Understanding The Challenges And Satisfaction Among The Medical Professional Preceptors, Cornelia Ko

This study evaluates the Penn Medicine Family Medicine Clerkship program through a mixed-methods approach, exploring the challenges and factors influencing the satisfaction of medical professional preceptors when precepting students. A quantitative survey with 54 preceptor participants reveals the top challenges preceptors face: workload, conflicts with patient care, and limited clinical space. Despite this, there is strong support for the program, with 89% of preceptors enjoying the role and 85% expressing willingness to continue to precept for the next three years. Finally, data analysis shows no statistical correlation between preceptor motivation with gender, ethnicity, age group, years of serving, or total …

As time passes and risk increases, the need for effective hazard mitigation is becoming more critical for communities to build resilience against future disasters. This study utilized a grounded theory approach to identify the actors involved in a network for hazard mitigation project development and implementation at the local level, what challenges these networks face, and what factors help them succeed. Local hazard mitigation program managers across the United States were invited to participate in semi-structured interviews to share their experiences. The mental health needs of adolescents continue to rise, and there is consensus within the literature that universal promotion of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in schools is one way to improve student well-being (Vetter et al., 2024). Teachers play an important role in the success of new Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initiatives, yet their voices appear to be missing from the literature. Flags have been around for centuries; however, vexillology, the study of flags, was not officially coined until the 1960s. Despite this, there is still a need for more scientific and empirical research. Using qualitative arts-based research (ABR) methodology, this study investigates the creative journey of students in an undergraduate geography course as they design a flag for a place of their choosing. Students were asked to interpret the concept of ‘place’ through their flag designs while also incorporating flag design principles. Dallas, Texas, has attempted to implement bicycle infrastructure for 50 years. Unfortunately, the measures have been rejected by the populace. This resulted in Dallas being ranked the worst city to bike in the United States three times in the last 17 years. This dissertation aims to understand why. Specifically, reviewing the factors that prevent residents from biking and what infrastructural changes would entice them to bike more. To achieve this, a 27-question online survey was created. An eviction threat phenomenon is currently unfolding in East New York, located in Brooklyn, NY, and is drawing attention to specific individuals who have been marginalized and overlooked within society: Black single men aged between 24 and 55. The relative education model holds that educational attainment reflects existing socioeconomic advantages that are associated with participation rather than spurring political participation on its own. Yet, emerging research on compensation effects suggests that greater educational attainment leads to increased political engagement among more marginal populations in which political socialization is less likely to occur outside of schools. We argue that the relative education model will better describe the relationship between education and voting patterns among more advantaged groups. Recent literature on the behavior of rising powers in digital trade and data governance highlights their discourses of data sovereignty and desire to preserve domestic policy autonomy. Introduction. The PROTECCT-GLAM project aims to assess and address climate risks for U.S. galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs). The project team began with creating a national dataset of GLAMs. Method. The project team used existing datasets that required different auditing and manipulation techniques to align its data. Following the data normalization, the master file included 77,960 entries. Analysis and Results. The project team used ArcGIS Pro to analyze a dataset of galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (GLAMs) for risk from sea level rise, finding 16,877 GLAMs within 30 kilometres of the U.S. coast, with California, New York, Maryland, Florida, …

Understanding tropical climatology is essential to comprehending the atmospheric connections between the tropics and extratropical latitudes weather and climate events. In this review paper, we emphasize the advances in key areas of tropical climatology knowledge since the end of the 20th century and offer a summary, assessment, and discussion of previously published literature. Among the key areas analyzed here, we explore the advances in tropical oceanic and atmospheric variability, such as El Niño–Southern Oscillation and the Madden-Julian Oscillation, and how those teleconnection events have helped us to better understand variabilities in tropical monsoons, tropical cyclones, and drought events. This study explores how faculty across disciplines access and share scholarly serial content and what expectations they have for immediacy. The authors conducted twenty-five in-depth, semi-structured interviews with faculty of various ranks representing all Illinois State University (ISU) colleges. The findings, presented in the words of participants and triangulated with data from local sources, suggest that faculty use a variety of context-specific mechanisms to access and share serial literature. The Fiske Center for Archaeological Research at UMass Boston engaged in a multi-season examination of the formal landscape north of the mansion house at Gore Place in Waltham and Watertown, Massachusetts. The archeological work consisted of a geophysical survey of the whole area in the fall of 2019 and excavation in the summer of 2021 and 2022 focusing on the southeast corner of the formal garden and the eastern wing of the fruit wall. Academic programs in colleges and universities in the United States have increasingly embraced principles of equity and inclusion to support student success and diversity within professions. Innovations in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in university programs require baseline data on students, faculty and administrators, curricula, and programmatic support. A review of data shows that underrepresented groups in the US workforce have limited visibility in operations research and analytics. Thylakoid-based photosynthetic biofuel cells (TBFCs) harness the inherent light-driven electron transfer pathways of photosynthesis to enable sustainable solar-to-electrical energy conversion. While TBFCs offer a unique route toward biohybrid energy systems, their practical deployment is hindered by sluggish electron transfer kinetics, unstable redox mediators, and inefficient interfacing between biological and electrode components. This review critically examines recent advances in TBFCs, with a focus on three key surface engineering strategies: (i) incorporation of nanostructured materials to enhance electrode conductivity and surface area; (ii) application of redox mediators to facilitate charge transfer between photosynthetic proteins and electrodes; and (iii) functional exploitation of individual …

บทความฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาสภาวะของบริการด้านสุขภาพ และการเข้าถึงของระบบราชทัณฑ์ไทยในการดูแลแบบประคับประคองและการดูแลในวาระท้าย โดยอาศัยแนวคิดสิทธิมนุษยชน สิทธิผู้ต้องขัง แนวคิดการดูแลแบบประคับประคอง และกรอบข้อบังคับระดับสากลและข้อกฎหมายระดับประเทศ ทั้งนี้ ยังมุ่งศึกษาแนวทางการให้บริการด้านสุขภาพในมิติของการดูแลในระยะท้าย ความต้องการของผู้ต้องขังสูงวัยในเรือนจำ และรูปแบบการจัดการกับการตายในเรือนจำ ผ่านกลไกของราชทัณฑ์ไทยที่มีทีมสหวิชาชีพต่าง ๆ เข้ามาให้บริการผู้ต้องขังในระยะท้าย การศึกษาครั้งนี้อาศัยการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ และมีข้อค้นพบประการสำคัญว่า สภาพความเป็นอยู่ของผู้ต้องขังป่วยต้องเผชิญความยากลำบากในเรือนจำ ซึ่งส่งผลให้เกิดความเสี่ยงต่อความเจ็บป่วยได้ง่าย สภาพแวดล้อมของเรือนจำไม่สอดรับกับวัยสูงอายุ อย่างไรก็ตาม ผู้ต้องขังสูงวัยในวาระท้ายของชีวิตได้รับบริการทางการแพทย์ที่มีมาตรฐานสากลเทียบเท่าการรักษาในโรงพยาบาลภายนอก ด้วยทีมสหวิชาชีพที่มีความเชี่ยวชาญ ทั้งยังมีบริการระบบการให้เยี่ยมออนไลน์สำหรับผู้ต้องขังในวาระท้ายในเรือนจำ และความต้องการในวาระสุดท้ายของชีวิตผู้ต้องขังในเรือนจำ คือ การได้ “กลับบ้าน” ที่นับเป็นข้อค้นพบสำคัญ และเป็นความหวังสุดท้ายก่อนสิ้นลมหายใจ

งานศึกษานี้ประเมินค่าตัวคูณทางการคลังโดยอาศัยกระบวนการทางเศรษฐมิติที่เป็นที่ยอมรับวงกว้างในปัจจุบัน โดยทดลองใช้ข้อมูลสะท้อนการใช้จ่ายของรัฐบาลที่แตกต่างกัน 5 ลักษณะ งานศึกษาพบว่าค่าตัวคูณการใช้จ่ายของรัฐบาลอยู่ที่ 0.25-0.49 ซึ่งมีค่าต่ำกว่า 1 อย่างชัดเจน ค่าตัวคูณดังกล่าวสะท้อนความไม่มีประสิทธิภาพของมาตรการกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจของประเทศไทย ซึ่งเป็นประเทศเศรษฐกิจเปิดขนาดเล็กและมีสัดส่วนของภาคเศรษฐกิจนอกระบบในระดับสูง ทั้งนี้ ค่าตัวคูณการใช้จ่ายของรัฐบาลดังกล่าวประเมินขึ้นจากข้อมูลการเบิกจ่ายงบประมาณประจำปีของรัฐบาลที่มิได้คำนวณรวมการเบิกจ่ายงบประมาณในส่วนของการชำระคืนต้นเงินกู้และรายจ่ายเพื่อชดใช้เงินคงคลัง/ชดใช้ทุนสำรองจ่าย ซึ่งมีความสอดคล้องการดำเนินมาตรการรักษาเสถียรภาพทางเศรษฐกิจของรัฐบาลในทางปฏิบัติมากกว่าข้อมูลที่ถูกนำมาใช้ประเมินค่าตัวคูณทางการคลังในงานศึกษาในอดีต

การสังเคราะห์ภาวะความเป็นเจ้าบ้านบนพื้นฐานของการวิจัยสังคมเชิงประจักษ์ : กรณีศึกษามุมมองเกี่ยวกับผู้อพยพเข้ามาในพื้นที่ปลายทางยอดนิยมของทวีปยุโรป, ศิริพงศ์ ปาลกะวงศ์ ณ อยุธยา

จุดมุ่งหมายหลักของงานวิจัยนี้คือการสังเคราะห์นิยามและองค์ประกอบของแนวคิด “ภาวะความเป็นเจ้าบ้าน” ซึ่งมีรากฐานจากผลการวิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์เชิงพหุระหว่างทัศนคติต่อผู้อพยพเข้ามาในประเทศของตนกับภูมิหลังทางประชากร การเมือง และสังคม ของเจ้าบ้านในพื้นที่ปลายทางยอดนิยมของทวีปยุโรป โดยใช้ข้อมูลจากฐานข้อมูลการสำรวจทางสังคมชาวยุโรป ผลการสังเคราะห์แสดงให้เห็นว่าภาวะความเป็นเจ้าบ้านคือภาวะทางจิตสังคมอย่างหนึ่ง ซึ่งมีลักษณะเป็นทั้งสำนึกร่วมทางสังคมและความพึงพอใจส่วนบุคคลในฐานะเจ้าบ้าน เกี่ยวกับการยึดถือและปฏิบัติตามเป้าหมายและแนวปฏิบัติว่าด้วยการอาศัยอยู่ร่วมกับผู้อื่นในสังคมอย่างสันติ เพื่อนำไปสู่การเปิดใจยอมรับและให้การต้อนรับผู้อพยพอย่างมีไมตรีจิต นอกจากนี้ บุคคลที่มีทัศนคติเชิงบวกต่อผู้อพยพหรือมีภาวะความเป็นเจ้าบ้านอย่างเด่นชัด ประกอบด้วยคุณสมบัติสำคัญ 6 ประการ ได้แก่ 1) การมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมือง 2) การได้รับการตอบสนองความต้องการพื้นฐานอย่างเพียงพอ 3) การมีทักษะการคิดเชิงวิพากษ์อย่างรอบด้าน ตลอดจนรู้เท่าทันอารมณ์และความรู้สึก 4) การคำนึงถึงผลประโยชน์สาธารณะและผลประโยชน์ส่วนตัวอย่างสมดุล 5) การไม่ยึดติดกับอัตลักษณ์ของตน/พวกพ้องมากเกินไป และ 6) การมีความเห็นอกเห็นใจ/เข้าใจความรู้สึกของผู้อื่น รวมถึงมีมนุษยธรรมและให้ความสนใจแก่สิ่งรอบตัว

บทความวิชาการนี้เป็นการศึกษาอิสระ ที่มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์ชาวสิงคโปร์เชื้อสายอินเดียในฐานะชุมชนลำดับที่ 3 ภายใต้บริบทนโยบายพหุวัฒนธรรม โดยศึกษาบูรณาการด้านประวัติศาสตร์ สังคมวัฒนธรรม และรัฐศาสตร์ มุ่งพิจารณาถึงการเลือกตั้งทั่วไปกับการเลือกตั้งประธานาธิบดี ผลการศึกษาในครั้งนี้ได้แสดงให้เห็นว่า ก) สิงคโปร์เปิดพื้นที่เชิงอำนาจทางการเมืองการปกครอง เชื้อสายอินเดียได้เข้าถึงอำนาจฝ่ายนิติบัญญัติผ่านการเลือกตั้งทั่วไป ระบบกำหนดให้มีเขตเลือกตั้งแบบรายกลุ่มที่มีเชื้อสายอินเดียเป็นสมาชิก (ตั้งแต่ ค.ศ. 1988) ในปัจจุบันสังกัดอยู่ในทั้งฝ่ายรัฐบาลและฝ่ายค้าน แต่การสร้างกลุ่มที่มีเชื้อสายตามอุดมการณ์และดำเนินตามนโยบายก็เป็นเรื่องยาก ข) ชุมชนเชื้อสายอินเดียมีประวัติศาสตร์ที่ได้เข้าถึงตำแหน่งระดับสูงในฝ่ายรัฐบาล และการได้เข้าถึงตำแหน่งที่มีอำนาจสูงสุดห้าในหกตำแหน่ง นั่นคือ ประธานาธิบดี รัฐมนตรีอาวุโส รองนายกรัฐมนตรี หัวหน้าผู้พิพากษาสูงสุด และประธานรัฐสภา อย่างไรก็ดี ชาวสิงคโปร์เชื้อสายอินเดียยังไม่ได้เข้าถึงตำแหน่งนายกรัฐมนตรี ซึ่งเชื้อสายจีนมีจารีตสืบทอดในตำแหน่งนี้มาโดยตลอด

ความเป็นธรรมทางดิจิทัล เป็นประเด็นที่ไม่ได้ถูกกล่าวถึงมากนักในประเทศไทย ถึงแม้ว่าเป็นปัจจัยหนึ่งในการเกิดความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคม โดยเฉพาะเรื่องการเข้าถึงข้อมูลข่าวสาร บริการ และสวัสดิการสังคมขั้นพื้นฐานของรัฐที่ประชาชนควรได้รับ ส่วนใหญ่เมื่อนึกถึงเรื่องความเหลื่อมล้ำในสังคม ผู้คนมักกล่าวถึงความเหลื่อมล้ำทางเศรษฐกิจและความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคมในภาพกว้าง ในขณะที่ความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคมถูกซ่อนไว้ในทุกมิติของชีวิต ดังนั้น การกล่าวถึงประเด็นชี้เฉพาะเรื่อง “ความเป็นธรรมทางดิจิทัลด้านสื่อและเทคโนโลยี” จึงมีไม่มากนัก นับว่าเป็นช่องว่างขององค์ความรู้ทางวิชาการที่ควรศึกษาทำความเข้าใจเพิ่มเติม พร้อมทั้งหาแนวทางแก้ไขอย่างเร่งด่วนเพื่อจัดสวัสดิการที่เป็นธรรมให้แก่สมาชิกในสังคมอย่างทั่วถึง โดยเฉพาะประชากรกลุ่มหลักที่จะกล่าวถึงในบทความนี้ นั่นคือ กลุ่มผู้สูงอายุ เพื่อเป็นการเปิดมุมมองทัศนคติที่หลากหลายและกว้างขวางขึ้น อีกทั้งยังช่วยลดวยาคติ (ageism) ของผู้คนในสังคมที่มีความเชื่อว่า ผู้สูงอายุเป็นกลุ่มวัยที่ล้าหลัง และตีตรา (stigma) ว่าเป็นกลุ่มประชากรที่ใช้งานสื่อเทคโนโลยีไม่เป็น ในขณะที่สถานการณ์สังคมปัจจุบันมิได้เป็นเช่นนั้นอีกต่อไป ซึ่งจากข้อมูลที่ผู้เขียนได้ร่วมกันศึกษาวิจัยในประเด็นนี้ ทำให้ค้นพบองค์ความรู้ชุดใหม่ที่แสดงให้เห็นว่ามีผู้สูงอายุเป็นจำนวนมากที่สามารถใช้สื่อเทคโนโลยีได้อย่างคล่องแคล่ว ชำนาญ และหมั่นพัฒนาทักษะตนเอง ศึกษาหาความรู้อยู่เสมอ เพื่อให้รู้เท่าทันสถานการณ์โลกที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป ในทางตรงข้าม มีผู้สูงอายุจำนวนไม่น้อยเช่นกันที่ยังขาดความรู้และทักษะใช้งานสื่อเทคโนโลยีในชีวิตประจำวัน ทำให้พวกเขาถูกตัดขาดจากสังคมบางกลุ่มไปโดยปริยาย รวมทั้งไม่สามารถเข้าถึงข้อมูลข่าวสารและสวัสดิการของภาครัฐได้

เกษตรกรถูกระบุว่าเป็นกลุ่มอาชีพที่ประสบปัญหาความยากจนมากที่สุดในประเทศไทย โดยเฉพาะครัวเรือนในชนบทซึ่งมีรายได้น้อย บทความนี้วิเคราะห์การเลื่อนชั้นของเกษตรกรในสังคมชนบทผ่านกรณีศึกษาครัวเรือนเกษตรกร โดยการถกเถียงกับแนวคิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมภาคเกษตรที่ส่งผลต่อการเลื่อนชั้นทางสังคมและความยากจนข้ามรุ่น พบว่าครัวเรือนยากจนมีความพยายามในการยกระดับฐานะทางสังคมให้มีความเป็นอยู่ที่ดีขึ้น ทว่าแต่ละครัวเรือนก็มีข้อจำกัดและเงื่อนไขในการเลื่อนชั้นทางสังคมที่แตกต่างกันท่ามกลางการเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมภาคเกษตรที่โอกาส ทรัพยากร และเงินทุน รวมถึงช่องทางการศึกษาของบุตรหลานเป็นเงื่อนไขในการตัดสินใจด้านการพัฒนาครัวเรือน นอกจากปัจจัยส่วนบุคคลแล้ว ปัจจัยเชิงโครงสร้างมีความสำคัญต่อการวิเคราะห์ผลกระทบต่อความยากจนของเกษตรกร และปัญหาด้านการผลิตซ้ำนโยบายที่ส่งผลให้เกิดความยากจนมักจะไม่ได้รับความสนใจในการเป็นข้อถกเถียงในเชิงนโยบาย
