An Evaluation Of The Reliability, Validity And Sensitivity Of Three Human Mental Workload Measures Under Different Instructional Conditions In Third-Level Education, Luca Longo, Giuliano Orru

Conference papers

Although Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) has been researched for many years, it has been criticised for its theoretical clarity and its methodological approach. A crucial issue is the measurement of three types of cognitive load conceived in the theory, and the assessment of overall human cognitive load during learning tasks. This research study is motivated by these issues and it aims to investigate the reliability, validity and sensitivity of three existing self-reporting mental workload instruments, mainly used in Ergonomics, when applied to Education and in particular to the field of Teaching and Learning. A primary research study has been designed …

Introduction To The Special Issue: The Challenges And Opportunities Of Including The Lgbtq Community In Catholic Education, Karen Huchting, Emily Fisher

Journal of Catholic Education

This special issue is dedicated to disseminating recent research about the opportunities and challenges of including the LGBTQ community in Catholic education. The relationship between Catholic educational institutions and people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) can be complicated. As Catholic organizations, Catholic schools are governed by the rules of the church, and as educational institutions, Catholic schools must be responsive to the needs of students, families, and communities, as well as to changes in the larger sociopolitical landscape. LGBTQ people, whether students, parents, teachers, or administrators, exist in Catholic educational institutions, yet there has been a …

Corruption Within The U.S. Justice System, Aleida Montanez

Nebraska College Preparatory Academy: Senior Capstone Projects

The U.S. criminal justice system has let down the American people when it comes to justice, and those failures not only impact the victims but the society as a whole. The judicial system was implemented around the 17th century, and corruption quickly followed it not long after. Although the justice system maintains some order in our society, it is not very effective when it comes to preventing any form of corruption within the justice system itself. The criminal justice system has empowered corporations and authoritative people to break the law and get away with it.

- Throughout this research, it …

Effects Of Racial Oppression, Joana Reyes

Nebraska College Preparatory Academy: Senior Capstone Projects

During influential African-American movements, such as the Harlem Renaissance and Civil Rights, texts were created to illustrate oppression and one’s search for identity within that oppression. This is most notably presented in works such as Invisible Man and A Raisin in the Sun; they accurately depict racial and social-economical differences and the struggle of the characters to find both their place and society as well as their confidence as defined by their race. Through both literary works, each was able to describe and show how these individuals faced oppression. Therefore these two individuals were able to break away from the …
