Introduction: A staggering majority of pediatric breast masses are benign (mostly fibroadenoma) and so a biopsy is not readily performed as it can potentially lead to a future breast disfigurement. However, this should not be standard practice as this can lead to a delayed diagnosis, and hence, the treatment of pediatric breast cancer (BC); this was also seen in our patient's scenario.

Background: This report describes the presentation and course of treatment for one of the youngest reported cases of empyema of the gallbladder. Given the rare occurrence of this disease process, we elected to proceed with a systematic review of the literature. This is only the 7th case series discussing pediatric empyema of the gallbladder due to Salmonella typhi in the literature, and the second case ever reported in the USA. Case presentation: We report a case of a previously healthy 13-month-old girl who presented with diffuse peritonitis and equivocal imaging studies. Background: Robotic-assisted mitral valve surgery (RMVS) is becoming an increasingly performed procedure in cardiac surgery, however, its true safety and efficacy compared to the gold standard conventional sternotomy approach [conventional sternotomy mitral valve surgery (CSMVS)] remains debated. The aim of this meta-analysis was to provide a comprehensive analysis of all available literature comparing RMVS to CSMVS.

Objective: The objective of this study was to report the early results of CyberKnife^® (CK^®) stereotactic radiosurgery in advanced stages of ciliochoroidal (CBCh) melanoma in Mexican patients.

Methods: A retrospective review of charts was performed to analyze the outcomes of patients who underwent CK^® (Accuray Inc, Sunnyvale, CA, United States).

Renal transplantation usually requires the administration of lifelong immunosuppressive therapy to minimize rejection.1 However, while these immunosuppressants are vital to graft protection, they increase the risk of infection and malignancy. Posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD), a troublesome combination of both, covers a wide range of lymphomas, most commonly B-cell type and has been described in pediatric and adult patients.2 Risk factors for PTLD include Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and immunosuppression and the prevalence of adult kidney transplant PTLD is estimated to be 0.5% to 4%, with the highest incidences occurring within the first year of transplant.2-5 …

OBJECTIVE: To compare 4-year outcomes associated with vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) vs Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) for remission and relapse of dyslipidemia.

BACKGROUND: The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) has proposed practice guidelines for evaluating patients with suspected choledocholithiasis. This study aims to assess and compare practice patterns for following ASGE guidelines for choledocholithiasis in a large academic vs. community hospital setting.

METHODS: A total of one thousand ER indicated for choledocholithiasis were randomly selected. Patients' demographics, total bilirubin, imaging studies including magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP), intraoperative cholangiogram (IOC), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and ERCP results were retrospectively collected. PURPOSE: To compare rates of complications and opioid claims after elective THA among patients with prior HA versus controls.

A 63-year-old man with multiple previous orthopedic procedures in both lower extremities had presented to us for a third opinion regarding the point-specific pain in his right lateral calf. The initial diagnosis had been venous reflux at two other institutions. However, repeat imaging studies demonstrated an aneurysmal gastrocnemius vein without any other abnormalities, such as venous reflux or thrombosis. The patient had received compression stocking therapy for 6 months but had continued to experience increasing pain at night, especially when lying in bed. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present study was to report a large, single-center experience using the ClotTriever thrombectomy system (Inari Medical, Irvine, CA) for the management of acute iliofemoral (IF) deep vein thrombosis (DVT). One limitation of all endovascular devices for the treatment of acute IF-DVT has been the inability to completely remove all acute thrombus and the need for adjunctive thrombolysis with its attendant risk of bleeding complications.

Background: Bronchial artery revascularization (BAR) during lung transplantation has been hypothesized to improve early tracheal healing and delay the onset of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome (BOS). We aimed to assess the outcomes of BAR after lung transplantation.

OBJECTIVE: A review of efficiency and safety of fluoroscopy and stereotactic navigation system for minimally invasive (MIS) Sacroiliac (SI) fusion through a lateral technique.

METHODS: Retrospective analysis of an observational cohort of 96 patients greater than 18 years old, that underwent MIS SI fusion guided by fluoroscopy or navigation between January 2013 and April 2020 with a minimum of 3 months follow-up. Intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) with a variable combination of electromyography (EMG), somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) and motor evoked potentials (MEPs) was also utilized.

Introduction: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination generates protective immunity against SARS-CoV-2 infection. There is no clear evidence of COVID-19 vaccine-induced menstrual irregularities.
Objective: To identify potential menstrual irregularities following COVID-19 vaccine among females.
Methods: A worldwide cross-sectional survey study was conducted from June 10, 2021, to July 10, 2021 using online mediums. The survey consisted of 15 questions divided into baseline characteristics, vaccination status and dosage, menstruation and relate factors, and thoughts and knowledge about menstrual irregularities. To determine whether Medicaid expansion under the 2010 Affordable Care Act affected rates of breast cancer surgery.

Background: Data regarding the impact of Medicaid expansion on access to surgical treatment of breast cancer are limited.

Methods: Patients in the National Cancer Database diagnosed with non-metastatic breast cancer between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2017 and residing in a state that expanded Medicaid in January 2014 or in a state that opted out of expansion were included. A quasi-experimental, difference-in-differences (DID) approach was used to assess rate of omission of surgical treatment.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease has been associated with exposures in the workplace. We aimed to assess the association of respiratory symptoms and lung function with occupation in the Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease study. We analysed cross-sectional data from 28,823 adults (≥40 years) in 34 countries. Eleven occupations were considered and grouped by likelihood of exposure to organic dusts, inorganic dusts and fumes. The association of chronic cough, chronic phlegm, wheeze, dyspnoea, FEV1/FVC and FVC with occupation was assessed, per study site, using multivariable regression.
