Introduction: Pectus Excavatum (PEX) is the most common anterior chest wall deformity. While minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum (MIRPE) has improved perioperative outcomes, there continue to be opportunities to optimize postoperative pain management and reduce length of stay (LOS). We compared the impact of a multimodal expedited protocol utilizing a combination of systemic and regional analgesia (with single shot paravertebral truncal blocks), along with coping techniques (such as meditation), and physical therapy, with systemic analgesia on LOS and opioid requirements.

Objective
To compare the early radiographic and clinical outcomes of expandable uniplanar versus biplanar interbody cages used for single-level minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MIS-TLIF).

Method
A retrospective review of 1-level MIS-TLIFs performed with uniplanar and biplanar polyetheretherketone cages was performed. Radiographic measurements were performed on radiographs taken preoperatively, at 6-week follow-up, and 1-year follow-up. Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual analogue scale (VAS) for back and leg at 3-month and 1-year follow-up.

Results

Dipyridamole nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging is a safe and useful modality to assess for myocardial ischemia. It is the modality of choice for cardiac risk stratification in patients unable to exercise. Intravenous dipyridamole causes coronary vasodilation and may yield heterogeneity of coronary blood flow in significant coronary artery disease. Ischemic electrocardiographic changes following pharmacologic stress testing are less likely compared to exercise stress tests. Ischemia more likely presents in the form of ST depression, with ST-elevation being exceedingly rare. We present a case of a 73-year-old patient who developed ST-elevation myocardial infarction following pharmacologic stress testing.

Background and Objective: Graft selection for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) affects rehabilitation throughout the course of postoperative care. Methods: A search of PubMed and EBSCO was performed and abstracts independently reviewed by two authors. This search was also supplemented with additional evidence relevant to each phase of ACLR rehabilitation.

Partial left ventricular assist device (LVAD) support offers several advantages in treating chronic heart failure. It also raises concerns about insufficient support, worsening symptoms, and impediment of myocardial recovery. The clinical trial results for the CircuLite device (Medtronic) have shown that close monitoring can ensure improved outcomes for partial support. Another study on the ovine model demonstrated that partial and full support have similar effects regarding reverse remodeling. Proper wound closure requires the functional coordination of endothelial cells (ECs) and keratinocytes. In the late stages of wound healing, keratinocytes become activated and ECs promote the maturation of nascent blood vessels. In diabetes mellitus, decreased keratinocyte activation and impaired angiogenic action of ECs delay wound healing. Porcine urinary bladder matrix (UBM) improves the rate of wound healing, but the effect of exposure to UBM under diabetic conditions remains unclear.
