Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with Mitomycin C (MMC) has more than doubled the overall and disease-free survival in patients with peritoneal metastases (PM) due to colorectal cancer (CRC) over the past two decades. Although MMC is the most used HIPEC drug for PM due to CRC, dosing protocols vary dramatically between and within institutions across the world. BACKGROUND: The present video article describes the far posterior or paraspinal approach to posterior rib fractures. This approach is utilized to optimize visualization intraoperatively in cases of far-posterior rib fractures. Background. Glioblastoma exhibits aggressive growth and poor outcomes despite treatment, and its marked var- iability renders therapeutic design and prognostication challenging. The Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN) database contains complementary clinical, genomic, and transcriptomic profiling of 206 glio- blastoma patients, providing opportunities to identify novel associations between molecular features and clinical outcomes.

Methods. Survival analyses were performed using the Logrank test, and clinical features were evaluated using Wilcoxon and chi-squared tests with q-values derived via Benjamini-Hochberg correction. Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of mortality in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). This systematic review aimed to appraise all population-based studies describing the management and outcomes of HCC in SSA.

Methods: A systematic review based on a search in PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), AfricaWide and Cochrane up to June 2023 was performed. PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews were followed. The study protocol was registered with the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) (registration no: CRD42022363955).

This retrospective study, conducted at Valley Baptist Medical Center from March 14, 2020, to December 3, 2023, explores the impact of postoperative antibiotics on diabetic patients with complicated appendicitis. Out of 494 appendectomy patients, 17 diabetic patients with complicated appendicitis were analyzed. Of these, 15 received postoperative antibiotics, with 2 developing infections (13%), while the 2 did not receive postoperative antibiotics and remained infection-free. The study acknowledges limitations in sample size and the subjective nature of defining complicated appendicitis. These findings contribute to ongoing discussions on postoperative antibiotic practices, particularly in diabetic patients with complicated appendicitis.

This report discusses the occurrence of tumor-to-tumor metastasis—an atypical phenomenon in oncology where a secondary malignancy develops within an existing primary tumor. The case of a 64-year-old woman is presented, who, with a history of stage II invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast treated with mastectomy and chemoradiotherapy, developed neurological symptoms indicative of a secondary brain tumor. MRI and subsequent histopathological analysis post-craniotomy confirmed a meningioma with a metastatic breast carcinoma, demonstrating the clinical importance of considering tumor-to-tumor metastasis in similar patient histories.

Background The Neuroform Atlas Stent System is an established treatment modality for unruptured anterior and posterior circulation intracranial aneurysms. Location-specific results are needed to guide treatment decision- making. However, it is unclear whether there are differences in safety and efficacy outcomes between carotid and more distal anterior circulation aneurysms. Methods The ATLAS IDE trial was a prospective, multicenter, single- arm, open-label interventional study that evaluated the safety and efficacy of the Neuroform Atlas Stent System. This conceptual overview offers a comprehensive overview of systemic pathways that negatively impact the mental health of Black Men throughout their lives. Our argument highlights the importance for counselors and mental health professionals to utilize a thorough social risk assessment that considers these pathways in order to effectively address the mental health needs of Black Men while fostering positive working relationships. This overview strongly advocates for the use of context and structural determinants when evaluating mental health symptoms. Without an appropriate understanding of social risk and determinants, counselors may inadvertently perpetuate disparities by decontextualizing symptomology, and reproducing racist discourse.

To develop professional guidelines for best practices for suprachoroidal space (SCS) injection, an innovative technique for retinal therapeutic delivery, based on current published evidence and clinical experience.

Methods:

A panel of expert ophthalmologists reviewed current published evidence and clinical experience during a live working group meeting to define points of consensus and key clinical considerations to inform the development of guidelines for in-office SCS injection.
