The deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap has remained the gold standard for perforator flap reconstruction due to its consistent anatomy and low morbidity. Despite higher longterm patient satisfaction in autologous breast reconstruction compared to breast implants,1–3 implant-based reconstruction remains more common due to shorter operative time.

The majority of patients with colorectal cancer do not respond to treatment with immunotherapy. Immunotherapy requires the expression of cell surface immune checkpoint proteins (e.g. PDL1) to exert its effect. Most (>85%) of colorectal cancers do not express these proteins and this contributes in part to the poor prognosis and survival in patients with advanced disease. Simultaneously diagnosing cervical sympathetic chain schwannoma, nodular goiter and parathyroid adenoma is a very rare event during clinical practice. We had the opportunity to find this unusual association on a female patient. While nodular goiter and parathyroid adenoma are more common diseases and easier to diagnose, identifying the etiology of a parapharyngeal space tumor remains a challenge and requires multiple imaging studies such as computed tomography scan, magnetic resonance imaging or angiography. Despite early diagnosis through screening programs and adequate treatment, 25% of cases are diagnosed with metastatic disease while up to 50% of patients diagnosed early progress to metastatic disease.
