BACKGROUND: Smartphone-based cognitive assessments have emerged as promising tools, bridging gaps in accessibility and reducing bias in Alzheimer disease and related dementia research. However, their congruence with traditional neuropsychological tests and usefulness in diverse cohorts remain underexplored.

METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 406 FHS (Framingham Heart Study) and 59 BHS (Bogalusa Heart Study) participants with traditional neuropsychological tests and digital assessments using the Defense Automated Neurocognitive Assessment (DANA) smartphone protocol were included. Objective: Anxiety and stress are debilitating disorders that have been on the rise in recent years following the COVID-19 pandemic. Medication alone has not been shown to be successful in mitigating the disorders, necessitating research into other alternatives for anxiety and stress management. The purpose of this project was to assess if a single complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) relaxation session had an impact on stress and anxiety levels. Method: A comprehensive literature review was conducted to identify strategies for reducing stress and anxiety. Doxazosin Immediate Release As A Novel Treatment For Nightmares In Posttraumatic Stress Disorder., Danyaal Khan, Christie Richardson, Martin Forsberg

Nightmares and flashbacks are common debilitating symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) that can disrupt daily functioning. Prazosin, an alpha-1 adrenergic antagonist, has been commonly used off-label for the treatment of these intrusion symptoms, although its short half-life makes it so that often multiple doses are needed. Doxazosin, another alpha-1 antagonist, is starting to be investigated in the treatment of PTSD-related nightmares due to its lesser side effect profile and longer half-life. Background: In the United States, 52.8% of Americans aged 18 and older consume alcohol, with 29.5 million suffering from alcohol use disorder (AUD). In Los Angeles, 69.8% of Angelinos aged 12 and older suffer from AUD, and 33% of annual arrests are due to alcohol and other drugs. Alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) develops after abrupt cessation of heavy drinking and is a common occurrence among incarcerated people when newly arrested, resulting in $1.3 billion in healthcare costs. Management of AWS using a fixed-dose therapy of benzodiazepines will improve the utilization of healthcare services in the correctional setting.
