The opioid epidemic is at a critical point in the United States. This quality improvement project aims to determine which anesthesia strategies lessen the use of opioids in the surgical setting to reduce this raging epidemic. The process included total knee replacement record reviews. Reviews used general linear models to compare two multimodal anesthetic plans, including pre-medications in addition to an adductor canal and subarachnoid nerve block. The researcher reviewed the records for these patients comparing those receiving only an adductor canal and those receiving a subarachnoid nerve block. Colorectal cancer is the 2^nd leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States (USPSTF, 2016). In 2017 there were over 141, 000 cases diagnosed with over 51,000 deaths reported (Center for Disease Control, 2020). This raises great concern for primary care clinicians. One guideline recommended by USPSTF, is that patients undergo screening who are at low to moderate risk for colorectal cancer. This can be done by various studies. Osteoporosis affects over 12 million Americans, leading to fractures, chronic pain, reduced independence, and decreased quality of life (United States Preventative Services Task Force [USPSTF], 2018). Up to 30% of individuals who suffer an osteoporotic hip fracture will not survive 12 months post-fracture, and 71% of all osteoporotic fractures occur in women (USPSTF, 2018). Due to increased risk with age, the USPSFT recommends all women have initial bone densitometry at age 65 or greater (2018). Background

Older adults with obesity residing in rural areas have reduced access to weight management programs. We determined the feasibility, acceptability and preliminary outcomes of an integrated technology-based health promotion intervention in rural-living, older adults using remote monitoring and synchronous video-based technology.

Methods

A 6-month, non-randomized, non-blinded, single-arm study was conducted from October 2018 to May 2020 at a community-based aging center of adults aged ≥65 years with a body mass index (BMI) ≥30 kg/m2. Introduction

Perinatal substance use continues to be a major public health issue in women’s health. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of substance use screenings in care and assess how well the existing services in Marin County are serving the needs of pregnant and parenting women and identifying the gaps and/or weaknesses in current practice.

Data for this study was collected via semi-structured interviews with five professionals that worked at the local community clinic, hospital and a non-profit agency. Some questions were slightly modified to be configured toward the participant’s specific profession.

A comprehensive understanding of spaceflight factors involved in immune dysfunction and the evaluation of biomarkers to assess in-flight astronaut health are essential goals for NASA. An elevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a potential biomarker candidate, as leukocyte differentials are altered during spaceflight. In the reduced gravity environment of space, rodents and astronauts displayed elevated NLR and granulocyte-to-lymphocyte ratios (GLR), respectively. To simulate microgravity using two well-established ground-based models, we cultured human whole blood-leukocytes in high-aspect rotating wall vessels (HARV-RWV) and used hindlimb unloaded (HU) mice. Introduction: Few lung cancer screening decision aids have been tested in diverse populations. The study objective was to determine whether the online decision aid www.shouldiscreen.com impacts knowledge of and decisional conflict around lung cancer screening in a diverse population.

Methods: Eligible patients had significant smoking histories, were at increased risk for lung cancer (ages 45-80, >20 pack-years, smoking within last 15 years) and had no history of prior lung cancer or screening. Data was collected and analyzed in 2017.

The objective of this study was to assess the awareness of rural women on breast cancer and its screening methods in Southwest Nigeria. Descriptive cross-sectional survey design with the aid of a semi-structured questionnaire was used to generate data among 422 rural women in selected communities in Egbeda local government area of Ibadan. The qualitative data was generated through in-depth interviews among rural women and key informant interviews among health workers in the communities. Nearly all individuals with Down Syndrome (DS) display pathology associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) beginning as early as age 30. Previous research in typically developed adults suggests that increased moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) may improve cognitive function and protect against age-related structural and functional changes in the brain; however, the potential impact of increased MVPA on the development of AD in adults with DS has not been evaluated.
