Introduction: In 2013, the first Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) clinical trial for the treatment of Symptomatic Cervical Disc Disease (SCDD) at two contiguous levels was approved for an unconstrained Total Disc Replacement (cTDR). A decade later, this same device was the control arm of a new IDE trial at 2 levels. Although different investigators, the objective of this analysis was to explore if a decade of knowledge demonstrated a significant improvement in patient outcomes compared to the original trial. With total knee arthroplasty (TKA), postoperative pain management is so important for optimal recovery and patient outcomes. This integrative review evaluates the effectiveness of multimodal analgesia (MMA) compared to traditional opioid-based analgesia in reducing pain and opioid consumption post-TKA. Research shows that MMA is very effective at providing adequate pain relief, reducing side effects, and also decreasing opioid use. MMA also addresses both the specific needs of individual patients and the broader public health issue of opioid dependence. BACKGROUND: Recent literature has identified that patient resilience may affect outcomes after meniscectomy. Research into psychological risk factors for poor surgical outcomes has been a focus in orthopaedic surgery.

PURPOSE/HYPOTHESIS: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between preoperative patient resilience and 2-year postoperative outcomes after arthroscopic meniscectomy. It was hypothesized that there would be no relationship between resilience and patient-reported outcomes after meniscectomy.

When magnetic resonance arthrogram (MRA) is equivocal for surgical decision making, an additional intra-articular diagnostic injection (IA) can further confirm the diagnosis. INTRODUCTION: Gas gangrene is a rare, often lethal infection of soft tissue that is commonly associated with the Clostridial species due to penetrating injuries. Case reports of spontaneous atraumatic gas gangrene due to the Clostridium septicum species are exceedingly rare. Atraumatic C. septicum is notably related to bowel pathologies, immunodeficiencies, and individuals with vascular insufficiency. The rapid progression of Clostridium myonecrosis contributes to its high mortality rates.

Exogenous steroids are a staple of modern medicine, with utility in a variety of direct and supplemental treatment modalities. However, all pharmaceuticals are undoubtedly coupled with unique side effect profiles, and steroids are no exception. In the case presented, the assessment and management of a 36-year-old male who inappropriately self-administered high-dose steroids for prolonged periods of time is reviewed. In doing so, attention is drawn to both the impact of glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis and the greater risk of online availability of these powerful medications.

Previous studies have shown that the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is associated with increased stress fracture risk. This phenomenon has been studied predominantly in high-activity individuals, so data regarding the general population are limited despite the substantial economic and resource burden of stress fracture injuries within the general US population. Furthermore, our preclinical studies demonstrate that regular use of NSAIDs also diminishes the intrinsic ability of bone to resist fracture.
