Introduction: This is the case of a patient presenting with phlegmasia cerulea dolens after recent travel with concurrent extensive pulmonary emboli. Patient’s symptoms progressed quickly, atypically, and he did not have known common risk factor for the extent of his disease.

Case Description: The patient is a 78-year-old Caucasian male who presented to the emergency department complaining of left leg swelling and mild pain that began 1 day prior. Patient flew in 3 weeks prior from Scotland. On exam, patient was found to have extensive erythema and ecchymosis of left leg. Background: Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), a novel infection caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus, was declared a global pandemic on March 11, 2020. Three years later, 350,000 Kenyans had gotten the infection, with approximately 5,700 reported related deaths. Despite emerging research on the new virus, studies from the African continent on the impact of COVID-19 on the kidneys have been few. Background: Breast health disparities and underutilization of screening methods are major concerns in the United States (US), particularly affecting Black women who experience lower survival rates and advanced diagnoses. Despite the rapid growth of the African-born immigrant population, breast health among this group in the US is notably under-examined. This study aims to investigate the breast health knowledge and practices of first-generation African-born immigrants and second-generation immigrant women of African descent, aiming to understand the distinctive attributes of this group and the impact of acculturation on this public health issue.

A large body of literature suggests that children living with two married, biological parents on average have fewer behavior problems than those who do not. What is less clear is why this occurs. Competing theories suggest that resource deficiencies and parental selectivity play a part. We suggest that examining different contexts can help adjudicate among different theoretical explanations as to how family structure relates to child behavior problems. The prevalence of opioid use disorder (OUD) in the United States, and worldwide, has drastically increased in the span of 2-3 years. OUD is considered chronic condition and as such requires routine care over a lifetime. This makes OUD patients excellent candidates to be managed by primary care providers (PCPs). This article discusses the various barriers to treatment of OUD in a primary care setting as well methods and models that aim to mitigate these barriers. Background: Hypertension (HTN) is a public health problem that, when well-controlled, can significantly reduce the risk of stroke, coronary heart disease, heart failure and death. Effective patient-provider communication strongly incentivizes an improvement in medical outcomes. Communication with patients can often be effectively delegated to other clinical staff, such as registered nurses (RNs) or clinical service technicians (CSTs) (Tavakoly Sany, Behzhad, Ferns & Peyman, 2020).
