Problem: In the United States, obesity is one of the leading causes of death among Americans and rates of obesity continue to rise. Geographic location significantly affects the number of obesity cases, with rural areas being affected more than other locations. Despite this, obesity continues to be undertreated by rural primary care providers.

Method: This quality improvement (QI) pilot project utilized a descriptive, observational design to evaluate the implementation of an evidence-based clinical practice guideline algorithm for obesity management in a rural primary care clinic. Professionalism cautions against profit while capitalism exists for profit. This case is a structural analysis of capitalism in a clinical setting that reveals physicians to be simultaneously wage laborers and professionals. Capitalism generates profit. Professionalism views profit as a conflict of interest that erodes trust in the doctor-patient relationship. Managing these conflicting values causes moral injury for physicians, which is a driver of physician burnout.

Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), previously known as Churg Strauss syndrome, is a rare small vessel vasculitis characterized by asthma, eosinophilia, and systemic involvement. This case report presents a 51-year-old man with a history of asthma, who presented with neurological symptoms including blurring of vision, bilateral ptosis, and altered sensorium. The patient had a previous history of cervical and lumbar spine surgeries for symptoms attributed to spondylosis. Further examination revealed hyperpigmented lesions on the limbs, wasting of small muscles, and foot drop.

Introduction: Pigeon Breeder’s Pneumonitis (PBP) results due to a complex pathophysiology that includes exposure to avian antigens. Susceptibility has been linked to human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class II, though consensus has not been reached. The goal of this systematic review is to further elucidate the association between PBP and HLA-DR subtypes.

Methods: Databases utilized included PubMed, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Library. Inclusion required a minimum of three studies in English presenting HLA-DR alleles of PBP and control subgroups. Exclusion was due to insufficient data or non-feasible control groups. BACKGROUND: Non-prescription antibiotic use includes taking an antibiotic without medical guidance (e.g., leftovers, from friends/relatives, or purchased without a prescription). Non-prescription use contributes to antimicrobial resistance, adverse drug reactions, interactions, superinfection, and microbiome imbalance. Qualitative studies exploring perspectives regarding non-prescription use among Hispanic patients are lacking. We used the Kilbourne Framework for Advancing Health Disparities Research to identify factors influencing patients' non-prescription use and organize our findings.

The findings of this study have shed light on the intricate relationship that exists between perceived weight status from a “non-obese/obese” perspective and attitudes towards food and the overconsumption of particular food items. Participants who perceived their weight status as “obese” despite having a calculated BMI below the CDC threshold and classification for “obesity” had poorer relationships with food, consumption behaviors, and on average consumed food items that were detrimental to overall health. In 2002 there were approximately 1.7 million healthcare associated infections, resulting in about 99,000 annual deaths. Appropriate disinfection of environmentally contaminated surfaces are required to reduce transmission of pathogens. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence is being used in hospital settings to audit the cleanliness in the hospital settings.
