A nonthrombotic iliac vein lesion is defined as the extrinsic compression of the iliac vein. Symptoms of lower extremity chronic venous insufficiency or pelvic venous disease can develop secondary to nonthrombotic iliac vein lesion. Anatomic compression has been observed in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. Causative factors that lead to symptomatic manifestations remain unclear. To provide guidance for providers treating patients with nonthrombotic iliac vein lesion, the VIVA Foundation convened a multidisciplinary group of leaders in venous disease management with representatives from the American Venous Forum and the American Vein and Lymphatic Society. The evolution of percutaneous procedures that use transseptal puncture to treat left-sided structural heart disease has led to the emergence of iatrogenic atrial septal defects as a potential complication. These defects can result in hemodynamic decompensation and worsening clinical outcomes. Some iatrogenic atrial septal defects require immediate closure, others do not. This case report presents 2 patients who underwent transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair with transseptal puncture and required iatrogenic atrial septal defect closure (1 immediate and 1 delayed). Purpose of Review: Hypertension (HTN) and obesity are increasing in prevalence and severity in adolescents and have significant implications for long term morbidity and mortality. This review focuses on the diagnosis and management of HTN in adolescents with obesity with an emphasis on co-management of the two conditions. Recent Findings: Recent studies affirm the increasing prevalence of abnormal blood pressures and diagnoses of HTN associated with increased adiposity. Current guidelines recommend routine screening with proper technique for HTN in patients with obesity. Introduction: Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a new disease entity occurring in the pediatric population two to six weeks after coronavirus exposure due to a systemic arteritis. We investigated post-hospital-discharge arterial function at short- and mid-term intervals using pulse wave velocity. We assessed associations between arterial function, left ventricular diastolic and systolic function and left ventricular mass. Materials and methods: Retrospective data collection was carried out on 28 patients with MIS-C with at least two outpatient pediatric cardiology clinic visits post hospital admission. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has become a well-established treatment option for patients with severe aortic stenosis. With advances in the field and positive outcomes in clinical trials, TAVR use has expanded from being limited to older patients with prohibitive surgical risk to younger patients with intermediate and low surgical risk. As operators’ experiences have grown and technology has evolved, there are fewer TAVR complications. Transcatheter technologies triggered the recent revision of the guidelines that progressively widened the indications for the treatment of aortic stenosis. On the surgical realm, a technology avoiding the need for sutures to anchor the prosthesis to the aortic annulus has been developed with the aim to reduce the duration of cardiopulmonary bypass and simplify the process of valve implantation. Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has become more common than surgical aortic valve replacement since 2016, with over 200,000 procedures globally each year. As patients increasingly outlive their TAVR devices, managing these cases is a growing concern. Treatment options include surgical removal of the old TAVR device (transcatheter aortic valve [TAV] explant) or implantation of a new transcatheter aortic valve (redo TAV). OBJECTIVE: Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery (mini-MVS) is typically reserved for patients who have not undergone open cardiac surgery. In the reoperative setting, using intrapericardial dissection for crossclamping the aorta through a minimally invasive approach can be difficult and, at times, risky. BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to determine national estimates for the percentage of all readmissions with demographic features, length of stay (LOS), cost analysis, comorbidities, complications, overall and gender-specific mortality and complications of transcutaneous tricuspid valve replacement/repair (TTVR) vs. open surgical tricuspid valve replacement/repair (open TVR).

METHODS: Data were extrapolated from the Nationwide Readmissions Database (NRD) 2015-19. Of the 75,266,750 (unweighted) cases recorded in the 2015 - 2019 dataset, 429 had one or more of the percutaneous approach codes as per the ICD-10 dataset, and 10,077 had one or more of the open approach codes.

Background: Dietary acculturation, or adoption of dominant culture diet by migrant groups, influences human health. We aimed to examine dietary acculturation and its relationships with cardiovascular disease (CVD), gut microbiota, and blood metabolites among US Hispanic and Latino adults.

To analyze and compare various cardiovascular disease risk scores in Western Indian patients undergoing Coronary angiogram (CAG).

Methods:

In this prospective cross-sectional study,1213 patients who underwent conventional coronary angiography; clinical risk profile and biochemical investigations were evaluated prior to undergoing CAG. Apart from the demographic information, 10-year absolute risk of having a major cardiovascular event (cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction or stroke) was calculated for each patient using various available Traditional Risk Scores (TRS). Approximately 48.1% of adults in the United States have high blood pressure. Providers may encourage patients to monitor and log their blood pressure at home. Still, patients often fail to bring this information to appointments, leading to reliance on less comprehensive in-office measurements. This quality improvement project aimed to increase adherence to home blood pressure logs using a Blood Pressure Toolkit. A descriptive, observational design was utilized to record patient adherence of taking home blood pressure measurements and increase the number of patients who brought their blood pressure logs to their healthcare provider visits over two months.
