BACKGROUND: Mitral valve dysplasia syndrome (MVDS) is a rare cardiac defect requiring accurate prenatal identification and appropriate counseling, delivery planning, and postnatal management.

CASE SUMMARY: A 39-year-old woman underwent fetal echocardiography at 34 weeks' gestation owing to cardiomegaly and hydrops. Biatrial enlargement, mild to moderate atrioventricular valve insufficiency, dysplastic mitral valve apparatus, biventricular dilation with systolic dysfunction, endocardial fibroelastosis, hypoplastic aortic outflow, and severely restrictive atrial septum were attributed to MVDS. E. coli is a rare cause of infective endocarditis. This report describes an 81-year-old-woman with a history of aortic stenosis and recurrent urinary tract infections who presented in sepsis secondary to E. coli urinary tract infection which was complicated by multivalvular infective endocarditis of the aortic and tricuspid native valves identified on transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE). The patient was managed medically with ceftriaxone, and resolution of both vegetations was seen on TEE without the need for cardiothoracic surgery. Literature review did not yield prior cases of multivalvular E. coli endocarditis.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent arrhythmia with significant morbidity. Numerous studies have shown that thrombus aspiration can prevent distal embolization and reducing the risk of microvascular obstruction (MVO). Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is considered the gold standard for the evaluation of MVO. Background and aims: Hypertension is the predominant modifiable cardiovascular risk factor. This cohort study assessed the association of risk with the percentage of time that the ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) is within the target range (PTTR) proposed by the 2024 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines for blood pressure (BP) management.

Methods: In a person-level meta-analysis of 14 230 individuals enrolled in 14 population cohorts, systolic and diastolic ABPs were combined to assess 24-h, daytime, and nighttime PTTR with thresholds for non-elevated ABP set at < 115/65, < 120/70, and < 110/60 mmHg, respectively.

BACKGROUND: Placement of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIED) with leads that traverse the tricuspid valve is thought to contribute to tricuspid regurgitation (TR). Doxorubicin is a chemotherapeutic agent used to treat many types of cancer. While effective, doxorubicin can cause cardiomyopathy, a disease affecting the heart muscle. Although the effects of doxorubicin on the heart are well studied, the mechanisms leading to cardiomyopathy are not well understood. Previous studies have used murine models to study the cardiotoxicity of doxorubicin. These reports showed that cardiac dysfunction is more pronounced in male compared to female mice. Introduction: Leadless intracardiac pacemakers (LICPs) reduce lead-related complications but may be malpositioned in patients with unrecognized structural defects. We report a 69-year-old man with high-grade AV block whose LICP, intended for right ventricular placement, was found in the left ventricle via an undiagnosed ostium secundum ASD after presenting with multifocal embolic strokes 16 months later. Case Presentation: Stroke workup for acute right-sided symptoms revealed the LICP in the LV and a large, previously undiagnosed ASD with bidirectional shunting and severe pulmonary hypertension. BACKGROUND: There is a global mismatch between the number of adults with congenital heart disease and adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) cardiologists, potentially impacting patient outcomes. This survey explores factors influencing trainees and cardiologists' career choices in ACHD.

METHODS: An online, anonymous global survey on demographics, ACHD as a career choice, encouraging and deterring factors assessed via a 5-point Likert scale and open-ended questions on recommending ACHD was distributed through targeted emails and social media. Responses meeting a 75% completion criterion were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis.

BACKGROUND: Direct oral anticoagulants and percutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) devices were approved for use in 2010 and 2015, respectively. It is unknown to what extent, if any, these new stroke preventive therapies have impacted hospitalizations for thromboembolic (TE) events.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate temporal trends in AF-related hospitalizations for acute ischemic stroke (AIS), transient ischemic attack (TIA), and systemic embolism (SEE) in the U.S. from 2010 to 2021.

This study examines the educational needs of this demographic group regarding obesity-related cancer risks and explores effective intervention strategies. Obesity-induced mechanisms – hormonal imbalances, chronic inflammation, and insulin resistance – drive cancer susceptibility, emphasizing the need for targeted health education. Non-invasive telemonitoring has emerged as a promising adjunct in HF management, yet its clinical effectiveness remains unclear. Materials and Methods: In this systematic review, we summarize randomized controlled trials (RCTs) between 2004 and 2024 examining the efficacy of non-invasive telemonitoring on mortality, readmission, and quality of life (QoL) in HF.
