Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease with a rapidly increasing prevalence, posing a significant public health challenge worldwide and in Saudi Arabia. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death among patients with T2DM, necessitating early detection and intervention to prevent disease progression. Elevated natriuretic peptide levels, particularly N-terminal pro–B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), are promising biomarkers for CVD risk stratification in individuals with T2DM. Objective Near Infra-Red Spectroscopy (NIRS), can be used to monitor renal tissue oxygenation (SrO2), as well as thenar muscle oxygenation (SmO2). In this study, we have examined the ability of SrO2 and SmO2 in predicting cardiac surgery related change in serum creatinine level (ΔsCr) and explored any correlation between these two parameters.

Design: Literature review. Methods: Searches were done in PubMed and Cochrane Library, utilizing the terms atrial fibrillation, cryoballoon ablation, and radiofrequency. The Fourth (4th) Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction (UDMI) provides a standardized framework to enhance diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making. launched within a private internal medicine practice in Essex County, New Jersey, to address this issue

BACKGROUND: Same-day discharge (SDD) after catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) may improve patient satisfaction and optimize healthcare resources. Pulsed field ablation (PFA) offers a favorable safety profile, potentially enabling broader adoption of SDD strategies.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate site-level practice patterns and participant- and procedure-related factors associated with SDD after de novo PFA for AF.

BACKGROUND: Right ventricular failure (RVF) is the primary determinant of outcomes in pulmonary hypertension (PH). Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD), defined by capillary rarefaction and endothelial dysfunction, may contribute to RVF but remains poorly characterized. Individuals with CVD are particularly vulnerable to severe complications from vaccine-preventable infections; however, adult vaccination continues to be underutilized. Methods: A multidisciplinary expert panel from the Saudi Heart Association (SHA) conducted a comprehensive literature review and a series of consensus meetings to develop evidence-based recommendations for adult immunization in patients with CVD. Results and conclusions: Evidence from randomized trials, observational studies, and real-world data supports the role of vaccines in reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in individuals with CVD. Background and significance of the problem: Pediatric congenital heart defect patients are amongst the sickest hospital population. These patients require planned palliation in the cardiac catheterization lab (cath lab), which has a limited number of providers and appointments available. In the cath lab, the percentage of avoidable same-day cancellations for interventional procedures was found to be greater than 30%, representing significant resource utilization opportunities.

Introduction: Assessment of myocardial function in fetuses with supraventricular tachyarrhythmia is challenging. Speckle-tracking echocardiography (STE) is a newer sensitive method to assess ventricular systolic function. We sought to assess left (LV) and right (RV) ventricular myocardial strain mechanics in fetuses with tachyarrhythmia and hypothesized that strain mechanics are impaired in this patient population even after conversion to sinus rhythm.

METHODS: This was a single-center retrospective review. LV and RV strain parameters were assessed using STE in tachyarrhythmia and after conversion to sinus rhythm and, compared to gestational age (GA), matched control fetuses in sinus rhythm.
