Communicating Innovation And Sustainability In Family Businesses Through Successions, Chanun Somboonvechakarn

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) contribute significantly to the economy, despite the fact that their survival rate is declining over generations. The purpose of this research is to create a communication model suitable for SMEs during succession for innovation and business sustainability. Fourteen innovative family SMEs in Thailand are selected using the assembled multiple-case study method, and in-depth individual interviews are conducted using the data triangulation method with the incumbents, successors, and long-serving non-family employees as participants from each business. There are two main findings. Issues regarding organizational innovation, social capital in the form of internal and external network relationships, …

Invited Perspective - Engaging Aspirations To Nurture Communities, Kentaro Toyama 2022 Loyola Marymount University and Loyola Law School

Invited Perspective - Engaging Aspirations To Nurture Communities, Kentaro Toyama

Subsistence Marketplaces

For subsistence communities, the question is whether aspirations can be applied to motivate behavior that is, on the one hand consistent with people’s aspirations, but which might otherwise be difficult to elicit. Could poorer households be encouraged to save, to spend more on their children’s education, or to act against unhealthy social norms? A couple of examples suggest this is not only possible, but highly successful in contexts where other appeals fail.

“You’Ll Never Really Be One Of Us”: Women’S Underrepresentation In The Aviation Workforce, Rebecca K. Lutte Ph.D., Shannon M. Morrison Ph.D.

Journal of Aviation/Aerospace Education & Research

Women are underrepresented in many aviation occupations despite outreach and recruitment efforts from multiple organizations. Attracting women into aviation is a necessity not only to address workforce demand but also to achieve the benefits of a more diverse workforce to include enhanced profitability, safety, and innovation. To address the gender gap, the research presented here attempts to inform recruitment/retention strategies by identifying both the positive and negative factors that influence a woman’s decision to pursue a career in aviation and the decision to persist. Additionally, factors such as participation in youth outreach programs, role of mentors, influencers who support or …

Innovation Process Of Amorphous Cellulose - Graphene Oxide Hybrid Structure For Water Treatment In A Shrimp Farm, Kongkiat Phuphantrakun

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Amorphous cellulose-graphene oxide bead composites are popularly employed in water purification. However, the existing fabrication methods of amorphous cellulose (AC) and amorphous cellulose-graphene oxide (ACGO) beads are complicated with many chemical use, multi-step, time and energy-consuming. In this research, we proposed an efficient method for fabricating amorphous cellulose-graphene oxide (ACGO) beads using less chemical under a simple 2-step approach. The production process of AC and ACGO beads was successfully fabricated via sulfuric acid (H2SO4) gelatinization and regeneration using eucalyptus paper as a raw material. The cellulose gel was droplet-extruded into deionized (DI) water and transformed into a solid bead via …

Factors Affecting Web-Based Social Service Referral Technology Adoption In The Nonprofit Sector, Elizabeth A. Hutton 2022 San Jose State University

Factors Affecting Web-Based Social Service Referral Technology Adoption In The Nonprofit Sector, Elizabeth A. Hutton

Master's Projects

Nonprofits play a significant role in providing social services that increase communities' overall well-being (Ressler et al., 2021; Reckhow et al., 2019; Smith & Phillips, 2016), and adopting new technologies helps promote these positive outcomes (Hackler & Saxton, 2007). However, with new technologies emerging at a pace few nonprofit organizations can keep up with, how do nonprofit leaders decide which technologies to adopt given their limited resources? This study seeks to understand what factors affect nonprofit leaders' technology adoption decision-making. Online referral platforms are not new in health or homeless organizations. Web-based coordinated social service referral tools are more recently …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

Scholars believe that the newly introduced Industry 5.0 has the potential to move beyond the profit-centered productivity of Industry 4.0 and to promote sustainable development goals such as human-centricity, socio-environmental sustainability, and resilience. However, little has been done to understand how this ill-defined phenomenon may deliver its indented sustainability values despite these speculative promises. To address this knowledge gap, the present study developed a strategy roadmap that explains the mechanism by which Industry 5.0 delivers its intended sustainable development functions. The study first developed and introduced the Industry 5.0 reference model that describes the technical and functional properties of this …

Change Management In The Irish Defence Forces During Technological Change, Paul Hegarty Lt Cdr

Irish Business Journal

Extant literature fails to address change management in the military during technological change. Few researchers have examined how military organisations, undergo change and what, if any, processes do they use to manage this change. As such, whether change management processes are found to have a positive impact on military organisations or not, the extant literature in the sociology and military domains are being added to by the findings of this research.

The aim of this paper is to determine if the Irish Defence Forces would benefit from the introduction of change management processes when implementing new technological systems. The extant …

Fast Fashion From A Buddhist Perspective, Elizabeth McLaughlin 2021 La Salle University

Fast Fashion From A Buddhist Perspective, Elizabeth Mclaughlin

HON499 projects

The connection between Buddhism and fast fashion is not immediately apparent, nor is it a particularly well-researched area. However, the topic of consumption underlies both topics, relating to each in markedly different ways. Buddhist precepts outline practices of mindful and sustainable consumption within limited means; fast fashion fosters consumption on a massive, global scale. The work of Ernst Friedrich Schumacher, a man with a career in economics that was aided by great concern for the survival and success of humankind, offers clarity to the conversation about Buddhism and fast fashion. He pioneered the field of Buddhist economics, which seeks to …
