One way to initiate a conversation for the purposes of mate attraction is to use a pickup line. While past research has addressed men’s use of pick-up lines, there has been far less research on those used by women. Here, we explored the perceived effectiveness of women’s pick-up lines, particularly with regard to one’s age but also as correlated with their Big Five personality factors. We hypothesized that both men and women would rate the same pick-up lines as effective and that older participants would rate pick-up lines as more effective than younger participants. We analyzed the responses of 448 participants who completed questions on attractiveness and other evolutionary fitness related traits, and long- and short-term mating potential, of a woman in either high heeled or flat shoes. We hypothesized that the woman in high heels would be rated as more attractive and evolutionarily fit by both men and women, and preferred for short-term mating by men. The hypothesis was partially supported. The woman in high heels was perceived as being more sexually attractive, physically attractive, feminine, and of a higher status. Introduction: Instructors assign grades to communicate to students how well they are learning the course content. However, students and instructors are often displeased with the process and outcome of grading. Statement of the Problem: We contend that conventional grading inadvertently detracts from student learning and simultaneously replicates systems of oppression in academia. We discuss Labor Based Grading Contracts (LBGC) as an alternative to conventional grading. Resistance to the idea that non-human animals are sentient resembles erstwhile resistance to the theory that the earth is not the centre of the universe, or that humans evolved from “apes”. All these notions are psychologically threatening. They can remind people of their own creatureliness and mortality and might make them feel guilty or uncertain about their way of life. An honest debate over animal sentience, welfare and rights should consider the human motivation to deprive animals of these things in the first place. I briefly review empirical evidence on the psychological function of denying animal minds.

การศึกษาในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาผลกระทบของการเปิดเผยข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และบรรษัทภิบาล ที่มีต่อมูลค่าบริษัท อัตราผลตอบแทนจากสินทรัพย์รวม อัตราผลตอบแทนต่อส่วนของผู้ถือหุ้น และต้นทุนเงินทุนถัวเฉลี่ยถ่วงน้ำหนักของบริษัทที่จดทะเบียนในตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย โดยเก็บข้อมูลจากงบการเงินของบริษัทในดัชนี SET 100 ระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2558 – 2562 รวมจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 240 กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ประกอบด้วยชุดข้อมูลของ 48 บริษัทจำนวน 5 ปี ใช้การวิเคราะห์สถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติเชิงอนุมานในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การเปิดเผยข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และบรรษัทภิบาลที่เพิ่มขึ้นส่งผลกระทบให้มูลค่าบริษัทและอัตราผลตอบแทนจากสินทรัพย์รวมมีค่าเพิ่มขึ้น นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าการเปิดเผยข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และบรรษัทภิบาลที่เพิ่มขึ้น ทั้งภาพรวมและแต่ละองค์ประกอบยังส่งผลกระทบให้ต้นทุนเงินทุนถัวเฉลี่ยถ่วงน้ำหนักของบริษัทลดลง ดังนั้นผลการศึกษาในครั้งนี้จึงเป็นการสนับสนุนให้บริษัทมีการเปิดเผยข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม และบรรษัทภิบาลมากขึ้น เนื่องจากบริษัทที่เปิดเผยข้อมูลมักถูกมองว่ามีความรับผิดชอบต่อสังคมและสิ่งแวดล้อม ช่วยเสริมภาพลักษณ์ให้แก่บริษัทและดึงดดูนักลงทุนได้ ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น การเปิดเผยข้อมูลยังส่งผลให้บริษัทมีความเสี่ยงที่ลดลง มีอันดับความน่าเชื่อถือที่ดีขึ้นส่งผลให้ต้นทุนทางการเงินลดลง อีกนัยหนึ่งคือมีมูลค่าบริษัทที่เพิ่มขึ้น

งานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาถึง กระบวนการสื่อสารเพื่อสร้างภาวะล้มแล้วลุกของพนักงานที่เป็นแม่ในองค์กรไทยเมื่อต้องเผชิญกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงแบบฉับพลัน โดยอาศัยมุมมองการสื่อสารเชิงระบบนิเวศในองค์กร ใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (in-depth interview) กับพนักงานหญิงในองค์กรไทยขนาดใหญ่ ประเภทแสวงผลกำไร ระดับปฏิบัติการและบริหาร ซึ่งสมัครใจให้ข้อมูลด้วยตนเอง (Self-report) ว่า ในช่วง 3 ปีที่ผ่านมา ตนได้เผชิญกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงแบบฉับพลันในขณะที่ต้องเลี้ยงดูลูกอายุไม่เกิน 13 ปีไปด้วยอย่างน้อย 1 เหตุการณ์ และในปัจจุบันสามารถก้าวข้ามอุปสรรคและอารมณ์เชิงลบที่เกิดขึ้นได้แล้ว โดยมีชีวิตส่วนตัวและการทำงานที่ดำเนินต่อไปได้ หรือเข้าสู่สภาวะปกติ) จำนวน 20 คน สุ่มตัวอย่างโดยสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง (Purposive Sampling) และสมัครใจ (Volunteer Sampling) ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การเปลี่ยนแปลงฉับพลันระดับมหภาค (Macrodisruptions) ที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อกลุ่มตัวอย่างพนักงานที่เป็นแม่ในภาพรวม ได้แก่ การแพร่ระบาดของเชื้อไวรัส COVID-19 นอกจากนี้ กลุ่มตัวอย่างบางส่วนยังได้รับผลกระทบจากการย้ายแผนกไปทำสายงานที่ไม่มีความรู้มาก่อน การเกิดวิกฤตแบบฉับพลันในองค์กรอื่นๆ ที่ไม่เกี่ยวข้องกับการแพร่ระบาดของโรค การย้ายที่อยู่อาศัย การตั้งครรภ์แบบไม่ได้วางแผนและคนในครอบครัวเกิดความเจ็บป่วย นำไปสู่การเปลี่ยนแปลงฉับพลันระดับจุลภาค (Microdisruptions) ซึ่งกลุ่มตัวอย่างรับรู้ถึงอุปสรรคจากการเปลี่ยนแปลง 6 มิติ ได้แก่ 1) เวลา 2) ทักษะการทำงาน 3) บทบาทหน้าที่ 4) วิถีการดำเนินชีวิต 5) การเงิน และ 6) สถานที่ และส่งผลกระทบทางลบต่อตนเองทั้งด้านสุขภาพจิตใจและร่างกาย ในการสื่อสารเพื่อสร้างภาวะล้มแล้วลุก กลุ่มตัวอย่างพนักงานที่เป็นแม่มีการสื่อสารเพื่อสร้างภาวะล้มแล้วลุกในทุกระดับในระบบนิเวศการสื่อสารองค์กร ดังนี้: ในระบบจุลภาค (ได้แก่ การสื่อสารภายในตนเองและระหว่างบุคคล) กลุ่มตัวอย่างสื่อสารภายในตนเอง 3 ระยะ คือ ในระยะที่ 1 มุมมองแรกต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงมีทั้งบวกและลบ ระยะที่ 2 การสื่อสารภายในบุคคลเพื่อก้าวข้ามความรู้สึกเชิงลบ แบ่งออกเป็น 4 ลักษณะ ได้แก่ บอกตัวเองให้ 1) คิดหาวิธีแก้ 2) อดทน 3) มองเป็นความท้าทาย 4) มองการเปลี่ยนแปลงเป็นเรื่องธรรมดา และระยะที่ 3 การสื่อสารความตั้งใจที่จะกระทำหรือการกระทำเพื่อสร้างภาวะล้มแล้วลุก แบ่งออกเป็น 5 กระบวนการ …

การศึกษาประสิทธิภาพในการปฏิบัติงานของกองแบบแผน กรมสนับสนุนบริการสุขภาพกรณีศึกษา : กระบวนการออกแบบก่อสร้างอาคารสถานบริการสุขภาพ, ตวงพร ปัญญาธรรม

การศึกษาในครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาประสิทธิภาพในการปฏิบัติงานของกองแบบแผน กรมสนับสนุนบริการสุขภาพ ในการออกแบบก่อสร้างอาคารสถานบริการสุขภาพ และ 2) ศึกษาแนวทางในการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการปฏิบัติงานในกระบวนการดังกล่าว ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ใช้การเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยการสัมภาษณ์ผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบสัมภาษณ์แบบกึ่งโครงสร้าง และใช้เทคนิคการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก ประกอบกับการศึกษาค้นคว้าเอกสาร แนวคิดทฤษฎี และงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง ผลการศึกษาพบว่า 1) ด้านปริมาณงาน ตัวเลขปริมาณงานที่ผู้รับบริการร้องขอความอนุเคราะห์ออกแบบในแต่ละปีงบประมาณมีจำนวนมาก ทำให้หน่วยงานไม่สามารถตอบสนองต่อผู้รับบริการได้ทั้งหมด เนื่องจากมีบุคลากรไม่เพียงพอ และไม่สอดคล้องกับปริมาณงานที่ได้รับมอบหมาย 2) ด้านคุณภาพ ในภาพรวมความพึงพอใจของผู้รับบริการ ที่มีต่อกระบวนการออกแบบก่อสร้างอาคารสถานบริการสุขภาพ ของกองแบบแผน ในช่วง 3 ปีงบประมาณ อยู่ในระดับมาก โดยผู้รับบริการมีความพึงพอใจในด้านเจ้าหน้าที่ผู้ให้บริการ ในประเด็นของการมีความรู้ความสามารถในการให้บริการมากที่สุด 3) ด้านเวลา ภาพรวมการออกแบบแล้วเสร็จทันตามกำหนดเวลาคิดเป็นร้อยละ 81.48 ซึ่งเป็นการเปรียบเทียบระหว่างจำนวนแบบเป้าหมายของหน่วยงานที่กำหนด กับจำนวนแบบที่ดำเนินการแล้วเสร็จทันตามกำหนดเวลา 4) ด้านค่าใช้จ่าย พบว่าต้นทุนค่าใช้จ่ายในการออกแบบก่อสร้างโดยกองแบบแผนเมื่อเทียบกับการจ้างเอกชนออกแบบ จะมีส่วนต่างค่าใช้จ่ายที่ถูกกว่าในภาพรวมคิดเป็นร้อยละ 48.95 แนวทางการเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพการปฏิบัติงาน หน่วยงานควรมีการทบทวนการจัดโครงสร้างของหน่วยงาน และวางอัตรากำลังบุคลากรให้เหมาะสมกับปริมาณงาน รวมถึงการพิจารณากำหนดค่าเป้าหมายของแบบที่จะดำเนินการในแต่ละปีของหน่วยงานให้มีความสอดคล้องกับจำนวนปริมาณงาน เพื่อตอบสนองกับความต้องการของผู้รับบริการได้มากยิ่งขึ้น ตลอดจนการนำระบบเทคโนโลยีที่ทันสมัยมาใช้ในการออกแบบและจัดทำแบบก่อสร้างเพื่อลดขั้นตอน และประหยัดเวลาและค่าใช้จ่ายได้มากยิ่งขึ้น

Among the objective of this research are to study the brand equity and purchase intention of Oppo consumers and the relationship between brand equity and the purchase intention of Oppo consumers. The total number of participants in this study is two hundred and forty-two Thai consumers aged 18-45, who were required to complete the online questionnaire. The result portraited that, in general, Thai consumers’ perception toward the Oppo brand’s equity is positive with an average mean value (M = 3.25). นับตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2549 ประเทศไทยเผชิญกับความถดถอยของประชาธิปไตยพร้อมกับการเปลี่ยนผ่านจากการเมืองของชนชั้นนำไปสู่การเมืองของมวลชน โดยมีปรากฏการณ์ที่มวลชนคู่ขัดแย้งสองฝ่ายต่างยึดถือความชอบธรรมคนละชุดและออกมาเคลื่อนไหวทางการเมือง ฝ่ายหนึ่งต่อต้านประชาธิปไตยยึดหลักความชอบธรรมแบบการปกครองตามจารีตประเพณีที่ดำเนินการตามอุดมการณ์หลักอย่าง “ ชาติ ศาสนา พระมหากษัตริย์” และอีกฝ่ายหนึ่งสนับสนุนประชาธิปไตยยึดหลักความชอบธรรมความถูกต้องตามกฎหมาย มีวาทกรรมจำนวนมากที่ถูกสร้างขึ้นเพื่อสนับสนุนความชอบธรรมของขบวนการเคลื่อนไหว แต่คำที่ถูกผลิตซ้ำและมีอิทธิพลต่อการเมืองไทยคือคำว่า “คนดี”และ “ความดี” ซึ่งสิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือมวลชนที่ให้คุณค่ากับวาทกรรม“คนดี”และ “ความดี” มีแต่ในขบวนการต่อต้านทักษิณเท่านั้น วิทยานิพนธ์นี้จึงมุ่งศึกษาความหมายของคำว่า “คนดี”และ “ความดี”ของแต่ละกลุ่มภายใต้ขบวนการต่อต้านทักษิณ สาเหตุที่ขบวนการต่อต้านทักษิณใช้วาทกรรม“คนดี”และ “ความดี”มาเป็นเครื่องมือในการสร้างความชอบธรรมและท้ายที่สุดวาทกรรมดังกล่าวส่งผลต่อการเมืองไทยอย่างไรในปัจจุบัน โดยใช้วาทกรรมวิเคราะห์เชิงวิพากษ์ (Critical Discourse Analysis: CDA) มาเป็นเครื่องมือในการศึกษาเพื่อให้สามารถสะท้อนหลักคิดเบื้องหลังวาทกรรมที่ขบวนการเคลื่อนไหวยึดมั่นและนำมาใช้เป็นความชอบธรรมในการชุมนุม ผลการศึกษาพบว่าภายใต้ขบวนการต่อต้านทักษิณมีการให้ความหมาย “คนดี”และ “ความดี” อย่างหลากหลายโดยได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากศาสนาพุทธผสมผสานกับลัทธิขงจื่อ ขบวนการฯใช้หลักการทางศาสนาเป็นแกนหลักในการเคลื่อนไหวและสร้างความชอบธรรมให้กับตนเอง ข้อเสนอของขบวนการต่อต้านทักษิณไม่เพียงแต่ขับไล่รัฐบาลเท่านั้น แต่พวกเขายังมีความพยายามเสนอรูปแบบการปกครองแบบใหม่ที่มีลักษณะเฉพาะให้ความสำคัญกับหลักคุณธรรมมากกว่าวิถีทางตามหลักประชาธิปไตยแบบสากลซึ่งส่งผลต่อการเลือกตั้งในปีพ.ศ. 2562 อย่างมีนัยสำคัญ

การวิจัยนี้เป็นวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาพลวัตของอำนาจทางการเมืองและศึกษารูปแบบและวิธีการรักษาอำนาจทางการเมืองของตระกูลการเมืองท้องถิ่นจังหวัดชลบุรี ตั้งแต่เหตุการณ์รัฐประหารปี 2557 จนถึงการเลือกตั้งท้องถิ่นปี 2564 เก็บข้อมูลโดยการศึกษาเอกสาร และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกจากผู้ให้ข้อมูลหลัก 15 คน วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงเนื้อหา และนำเสนอผลการวิจัยเชิงพรรณนา ผลการศึกษา พบว่า ตระกูลคุณปลื้มปรับตัวภายใต้ปกครองระบอบอำนาจนิยมโดยการไม่แสดงการต่อต้านการปกครองโดยคณะรัฐประหาร และตัดสินใจเข้าร่วมพรรคการเมืองฝั่งทหารเพื่อการฟื้นฟูอำนาจของตน แต่ผลกระทบทางอ้อม คือ ก่อให้เกิดกลุ่มท้าทายอำนาจสองกลุ่ม ได้แก่ 1) กลุ่มการเมืองในเครือข่ายพรรคก้าวไกล (พรรคอนาคตใหม่เดิม) ซึ่งเป็นขั้วตรงข้ามที่ชูนโยบายต่อต้านการสืบทอดอำนาจเผด็จการทหาร 2) กลุ่มการเมืองของนายสุชาติ ชมกลิ่น ที่แยกตัวออกจากบ้านใหญ่ชลบุรีหลังจากการแลกเปลี่ยนผลประโยชน์ไม่ลงตัวในการเลือกตั้งปี 2562 ทั้งสองกลุ่มกลายมาเป็นคู่แข่งสำคัญในจังหวัดชลบุรี โดยกลุ่มแรกดึงคะแนนเสียงจากคนรุ่นใหม่และชนชั้นกลางที่ไม่ได้มีความยึดโยงกับตระกูลคุณปลื้ม ส่วนกลุ่มที่สองดึงนักการเมืองบางส่วนที่ไม่เห็นด้วยกับการปรับแนวทางการบริหารเครือข่ายบ้านใหญ่ที่เน้นการอุปถัมภ์ช่วยเหลือผ่านอำนาจในระบบราชการมากกว่าการให้เงินส่วนตัวแบบดั้งเดิม อย่างไรก็ตาม ตระกูลคุณปลื้มยังคงรักษาโครงสร้างอำนาจท้องถิ่นแบบขั้วเดียวในจังหวัดชลบุรีได้ผ่านวิธีการเปลี่ยนขั้วทางการเมืองเพื่อเข้าร่วมฝั่งรัฐบาลในการเมืองระดับชาติ วิธีการจัดสรรผลประโยชน์ภายในเครือข่ายบ้านใหญ่ชลบุรีและสร้างเครือข่ายอุปถัมภ์เชื่อมโยงตระกูลคุณปลื้มกับประชาชนในการเมืองระดับท้องถิ่น

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) วิเคราะห์การปฏิบัติงานแบบ FAST Government กรณีศึกษากรมสรรพากร และกรมการขนส่งทางบก (2) ศึกษาระดับขององค์การในการเป็นองค์การแบบ FAST Government (3) ศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคของการปรับเปลี่ยนองค์การแบบ FAST Government โดย FAST Government แบ่งออกเป็น 4 ปัจจัย ได้แก่ Flatter Government (รัฐบาลแนวราบ) Agile Government (รัฐบาลแบบคล่องตัว) Streamlined Government (รัฐบาลแบบมีประสิทธิภาพสูงสุด) Tech-enabled Government (รัฐบาลอิเล็กทรอนิกส์) ซึ่งระเบียบวิธีการวิจัยที่ใช้ในงานวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยแบบพหุวิธี (Multi Methods) โดยใช้วิธีการเชิงคุณภาพในการศึกษาการปฏิบัติงาน ปัญหา และอุปสรรคของกรมสรรพากรและกรมการขนส่งทางบกในการปรับองค์การแบบ FAST Government โดยการสัมภาษณ์บุคลากรกรมสรรพากร กรมการขนส่งทางบก และบุคลากรหน่วยงานอื่นๆที่เกี่ยวข้อง จำนวน 12 คน และใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ ในการวิเคราะห์ระดับขององค์การในการเป็นองค์การแบบ FAST Government จากการใช้แบบสอบถามและวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนา (Descriptive Statistics) จากผลการวิจัย พบว่า กรมสรรพากรและกรมการขนส่งทางบกมีการปฏิบัติงานแบบ FAST Government ที่มีความคล้ายคลึงกัน คือมีความพยายามในการปรับเปลี่ยนรูปแบบในการปฏิบัติงาน เพื่อความรวดเร็ว ตอบสนองความต้องการของประชาชนมากขึ้น โดยการนำเทคโนโลยีและวิธีการปฏิบัติงานแบบคล่องตัว (Agile) เข้ามาประยุกต์ใช้ โดยกรมสรรพากรและกรมการขนส่งทางบก มีระดับการเป็นองค์การแบบ FAST Government ในภาพรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง ปัญหาอุปสรรคของโครงสร้างที่มีขนาดใหญ่อาจทำให้เกิดความล่าช้า ไม่คล่องตัวได้ตามที่ทั้งสองกรมต้องการ อีกทั้งบุคลากรยังขาดความรู้ความชำนาญในการใช้เทคโนโลยี

This study investigates the characteristics, nature and extent of proposed audit adjustments to the financial statements of listed companies in Singapore. Data was gathered from the 2018 to 2020 financial statements of 412 companies, along with views of close to 280 audit committee chairs and heads of finance (or similar designations) on the effectiveness of their companies’ finance function.

Age segregation adversely impacts health and wellbeing. Prior studies, although limited, report increasing age segregation of the US. However, these studies are dated, do not comprehensively examine the spatiotemporal patterns and the correlates of intergenerational segregation, or suffer from methodological limitations. To address these gaps, we assess the spatiotemporal patterns of age segregation between 1990 and 2010 using census-tract data to compute the dissimilarity index (D) at the national, state, and county levels. Results contradict previous findings providing robust evidence of decreasing age segregation for most parts of the country and across geographical levels. In 2017, Congress created the Opportunity Zone (“OZ”) program to stimulate economic growth in low-income communities. The program was characterized by its unprecedented scale relative to previous place-based development efforts and was described as “perhaps the most ambitious economic development tool to come out of Congress in a generation.” However, the program was quickly criticized on numerous grounds, and its design flaws are so severe that several legislators have called for its reform or repeal.

Continental North America has been found to be a carbon (C) sink over recent decades by multiple studies employing a variety of estimation approaches. However, several key questions and uncertainties remain with these assessments. Here we used results from an ensemble of 19 state-of-the-art dynamic global vegetation models from the TRENDYv9 project to improve these estimates and study the drivers of its interannual variability. The most significant case of transnational state capitalism today is China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) which seeks to expand/extend the country's geoeconomic and geopolitical integrations globally. We conceptualise the BRI as manifest principally through industrial offshoring, infrastructure investments and exports from China. These vectors articulate with particular places, forming transnational couplings that shape development outcomes. We examine the BRI's couplings and their development implications in the East African countries of Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya where China has engaged significantly. We demonstrate the contingent manner of BRI's variegations; its pragmatism, flexibility, and limitations as a hegemonic or developmental project.

As human impacts from wildfires mount, there is a pressing need to understand why structures are lost in destructive fires. Despite growing research on factors contributing to structure loss, fewer studies have focused on why some fires are destructive and others are not. We characterized overall differences between fires that resulted in structure loss (“destructive fires”) and those that did not (“non-destructive wildfires”) across three California regions. Then, we performed statistical analyses on large fires only (≥100 ha) to distinguish the primary differences between large destructive large fires and large non-destructive fires. The Pacific walrus (Odobenus rosmarus divergens) relies on sea-ice floes in the St. Lawrence Island (SLI) and Wainwright regions of the Bering and Chukchi seas surrounding Alaska as a platform for rest, feeding and reproduction. Rap on Trial, the treatment of rap music as evidence in the American criminal legal process, is well-documented and increasingly scrutinised. Research has shown that – with little restraint – police, prosecutors, probation officers and judges use rap lyrics to investigate, prosecute and punish individuals. Less noticed is that a similar phenomenon is occurring in the American K–12 educational system, which disciplines school-age youth who participate in rap culture and sometimes refers them to the juvenile or criminal legal systems for additional punishment.
