Introduction

People living in obesogenic environments, with limited access to healthful food outlets and exercise facilities, generally have poor health. Previous research suggests that behavioral risk factors and indicators of physiological functioning may mediate this link; however, no studies to date have had the requisite data to investigate multi-level behavioral and physiological risk factors simultaneously. The present study conducted serial and parallel mediation analyses to examine behavioral and physiological pathways explaining the association between environmental obesogenicity and cardiovascular disease (CVD).

This study focused on the development of a mathematical model required for estimating the number of adopters of ICT devices among libraries located in Nigeria. Data for this study was collected from 121 respondents selected based on a research survey approach using simple random sampling. 9 ICT devices were identified, namely: PCs, printers/fax machines, search engines, e-library systems, bulk SMS services, library management systems, bar/QR code readers, projectors and video conferencing. NPS is a new chemical synthesis designed to imitate the psychoactive effects of legally controlled drugs. Developing and establishing flexible and appropriate legislation is necessary to monitor the circulation and abuse of NPS. This article uses a qualitative method with a normative legal approach based on secondary evidence (literature review). In April 2020, we examined the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on undergraduates, mental health distress, and decreases in grades during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic via a national online survey. The current study is a follow-up to this survey a year later in April 2021. Undergraduate students were recruited for a survey both years (two independent random samples) via instructor announcements, email, listserv, or social media. In spring 2020, higher depressive symptoms, general anxiety, and academic distress were associated with a reported decline in grades. Perceived grade declines were also correlated with higher financial concerns and risk for …

The development of chess engines has affected nearly every facet of the game, including approach to study, gameplay, and spectating. This has caused considerable controversy in the chess community. This paper aims to show the changes effectuated by these engines have been largely beneficial to the game. Research was conducted by reviewing scholarly articles, interviews with top chess players, and analyzing chess games. While there have been some changes that can be considered harmful to the art form of chess, the popularization and accessibility provided by these engines led to greater changes within the chess community.

This dissertation uses comparative analysis of four nineteenth century Hispanic sites to examine the daily practices by Hispanic residents of acquiring and consuming material goods (1821–1912). Through the practice of consumption, Hispanics created and reinforced social relationships with the groups who bartered or sold them goods. In frontier New Mexico consumer relationships reflected important networks that may have played a role in the creation and maintenance of modern Hispanic identity after U.S. annexation. The nineteenth century was a key moment in the developing racialization of Hispanic identity in New Mexico, which makes it a vital period of study for archaeologists …

在过去的十年中，人们对建立测试分数与外部语言能力等级量表或框架 —— 如欧洲共同语言参考框架 (Common European Framework of Reference, CEFR) —— 之间的对接关系的兴趣日益浓厚。对接本质上是一个验证假设的过程，即对考试分数与外部语言能力等级的对应关系假设进行验证。研究应认真落实和记录既定程序，并应收集多种来源的证据，以支撑关于对应关系的假设。本研究旨在建立一项国际英语能力测试与中国本地化英语能力标准——《中国英语能力等级量表》(China’s Standards of English Language Ability, CSE) —— 之间的对接关系，展示了提出并验证假设的步骤。将国际考试分数对接到本地化标准有助于使考试成绩解释与其预期使用环境的相关性更高。鉴于基于分数的决策对个人和机构的潜在影响，本研究也讨论了用本地化的能力等级来解释考试分数时应考虑的语境问题。文章结尾对同类对接研究的开展提出了一些建议。
