Workers with both archivist and librarian responsibilities were surveyed to examine their experience of this dual role. Their self-identity, training, responsibilities, and place of work are explored, as well as their feeling of being prepared for a dual role. This study finds that while the preponderance of respondents feel prepared, more than half regularly engage in more than 40 job activities spanning both archives and libraries. The diversity of responsibilities, combined with the tension between two distinct professions, places significant strain on those in a dual role. In the United States, 21% of adults have a mental illness. Prevalence of mental illness tends to be highest among young adults (18-25 years old) and lowest among older adults (50 years or older; National Institute of Mental Health, 2020).

Rural communities represent 19% of the United States population (Oser et al., 2022). Research has shown that rates of mental illness are the same in rural areas as in urban areas (Morales et al., 2020) and that suicide rates are significantly higher within rural communities (Brunk, 2010). However, many iconic and hidden signs are in constant danger of disappearing as populations shift and the elements naturally break down the physical aspects of the signs. In addition, neon signs in Reno and remote, Northern Nevada locales have remained relatively undiscovered. Purpose: The purpose of this phenomenological study was to identify and describe how exemplary senior Navy female leaders used five principles associated with grit (courage, conscientiousness, long-term goals, resilience, and excellence versus perfection) to accomplish extraordinary results in their organizations.

Methodology: This qualitative study used a phenomenological method to describe how eight senior Navy female leaders use five characteristics of grit to accomplish extraordinary results in their organizations. Respondents were purposively chosen. The researcher collected data through interviews, transcripts, and artifacts that were triangulated and coded for themes using NVivo software.

Motivation provides a student with a way to complete necessary tasks. Academic motivation is a form of motivation that applies to academic challenges that a student will face while in school. These challenges can demand the student use extrinsic or intrinsic motivation to complete the task. In the present study, the researchers sought to discover if the academic motivation was similar between students majoring in several different academic programs. For the study, samples of education, nursing, and psychology majors were obtained and each participant was given a battery of instruments that assessed their levels of academic motivation, self-efficacy, and self-esteem. …

Humor Styles, Psychological Well-Being, And Distress: Examining The Importance Of Resilience And Hope, Naila V. Decruz-Dixon

The current research study investigated the relationship between different adaptive and maladaptive styles of humor, psychological well-being, and distress measures. The sample for this cross-sectional analysis included 237 undergraduate students at the University of New Mexico. Zero-order correlation analyses of all the study variables revealed that adaptive humor styles were associated with greater psychological well-being and lower psychological distress symptoms while maladaptive humor styles were generally related to lower well-being and greater distress symptoms. All four humor styles were significantly associated with hope, while only affiliative and self-defeating humor were associated with resilience. Mediation analyses revealed that resilience was a …

This project sought to analyze and understand the differences in student’s cognitive and social emotional development based on their number of siblings (also referred to as family size) and birth order. To accomplish this, a 130-question survey was created and emailed to approximately 125 teachers. 27 survey responses were received, which is a response rate of approximately 21.6%. The response data was categorized by only child, oldest child, youngest child, child with one or two siblings, child with three or four siblings, and child with five or more siblings. In this theoretical piece, we discuss the limitations of using purely computational techniques to study big language data produced by people online. Instead, we advocate for mixed-method approaches that are able to more critically evaluate and consider the individual and social impact of this data. We propose one approach that combines qualitative, traditional quantitative, and computational methods for the study of language and text. Such approaches leverage the speed and expediency of computational tools while also highlighting the value of qualitative methods in critically assessing the outcome of computational results. This dissertation research determined the ability of three-dimensional (3D) simulation technology (CLO3D^TM and OptiTex^TM software) to develop digital prototypes of structured apparel designs using different creative pattern-cutting techniques. The project’s focus was to compare the similarities between physical and virtual prototypes and evaluate differences in performance between the two software programs using fit and appearance criteria. The participants’ evaluations were analyzed with their performance on the Apparel Spatial Visualization Test (ASVT) to determine whether there was a correlation between the level of performance on the ASVT and evaluation of the technologies. The present work examines the natural law jurisprudence of John Finnis. It argues that Finnis’s teaching is a genuinely new natural law theory. Finnis’s jurisprudence is not a re- presentation of the jurisprudence of St. Thomas Aquinas because its central element—a doctrine of natural rights—is a departure from Aquinas’s natural law teaching. In support of these claims, the present work relies upon the scholarship of Ernest L. Fortin, A.A. Following Fr. Fortin, it presents an understanding of the natural law that endorses a clear distinction between natural right and natural rights—between premodern political philosophy and modern political philosophy.

This research aims to know the short-term impact of the One Price Fuel program implemented in 2017 on transportation cost in underdeveloped areas of Indonesia. Observation is conducted to 585 villages since 2006, 2014 and 2018 with a total observation unit of 1,755 villages. With Difference-in-Difference analysis method, this study shows the program has a significant impact on reducing transportation costs in villages that are a radius of 15 km from the gas stations (SPBU). On the other hand, villages that are more than 15 km from distribution gas stations, do not experience a significant impact on reducing transportation cost.

After the global financial crisis, Asian banks shifted funding from core to non-core liabilities. This study examines the impact of NCL on bank lending channels in Indonesia. Analyzing data from 95 banks during 2010-2019, the study finds that loose monetary policy significantly boosts loan growth, while tight policy curbs it across all banks. Higher non-core liabilities weaken lending channels, except for domestic banks. This underscores the central bank's role in using macroprudential tools to manage optimal NCL levels for banks, especially amidst financial innovations and business developments affecting future bank funding access.

Previous research indicates that youth with conduct problems, who are overrepresented in the juvenile justice system, are at risk for utilizing a disproportionate amount of health services compared to youth without these problems. The present study investigates self-reported antisocial behavior, juvenile justice system processing type, and callous-unemotional (CU) traits as predictors of health service utilization (medical and mental health service use and out-of-home placement) across adolescence in a sample of justice-involved males from the Crossroads Study.
