The purpose of this study was to investigate Teaching Persian to Speakers of Other Languages (TPSOL) teachers' beliefs about providing corrective feedback (CF) on TPSOL students' writing. To that end, the transcendental phenomenological design was used in which the experiences and practices of six TPSOL teachers (four male and two female teachers) were examined to obtain TPSOL teachers' beliefs about providing CF on students' writing. A series of phenomenological interviews were conducted with TPSOL teachers. Moreover, students' writing samples corrected by TPSOL teachers were collected and analyzed. This dissertation consists of two papers that contribute to the estimation and inference theory of the panel data models with two-way slope heterogeneity. The first paper considers the panel quantile regression model with slope heterogeneity along both individuals and time. By modelling this two-way heterogeneity with the low-rank slope matrix, the slope coefficient can be estimated via the nuclear norm regularization followed by sample-splitting, row- and column-wise quantile regression, and debiasing. In the first chapter of the dissertation, we study the impact of floods on microlevel firm performances in China for the period 2000-2009. Among the first in the literature, we identify the flood exposure directly at the firm level by combining the high-resolution satellite-observed inundation areas with the geocoded firm locations. We find that being hit by a flood is associated with an annual loss to output and productivity of around 6% and 5%, respectively, which persists in the long run. The impacts of floods extend to non-inundated firms in neighborhoods (of 4 kilometres in radius), but the negative effects …

However, as a transitional economy, China has its unique characteristics regarding the driving forces of service outsourcing. Research has demonstrated that foster parents who experience high levels of stress and frustration with the foster care agency are more likely to consider terminating their participation in foster care agencies. This quantitative study's purpose was to explore the relationship between training and foster parents’ satisfaction in their foster care agency, and between training and foster parent retention in their foster care agency. This research evaluates the extent of ceramic shrinkage using a natural clay source that was locally available and known to be used by native populations in the American Southwest. The experiment took into account variables of temper mixture and firing temperature to assess the extent and potential need for shrinkage calibration in archaeological biometric research (specifically fingerprints). This interpretive phenomenology study aimed to explore the lived experiences of young Latinas in a rural and under-resourced community. The analysis of the messages received by young women in educational institutions, at home, and in science and math classes was necessary due to the underrepresentation of Latinas in STEM fields. Using an interpretive phenomenology lens, the researcher collected journals from seven participants. OBJECTIVE: The optimal management of pediatric craniopharyngioma patients remains controversial, shifting from radical resection (gross-total resection [GTR]) to a more conservative approach with partial resection/biopsy followed by radiotherapy (PR+RT). To the authors' knowledge, no previous studies have compared neurocognitive and quality-of-life (QOL) outcomes between the two main treatments. In this study, the authors compared changes in intellectual, adaptive, and QOL scores in children treated for craniopharyngioma with GTR and those treated with PR+RT.
