Background: Obesity is associated with serious medical conditions including diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. It also contributes to decreased productivity at work and school, financial strain, and reduced quality of life.

Purpose of Project: To address this problem, a nurse practitioner-led screening and intervention program was piloted at a primary care clinic in southern San Diego. The tool provides a standardized method for screening individuals and their families for nutrition and physical activity deficits associated with obesity, as well as appropriate and effective interventions to prevent and manage obesity.

I am interested in understanding how people behave in politically adjacent areas so that we can find the policy interventions that can best address the issues that arise from these areas. Patient prescriber agreements, also known as opioid contracts or opioid treatment agreements, have been recommended as a strategy for mitigating non-medical opioid use (NMOU). The purpose of our study was to characterize the proportion of patients with PPAs, the rate of non-adherence, and clinical predictors for PPA completion and non-adherence. This retrospective study covered consecutive cancer patients seen at a palliative care clinic at a safety net hospital between 1 September 2015 and 31 December 2019. Since Covid-19, there has been a tendency to isolate and keep to oneself. In an effort to decrease loneliness, evidence has found that wisdom can be a protective factor against loneliness. Older adults who were either married or cohabiting and were well-educated reported feeling fairly to very happy. Some additional factors associated with happiness were older age and a postgraduate degree. There are benefits of intergenerational interactions with people with wisdom. This study explored participants' socialization, loneliness, and intergenerational interactions.

In the following persuasive campaign, we aim to improve guests’ experience at the Surfrider Hotel Malibu to thus boost the company’s monetary inflow. Through the rollout of our “Get in the Water” campaign, we plan to transform guests’ perceptions of the hotel’s offerings. Furthermore, we plan to persuade guests that getting in the water is a fun and rewarding experience, ultimately improving their overall experience at the hotel and in Malibu. Initiatives, including a media-output revival and influencer-marketing events, would allow the Surfrider to connect with potential guests and advertise the possibilities of a hotel stay.

A Review Of Motivating Language Theory’S Effects On Trust In Organizations, James B. Larue

In their research, Men and colleagues (2022) investigated the influence of Motivating Language Theory (MLT) from supervisors on employee trust during the COVID-19 pandemic. Men and colleagues conducted online surveys across the United States to determine the effectiveness of empathetic, meaning-making, and direction-giving language in building trust within organizations. Results showed that empathetic language had a strong positive relationship with trust (β=.53), and direction-giving language had a weak positive relationship in satisfying employees’ need for competence (β=.32). This article is particularly relevant for organizational leaders looking to build trust with employees and those interested in psychology, communication, or business.

The paper specifically examines self-advocacy within these women and the impact that their intersecting identities may have on their ability to self-advocate. Colonialism is a long, brutal process, where natives’ identities are uprooted as colonizers establish their influence in a foreign land. Consequently, through the exploration of the natives’ response to this upheaval throughout the precolonial and colonial eras, the psychological toll that is placed on the colonized is evident. Such mental trauma that is incited is explored in Chinua Achebe’s fictional novel Things Fall Apart, which unveils the slowly lost of the natives’ identities during the precolonial shift, and the non-fiction work of Frantz Fanon, The Wretched of the Earth that details psychological disorders of the colonized due to colonization. …

According to the majority of literature it appears there are differences in specific advantages and disadvantages genders are exposed to in negotiations. This article aims to further introduce and break down the literature in order to provide a comprehensive overview of the intersections of negotiation and gender in regards to general negotiation practices, negotiations within the workplace, and what can be done to level the playing field in regards to disadvantages placed on certain genders. This article also addresses the remaining gaps in the literature and suggests where the research should move in future studies.

As misinformation continues to spread on social media, its residents have begun to fight back, independent of any platform. This organic resistance to the diffusion of misinformation is a clearly observable phenomenon with roots in Anonymous’ distributed campaigns from the 2010s outwards. Hacker and information security communities are acting in defense of some of their favorite spaces, most notably, Twitter. Security researchers of all stripes use it for sharing indicators of compromise but, as the diffusion of misinformation becomes more problematic it becomes more difficult to find signals in the noise.

Why are some constitutions amended more frequently than others? The literature provides few clear answers, as some scholars focus on institutional factors, whereas others emphasize amendment culture. We bridge this divide with new theoretical and empirical insights. Using data from democratic constitutions worldwide and U.S. state constitutions, we examine how social capital reduces the transaction costs imposed by amendment rules. The results indicate that constitutional rigidity decreases amendment frequency, but group membership, civic activism, and political trust can offset the effect of amendment rules. Consciousness is a loaded term and can mean many different things to different people. The goal of this paper is to investigate animal consciousness with an emphasis on rats. We investigated different ways of approaching the problem of animal consciousness including neuroscientific and philosophical methods. Next, we examined, a recent theory of animal consciousness in detail and examined neuroscientific evidence to support animals possessing the features described in the theory. The theory posited that consciousness includes five different components: perceptual richness, evaluative richness, self-consciousness, unity, and temporality. Community-based sanitation (CBS) is a sanitation service option with technical and institutional assistance for poor urban communities to develop sanitation infrastructure in urban areas and treat domestic wastewater in small-scale sanitation systems. The Indonesian government has implemented critical policy interventions and investments to upgrade sanitation access nationwide since the early 2000s. This research will answer how policy monitoring and governance affect community-based sanitation program delivery through cost-effectiveness analysis.
