The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the intermedia agenda-setting interplay between traditional news media and Twitter in the wake of mass shooting incidents. Applying Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling to data sourced from Twitter, national, and local news, the study investigated the distinct coverage patterns and the extent of their reciprocal influence over time. The findings of this study demonstrated that, in the immediate aftermath of a shooting incident, national news outlets exerted a significant agenda-setting influence on both local media and Twitter discourse. However, as time unfolds, a mutually influential dynamic emerged across all media platforms. …

Climate change causes various negative impacts on life, thus requiring mitigation and adaptation actions. Climate finance could support the transition to a low-carbon economy globally, including in Indonesia. However, empirical research on climate finance in Indonesia is still limited. This study uses path analysis to examine the relationship between climate finance, renewable energy mix, and carbon emissions in Indonesia from 1973 to 2020. The results show that climate finance could not directly reduce carbon emissions or promote renewable energy indirectly. These findings indicate the need to reallocate climate finance to sectors that have the potential to reduce carbon in Indonesia.

Tic disorders, such as Tourette’s Syndrome, are chronic, childhood-onset neurological conditions that involve sudden, repetitive, and involuntary motor movements and/or vocalizations. Individuals with tics often experience a premonitory urge, which is an aversive sensation that occurs right before a tic that may functionally influence tics. Previous research has suggested reinforced tic suppression can effectively reduce tics. Although effective, it may be useful to better understand the behavioral contingencies that most effectively lead to suppression. In the existing literature base, the mechanisms by which a bicultural identity leads to more positive mental health outcomes among Latine youth are not yet clearly understood. The present study aimed to clarify these relationships by examining family functioning as a possible mediating variable between Latine youth’s cultural identity-related processes (i.e., bicultural identity integration, bicultural stress, ethnic identity, parent-child acculturation differences) and mental health outcomes (i.e., internalizing/externalizing symptoms and overall well-being). The significance of ecotourism has been increasing due to its potential for biodiversity preservation, economic advancement, and the promotion of sustainability awareness. In this research, geospatial analysis and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was employed to identify feasible ecotourism sites in Bangladesh. The study applied Geographical Information System–Remote Sensing (GIS-RS) parameters and weighted overlay techniques for selected ecotourism characteristics, such as natural attractiveness, topographic features, accessibility, proximity to facilities, and community characteristics. The study found that a significant proportion (around 44%) of Bangladesh’s land exhibits high potential for ecotourism. The overwhelming majority of digital and physical attacks on journalists are done with impunity. This results in lower-quality journalism, less scrutiny of government, and less healthy societies and democracies. The international human rights law concept of transitional justice could bolster collective will and inform legal mechanisms to combat such impunity. Judges and investigators in several recent cases of attacks on journalists have invoked transitional justice concepts, including truth-telling, criminal investigations and prosecutions, reparations, and institutional reforms to guarantee non-recurrence. These mechanisms should be fully implemented to protect journalism at local, national, and international levels.

Developing an excellent quantitative trading strategy to obtain a high Sharpe ratio requires optimizing several parameters at the same time. Example parameters include the window length of a moving average sequence, the choice of trading instruments, and the thresholds used to generate trading signals. Simultaneously optimizing all these parameters to seek a high Sharpe ratio is a daunting and time-consuming task, partly because of the unknown mechanism determining the Sharpe ratio. Since customers pick up and drop off vehicles in any service region at any time, such convenience often leads to a severe imbalance between vehicle supply and demand in different service regions. Today’s companies are likely to tout how their work benefits human welfare or “makes the world a better place.” Recent research suggests that this may come with a potential financial drawback for workers, as it can inhibit them from negotiating for higher pay. Over five studies, job candidates consistently reported that they worried asking for higher pay from these companies would be seen as greedy or inappropriate. Scans of journal articles originally published in print, otherwise known as digital journal backfiles, benefit library patrons by providing near instantaneous access to important older information and full-text searchability. Digital backfiles can serve as a reliable surrogate for their corresponding print journals which could be removed from the library, freeing up space for other patron services. Both benefits are realized when the scanned articles are of sufficient clarity to replace the print versions. Several studies have analyzed small and subject-narrow sections of Elsevier’s digital backfile. Through careful examinations of the school publications, records, archival correspondence, and newspaper clippings, the article seeks to document the history of the Hungerford School from its founding in the late nineteenth century until it became a public school in the Orange County, Florida in the early 1950s. Background and Objectives

Extreme heat is an environmental health equity concern disproportionately impacting low-income older adults and people of color. Exposure factors, such as living in rental housing and lack of air conditioning, and sensitivity factors, such as chronic disease and social isolation, increase mortality risk among older adults. Older persons face multiple barriers to adaptive heat mitigation, particularly for those living in historically temperate climates. This study measures two heat vulnerability indices to identify areas and individuals most vulnerable to extreme heat and discusses opportunities to mitigate vulnerability among older adults.

This study surveyed 3,821 adults living in California about their general travel behaviors and resources, use of ride-hailing, performance ratings for the transportation system and agencies responsible for transportation, transportation system improvement priorities, and preference for how transportation funds are allocated. Key findings include the following: • Californians are multi-modal: Although driving was the most common mode, respondents reported that in the previous 30 days 66% had made a walk trip, 28% had used ridehailing, 25% had used public transit, and 22% had bicycled. • Although many respondents had at least once substituted ride-hailing for transit, walking, or bicycling and …

This work concerns the estimation of recursive route choice models in the situation that the trip observations are incomplete, i.e., there are unconnected links (or nodes) in the observations. A direct approach to handle this issue could be intractable because enumerating all paths between unconnected links (or nodes) in a real network is typically not possible. We exploit an expectation–maximization (EM) method that allows dealing with the missing-data issue by alternatively performing two steps of sampling the missing segments in the observations and solving maximum likelihood estimation problems. An automated driving system (ADS), as the brain of an autonomous vehicle (AV), should be tested thoroughly ahead of deployment. Unlike weather patterns, the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is a large-scale, cyclical climate system that is now predictable for up to a year and a half in advance. ENSO cycles occur every two to seven years for approximately two years at a time, affecting large swaths of the globe with plausibly random variation in the exact location and strength of local effects. However, its systemic nature allows for aggregate effects to be accounted for by its outcomes. การศึกษาการบำบัดโลหะในน้ำเสียจากห้องปฏิบัติการวิเคราะห์คุณภาพน้ำด้วยชานอ้อย มีวัตถุประสงค์ในการ ศึกษาประสิทธิภาพในการดูดซับ สภาวะที่เหมาะสม และค่าใช้จ่ายในการบำบัด ซึ่งโลหะที่ปนเปื้อนในน้ำเสีย ได้แก่ โครเมียม, แมกนีเซียม, เหล็ก, แมงกานีส, แคดเมียม, เงิน และปรอท ทำการวิเคราะห์ด้วยเครื่อง Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) และ Mercury Analyzer และทำการทดสอบนัยสำคัญของข้อมูลด้วยวิธี Turkey's Honesty Significant Difference (HSD) ที่ความเชื่อมั่น 95% (p < 0.05) จากผลการศึกษาแสดงให้เห็นว่า สภาวะที่เหมาะสมในการบำบัดโลหะ ได้แก่ พีเอช 9 ปริมาณชานอ้อย 25 กรัมต่อลิตร และระยะเวลาในการสัมผัส 90 นาที กลุ่มชานอ้อยที่มีประสิทธิภาพในการบำบัดสูงที่สุด คือ ชานอ้อยที่ ปรับสภาพ ขนาด 0.045-1.00 มม. และมีความแตกต่างอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p <0.05) จากชานอ้อยกลุ่มอื่นๆ ซึ่งความเข้มข้นของโลหะภายหลังจากการบำบัดในสภาวะที่เหมาะสม ได้แก่ แคดเมียม 0.021 มก./ลิตร, โครเมียม 0.053 มก./ลิตร, เหล็ก 0.078 มก./ลิตร, ปรอท 3.010 มก./ลิตร, แมกนีเซียม 35.920 มก./ลิตร, แมงกานีส 77.100 มก./ลิตร และเงินไม่สามารถตรวจวัดได้

การวิจัยนี้ได้ทำการศึกษาเพื่อหาประสิทธิภาพการบำบัดน้ำเสียฟาร์มสุกรโดยบึงประดิษฐ์ และเพื่อหาแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์การกำจัด BOD ของบึงประดิษฐ์โดยใช้น้ำเสียฟาร์มสุกรที่ผ่านการบำบัดขั้นด้นจากบ่อผึ่ง และ ได้ทำการศึกษาบึงประดิษฐ์โดยใช้พืช 2 ชนิด คือ กกกลม (Cyperus corymbosus Rottb.) และ ธูปฤาษี (Typha angustifolia Linn.) ที่เวลากักพัก ชลศาสตร์ 4-27 วัน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ประสิทธิภาพการกำจัด COD และ BOD อยู่ในช่วง 64-92% TSS อยู่ในช่วง 70-97% TKN อยู่ในช่วง 72-96% NO₃N อยู่ในช่วง 47-83% TP อยู่ในช่วง 39-81% และ Total Coliform Bacteria อยู่ในช่วง 52-85% สำหรับแบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์การกำจัด BOD ของบึง ประดิษฐ์คือ C_e/C₀ = Fxp(-0.7K_TA_v ^1.75t) ซึ่งจากการวิจัยได้ค่าคงที่ F ของบึงประดิษฐ์กกลมและบึงประดิษฐ์ธูปฤาษีเท่ากับ 0.463 และ 0.566 ตามลำดับ และค่า KT ของบึงประดิษฐ์กกกลมและบึงประดิษฐ์ธูปฤาษีเท่ากับ 0.00012 และ 0.00020 ตามลำดับ โดยสามารถใช้ค่าคงที่ดังกล่าวได้ก็ต่อเมื่อบึงประดิษฐ์มีเวลากักพักชลศาสตร์อยู่ในช่วง 4-27 วัน คำสำคัญ : บึงประดิษฐ์ การบำบัดน้ำเสียฟาร์มสุกร, แบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์การกำจัด BOD
