In 2022, more than 13 million children went to school hungry in the United States. According to the USDA, 1 in 5 children do not know where their next meal is coming from (Child Hunger in America, n.d.). In Tennessee, this number is 1 in 4 (Hance, 2020). Far too many students come from households where they may not have access to regular, nutritious meals. Hunger can significantly impact a child's ability to learn and thrive in school. By providing free breakfast and lunch, schools can ensure that students have access to essential nutrition, which can improve their academic performance …

NASA's decision to resume manned deep space mission, first to the Moon and then Mars, necessitated a detailed assessment of the potential health effects that astronauts may experience on long-duration missions. Multiple studies suggest that there may be significant space radiation (SR)-induced impairment of neurocognitive processes, including advanced executive functions. However, given the multitude of SR-induced changes in the CNS, it is possible that completely different SR-induced sequelae will be induced in previously exposed individuals. Thus, current risk estimates are likely to be pertinent only for the early stages of a deep space mission, and even then only for astronauts …

The U.S. Center for SafeSport (SafeSport) was founded to prevent sexual abuse in sport and provide educational training around abuse prevention. According to SafeSport’s centralized disciplinary database, 80 USA Wrestling coaches have been listed as ineligible, suspended, restricted, or permanently ineligible from 2005 to 2023. This case study sought to examine wrestling coaches’ perspectives on SafeSport and its effectiveness in preventing sexual abuse in the sport of wrestling. Twelve wrestling coaches participated in semi-structured interviews and described the effectiveness of SafeSport, how SafeSport should be enforced, and strategies to successfully implement SafeSport. This paper investigates how management attitudes within companies influence the uptake of Paternity Leave (PL) and the request for flexible working arrangements among men, contributing to family care. It explores the flexibility stigma and gender stereotypes that act as barriers to men taking PL, referencing global examples to underscore the relevance of incentivized leaves and supportive leadership. The study focuses on balancing work-life responsibilities and challenges the notion that effective fatherhood equates to financial provision alone. It also examines the phenomenon of pluralistic ignorance, where men's perceptions of colleagues' attitudes impact their decisions about PL.

The following article presents a historical and anthropological analysis of the political context experienced in Puerto Rico during the 1960s and 1970s, within the Cold War and the Vietnam War period. Since 1898, Puerto Rico has been a US territory and since 1952, a Commonwealth. This research critically investigates the public diplomacy strategies deployed by a cohort of influential female European leaders on Twitter during the Russo-Ukrainian War of 2022-2023. Healthy Community Coalition (HCC), in coordination with the Rural Health Action Network (RHAN) of greater Franklin County, is implementing a multi-faceted outreach program to improve health outcomes among the rural poor living with chronic conditions in greater Franklin County, Maine. One cause of gentrification and displacement of multi-generational communities of color has been the increase of private equity firms buying affordable homes, upgrading them, raising rents, and evicting tenants. This paper focuses on housing financialization and the increasing shift from the use value of housing as a place to live to the exchange value of housing as a commodity and investment for corporate profit. Plastic pollution from freshwater and atmospheric sources into coastal and marine environments is complex and the extent is largely unquantified. Such a gap in knowledge of marine microplastic sources, fate, and transport requires a spectrum of engineers and scientists, so that technical, social, and policy solutions can be developed. Citizen scientists are low cost and can collect an abundance of field data. Experienced scientists can complete costly but advanced analytical analyses on a smaller sample of plastics. Bastian et al. (2012) argued that the meat paradox—caring for animals yet eating them—creates a tension between people’s moral standards (caring for animals) and their behavior (eating them) that can be resolved via mechanisms of motivated moral disengagement. One disengagement mechanism that is thought to play a central role is the denial of food-animal minds and therefore their status as moral patients. This idea has garnered substantial interest and has framed much of the psychological approach to meat consumption. We subjected Studies 1 and 2 of Bastian et al. (2012) to high-powered direct replications and found support for the target …
