Informed by integrative models of cultural resilience, the purpose of this study was to (a) explore how parents are promoting their children's emotional and physical health, with a focus on race and ethnic-racial socialization strategies, and (b) identify the barriers and challenges parents are experiencing in supporting their children's health. Ethnically racially matched qualitative interviews were conducted with 33 parents (82% women, 64% Black, 36% Latiné). This report presents the Phase II findings of a collaborative study by APCEIU and ACER which aims to expand efforts to monitor Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4.7 by addressing critical evidence gaps regarding country participation and educational settings. Phase I of this study included three countries in the Asia-Pacific region (Australia, Philippines and South Korea) and targeted primary school settings. Phase I answered research questions about the enabling conditions that support effective global citizenship education (GCED); how these conditions can inform instrument development to measure system, school, and teacher readiness to implement GCED; and recommendations for Phase II. This research examines the influence of rural-urban migration on China's pension insurance system. China's urban-rural structure is rapidly transforming. Consequently, the migration of populations from rural to urban areas has significantly impacted the social security system, especially the pension insurance system. This study analyzes data from 141,456 respondents using a binomial logistic regression model to explore the key factors influencing individual participation in pension insurance for the urban working group. The results indicate that education level, income, employment status, workplace, and residential area significantly affect pension insurance participation. Gendered divisions of labor are a feature of every known contemporary hunter-gatherer (forager) society. While gender roles are certainly flexible, and prominent and well-studied cases of female hunting do exist, it is more often men who hunt. A new study (Anderson et al., 2023) surveyed ethnographically known foragers and found that women hunt in 79% of foraging societies, with big-game hunting occurring in 33%. Based on this single type of labor, which is one among dozens performed in foraging societies, the authors question the existence of gendered division of labor altogether. This study, guided by the Social Determinants of Health framework and Social Ecological Model, examined how SDOH impact the presence of anxiety during adolescence. This study set out to understand what sociocultural determinants predict anxiety, using the 2018 National Survey of Children’s Health dataset. The analysis included a logistic regression to determine the predictability of SDOH on anxiety in adolescence. The results indicated that various SDOH are significant predictors of anxiety, while also indicating that the absence of adverse SDOH predicts the lack of anxiety. Further, unique findings related to race/ethnicity, age, and gender set the stage for additional research …

Fertility rates have long been a subject of extensive research. In our constantly evolving world, economists have examined these rates across different times and regions to understand how cultural and economic factors influence women’s fertility. This paper analyzes historically significant factors to determine if their impact has changed over time, aiming to inform policies addressing the declining fertility trend. Data from the IPUMS USA 2021 census was used, estimated through a logit odds ratio regression with robust standard errors, and analyzed at the ten, five, and one percent significance levels. To dissociate aftereffects of size and density in the perception of relative numerosity, large or small adapter sizes were crossed with high or low adapter densities. A total of 48 participants were included in this preregistered design. To adapt the same retinotopic region as the large adapters, the small adapters were flashed in a sequence so as to “paint” the adapting density across the large region. Perceived numerosities and sizes in the adapted region were then compared to those in an unadapted region in separate blocks of trials, so that changes in density could be inferred. The design of technology can result in unintended and unethical consequences. Despite a recent upswing in interventions for enabling more ethical technology design, however, there is little empirical evidence on which strategies work and why. In this review and provocation, we detail how research on the psychology of belief and behavior change can help shift ethical culture within technology design teams, organizations, and the industry more broadly. We suggest three approaches, each supported by empirical evidence: (1) questioning intuitive assumptions, (2) highlighting system complexity, and (3) targeting social and organizational structures. งานวิจัยนี้ศึกษาถึงประสิทธิภาพในการบำบัด BOD, TKN และ TSS ของพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่สร้างขึ้นแบบไหลอิสระเหนือผิวดินในการบำบัดน้ำเสียจากโรงงานน้ำยางข้นที่ผ่านการบำบัดมาแล้ว โดยทำการเปรียบเทียบระดับน้ำในพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่สร้างขึ้น 3 ระดับ คือ 0.15,0.30 และ 0.45 เมตร และการใช้พืชสองชนิด คือ ต้นธูปฤาษี (Typha angustifolia) และต้นบอน (Colocasia esculenta) ซึ่งทำการเปรียบเทียบกับพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่ไม่ปลูกพืชใดๆ พื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่มีต้นบอนและมีระดับน้ำ 0.15 เมตร มีประสิทธิภาพในการลดค่า BOD₅ ได้ดีที่สุด โดยมีค่าเฉลี่ยของประสิทธิภาพเท่ากับร้อยละ 79.95 ± 4.90 ส่วนพื้นที่ ชุ่มน้ำที่ปลูกต้นธูปฤาษีมีประสิทธิภาพในการกำจัด BOD₅ ค่อนข้างต่ำ ส่วนประสิทธิภาพในการกำจัด TKN ของพื้นที่ ชุ่มน้ำที่มีต้นธูปฤาษี และพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่ไม่ปลูกพืชใดๆ มีค่าใกล้เคียงกันในระดับน้ำทุกระดับ และประสิทธิภาพดีกว่าพื้นที่ ชุ่มน้ำที่มีต้นบอนอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ โดยประสิทธิภาพของพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่ระดับ 0.15เมตร ที่มีต้นธูปฤาษีไม่มีพืช และ ต้นบอน เท่ากับ 65.63±9.17,67.26±6.24และ 62.40±9.89 ตามลำดับ โดยทั่วไปพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่มีพืชสามารถลดปริมาณ ของ TSS ได้ดีกว่าพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำที่ไม่มีพืช โดยพื้นที่ชุ่มน้ำซึ่งมีระดับน้ำ 0.15 เมตร และมีต้นบอนให้ประสิทธิภาพสูงสุด คือ ร้อยละ 85.93±5.56

This article describes the collaborative process involved in selecting the streaming service Kanopy as a learning resource for in-person and distance instruction in a university setting. The process of implementing the service, as well as the service’s special features that aided in that process are outlined. This article discusses how Kanopy has been used for marketing library resources and outreach to our academic community. Moving forward, strategies will be employed to transition our patronage’s sentiment of Kanopy from a resource for entertainment, to a research tool as well.

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are materials such as books, articles, videos of lectures, and other resources provided to students free of charge. The increase in textbook costs has caused students to depend upon OERs. OERs are excellent teaching resources for students and instructors because they are free or low-cost and easy to adapt to instructor curricula. Furthermore, they can help students from low-income families save money. This paper will discuss the importance, challenges, and benefits of open educational resources in higher education institutions.

Since 2021, the American Library Association has reported a marked increase in the number of book challenges in the United States. Public and school libraries, where most of these attempts at censorship occur, frequently celebrate Banned Books Week each fall, to raise awareness about the ongoing threat to intellectual freedom. College and university libraries face fewer book challenges and might not celebrate Banned Books Week; however, given the rise in number and visibility of conversations surrounding book banning, hosting events on the week’s theme offers academic libraries a way to engage their students thoughtfully in civic conversations. โครงการวิจัยเรื่อง "การถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยีสู่ชุมชน ศึกษากรณี การพัฒนาระบบการย้อมสีและบำบัดน้ำเสียที่เหมาะสมในอุตสาหกรรมทอผ้าฝ้ายพื้นเมืองด้วยมือเพื่อโอกาสในการส่งออก" มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อให้เกิดความร่วมมือระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยกับชุมชนในการนำผลการศึกษาจากห้องปฏิบัติการมาสร้างระบบบำบัดน้ำเสียให้ชุมชนที่ทอผ้าฝ้ายพื้นเมืองสามารถดำเนินการ และดูแลเองได้ด้วยวิธีการง่าย ๆ ไม่ซับซ้อน เพื่อนำไปสู่การจัดตั้งศูนย์ประสานงานถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยี สู่ชุมชน เพื่อพัฒนาคุณภาพของผลิตภัณฑ์โครงการ"หนึ่งตำบล หนึ่งผลิตภัณฑ์" (OTOP) และเพื่อขจัดการใช้ปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมเป็นข้ออ้างในการกีดกันสินค้าส่งออก ให้มีโอกาสส่งผลิตภัณฑ์ไปขายยังต่างประเทศ
ผลการศึกษา
1. ผลการรักษาจากครัวเรือนทอผ้าตัวอย่าง
จากการศึกษาพบว่า อาชีพการย้อมผ้าทอผ้า เดิมเป็นงานของผู้หญิงในหมู่บ้าน เป็นวัฒนธรรมมาตังแต่ดั้งเดิมว่าผู้หญิงจะต้องทอผ้าใช้เองได้ ปัจจุบันได้พัฒนามาเป็นสินค้า OTOP รัฐบาลมีนโยบายส่งเสริมอย่างเต็มที่เพื่อให้สามารถส่งออกนำรายได้มาสู่ครอบครัว สู่ประเทศชาติ ผู้ศึกษาได้กำหนดพื้นที่ ณ อำเภอบานไร่ จังหวัดอุทัยธานี รวม 75 ครัวเรือนทอผ้าตัวอย่าง
1) การใช้สีย้อมด้ายฝ้าย แบ่งออกเป็นการย้อมด้วยสีธรรมชาติและสีเคมี ผู้ย้อมส่วนใหญ่จะใช้สีทั้ง 2 ชนิด ซึ่งได้ประโยชน์และกระบวนการย้อมที่แตกต่างกัน ข้อดีสีธรรมชาติ มีสีสรรสวยงาม สีอ่อน สบายตา เวลาย้อมสีจะติดด้ายฝ้ายง่าย ปลอดภัยไม่มีสารพิษ เป็นที่นิยมของผู้ใช้เป็นที่ต้องการของตลาด ข้อสำคัญคือมีต้นทุนต่ำ ข้อเสีย สีธรรมชาติ สีไม่คงทนตกง่ายทำให้ผ้าซีดเร็ว ปัจจุบันพืชซึ่งเป็นวัสดุที่ใช้ย้อมด้ายหายากขึ้น ข้อดีสีเคมี สีสดใสฉูดฉาด มองแล้วโดดเด่น การใช้สีเคมีจะได้สีที่ต้องการมากกว่าสีธรรมชาติ กระบวนการย้อมไม่ยุ่งยาก ซื้อได้ง่ายมีขายตามท้องตลาดทั่วไป ข้อเสียของสีเคมี คือไม่ปลอดภัยจะเป็นอันตรายต่อสุขภาพร่างกาย มีต้นทุนการผลิตสูงกว่าสีธรรมชาติ
2) ความรู้ความเข้าใจ ผู้ย้อมด้ายฝ้ายส่วนใหญ่ไม่ทราบว่าสีเคมีทีใช้ย้อมฝ้ายอาจเป็นอันตรายต่อสุขภาพ มีส่วนประกอบของสารเคมีในกลุ่มอะโซต้องห้าม ทำให้ไม่สามารถนำเข้าไปขายยังประเทศกลุ่มสหภาพยุโรป สหรัฐอเมริกา ญี่ปุ่น มีเป็นส่วนน้อยที่ตอบว่าทราบ มาจากนักวิชาการที่เคยมาหาข้อมูล ปัญหาเกี่ยวกับสิ่งแวดล้อม ส่วนใหญ่ไม่ทราบว่าน้ำทิ้งจากการย้อมด้ายด้วยสีเคมีจะมีผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม ไม่ทราบปัญหาที่แท้จริง กระบวนการผลิตที่ไม่ถูกต้อง เกือบทั้งหมดตอบว่าไม่ทราบมาก่อนเลยว่าเป็นเหตุผลที่จะทำให้ถูกใช้เป็นข้ออ้างในการกีดกันการค้า

In this study, we examine community lived experiences, preferences, and narratives about tree equity in Portland, Oregon. Using an environmental justice framework combined with participatory mapping, focus group discussions, and semi-structured interviews, we examine values, perceptions of canopy cover, and everyday relationships with trees across different racial and socio-economic backgrounds. Results show that participants from neighborhoods with histories of investment and privilege had different lived experiences compared to those with histories of disinvestment and marginalization. In congruence with implicit leadership theory, research shows that individuals value agentic traits in potential leaders more than communal traits. However, traits identified as “preferable” or “more valuable” in leader candidates are not always aligned with traits that are typical of an effective or competent leader. If our industry wants to put effective leadership into practice, we must also know how effective leaders are chosen and encouraged further. Here I have explored one small aspect of this research by looking at gender differences in leader potential and leader effectiveness.
