This study aims to examine the reasons why certain individuals engage in “dark participation”, antisocial social participation online involving behavior such as trolling, hate speech, harassment, and spreading disinformation. Online toxicity has increasingly destabilized our ability to engage in socially important discourse online, and trolling has such a strong effect on our environment to the point where the 2016 presidential election was, in part, influenced by online trolls. Attempting to conceptualize wellbeing is difficult, and the current research literature does not offer a standard definition that encapsulates the complexity of this construct, nor has there been a thorough consideration the impact of culture and societal standards of behavior on wellbeing. Additionally, the emergence of a new developmental period between adolescence and true adulthood (emerging adulthood) offers an additional layer of nuance, as many of the traditional scales currently used to measure wellbeing are inappropriate for emerging adults. Strategic Advocacy: Doula Care, Liminality, And Reproductive Justice, Angela Castañeda, Julie Johnson Searcy, Ellen Block

In this paper, we explain the larger political economy in which doulas work, highlighting the nature of their liminality, and their role in the reproductive justice movement. We then draw on over 60 qualitative interviews with doulas to articulate experiences and perspectives, demonstrating the ways they use strategic advocacy to meet the needs of birthing people. Finally, we consider how doula policies and practices could support doulas without compromising their focus on the birthing person. We argue that doulas embody care ethics that are critical for reproductive justice as their work is about humanizing the birthing person, often in the …

This purpose of this phenomenological study is to broadly explore the role of the Black Church in providing mental health support by facilitating linkages to professional mental health services by exploring pastoral perceptions of mental health through examination of their experiences with church members. Ten African American pastors of Black Churches in North and South Carolina completed semi-structured, qualitative interviews describing their backgrounds, attitudes, and their mental health experiences within the church. The purpose of this quantitative, causal-comparative study was to determine whether school context quality (SCQ) affects students' learning climate and learning strategies in high schools. From the target population of two groups, 702 students of high-performing schools (HPS) and 2,300 students from low-performing schools (LPS), 102 participants were recruited with random sampling. The instrument LCQ (Learning Climate Questionnaire) version-5 was utilized to assess the learning climate and the MSLQ (Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire) part B was used to assess the learning strategies. This quantitative pretest-post-test evaluated the impact of a virtual guided meditation on anxiety and academic resilience levels in undergraduate, Generation Z students. A sample of 14 undergraduate males and females participated in the study. Participants used The Mindfulness App at a location and time of their choice; they meditated five minutes daily for five weeks. Participants were recruited through an accredited university and social media. Participants qualified if they were between the ages of 18-26 and were currently enrolled in undergraduate studies. This study employed a grounded qualitative approach to explore the intricate relationship between moral panic and public administration policy in the subfield of law enforcement administration. Using a nationwide survey derived from the U.S. Major Cities Chief Association census, postsurvey interviews and employing document analysis and crime statistics, the research investigated the impact of moral panic-induced policy decisions on law enforcement agencies from 2018 to 2022. Social media emerged as a significant catalyst, fueling public outrage and facilitating political rent-seeking. A growing body of research indicates various mental and behavioral health problems are associated with combat-related experiences and witnessing the atrocities of war. Emerging research demonstrates the importance of identifying resilient traits in individuals that lessen the degree to which they develop symptoms associated with moral injury. The current study examined the relationship between moral injury, shame, and guilt outcomes. It also examined the potential moderating role self-compassion may have in these relationships. The purpose of this mixed-method study was to investigate levels of PTSD, PTG, QOL, their relationships, and unmet mental health needs of triple-negative breast cancer survivors diagnosed between stages 2b-4 and 2-5 years post-treatment. Participants were recruited through two cancer organizations, breast health navigators, TNBC support groups, and online breast cancer support groups. Sixty-one participants completed the PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C), Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory, and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast (FACT-B).
