A099: Bidirectional Association Between Grip Strength And Health-Related Quality Of Life: A Cross-Lagged Panel Model, Yuke Yang, Yan Gao, Liangyu Zhao, Yining Hu, Lu Chen, Jingquan Hu, Wenze Sui
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Background: Grip strength (GS) and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) are both pivotal determinants of physical and mental well-being in middle-aged and older adults. While the relationship between GS and HRQoL has been established, further exploration is needed to understand the direction and underlying mechanisms of this relationship. This study aimed to longitudinally examine the bidirectional association between GS and HRQoL, and whether this association differs based on smoking behaviors.
Methods: Based on two waves of data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS), including 6,314 individuals 45 years and older, male 3,021 (47.85%) and female 3,293 (52.15%), …

International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Background/Purpose: Learning motor skills has always been a central issue in the field of physical education. Optimization theory suggests that providing autonomy support can enhance motor learning effects. However, there is no consistent conclusion regarding whether different types of autonomy support have the same effect. This study aimed to investigate the influence of enhanced autonomy support on dart throwing skill acquisition and self-efficacy, as well as examine potential differences between task-relevant and task-irrelevant autonomy support.
Method: A two-factor mixed experimental design was employed, the within-group independent variable was the testing time (pre-test and post-test), the between-group independent variable was the …

A114: Effect Of Four-Way Boxing Exercise On Cognitive Flexibility Of High School Students With Depression Tendency, Tongtong Hao
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: In recent years, depressive symptoms are more prominent than other psychological problems among Chinese high school students. Cognitive flexibility impairment is one of the important cognitive impairments in depression. The four-way boxing practice has the characteristics of rich content of action and various forms of practice.
Methods: This study used the method of literature, mathematical statistics, questionnaire and experiment, and four-way boxing practice as the intervention.
Results: The total score of the cognitive flexibility scale was negatively correlated with the scores of the self-rating depression scale (all P’s < 0.05). The cognitive flexibility of high depression prone high school students was significantly lower than that of low depression prone high school students. The results showed that: (1) In the self-rating depression scale, the total score of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the pre-test (P < 0.05), but there was no significant change in the control group; (2) In the cognitive flexibility scale, the total score and the controllable subscale scores of the experimental group were significantly higher after the test than before the test (P < 0.05), and the scores of the selective subscale after the test were significantly higher than before the test (P < 0.05), but there were no significant changes in the control group; (3) In Stroop color word test, the post-test response of the experimental group was significantly lower than that of the pre-test (P < 0.05), while the control group had no significant change (P > 0.05); In the Wisconsin card test, the reaction time of the …

A143: Integrating Stakeholder Theory And Swot Analysis To Examine Covid-19 Outbreak Impact On Fitness Programs, Xinxin Li, Ran Ran
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Background/Purpose: The fitness industry has been an important segment in the sports-related global market (SFIA, 2020). The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupations Projection (2016-2026) indicated there would be an 18.70% annual occupational employment percentage increase in the need for athletic trainers (CareerOneStop, 2019). The U.S. 71394 Gym, Health & Fitness Clubs Report revealed a 1%–6% revenue increase each year since 2012. This projection indicated that the fitness market uptrend would continue in the next decade. However, the COVID-19 outbreak had a significant impact on the fitness market, and it was projected to have a 10% revenue decline in 2020 …

A152: Effect Of Physical Activity Intervention In Kindergarten Mobile Area On Children's Lower Limb Motor Ability, Xinqi Ji, Shaofeng Shi, Dongmei Luo, Sha Qu, Xing Zhao
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Background/Purpose: Displacement skills are a very important basic motor skill in early motor development of young children, and the motor quality related to lower limbs is also closely related. Based on the design idea of regional physical activities, this study designed the physical game courses for the outdoor mobile area of kindergartens, to provide reference for improving children's lower limb motor ability.
Method: Kindergarten children were selected as study participants, including 33 children in the experimental group and 35 children in the control group. The experimental group conducted an 8-week regional sports game course, 3 times a week for 30 …

A148: Motor Cortices Activation And Gait Performance Of Older Adults During Turning Under Motor-Cognition Dual Task, Yuqi Dong, Yunzhi Wu, Cui Zhang
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Purpose: The degeneration of neural, skeletal, and muscular systems increases the difficulty of straight walking in older adults. This challenge is further amplified when cognitive dual tasks are added. Turning is a common movement in daily life, with a higher risk of falls compared to straight walking, yet it has been under-researched. This study aimed to explore the effects of motor-cognitive dual tasks on the activation of motor-related cortices and gait performance during turning in older adults, and the correlation between brain activation and gait performance.
Methods: Twenty older participants (68.8±3.3 years) were included. Participants performed two tasks at a …

A154: Myoaav 2a-Mediated Neurturin Improves The Pathological And Motor Function Of Mdx Mice, Yuzhen Mu, Yafeng Song
International Journal of Physical Activity and Health
Background/Purpose: Neurturin is a muscle secretory factor mediated by PGC-1α1. Studies have shown that Neurturin has the function of coordinating the integrity of muscle fibers and their motor neurons and improving motor ability. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a neuromuscular disease in which people gradually lose their mobility. Therefore, the aim of this study was to explore the pathological improvement of mdx mice treated with Neurturin.
Methods: (1) MyoAAV 2A-Neurturin viral tool was prepared by HEK293T three-plasmid system. (2) Three male and three female SPF newborn C57BL/10ScSn mice and six male and six female C57BL/10scsn-Dmdmdx/J mice were used in …
