In 2002, the Comisión Provincial por la Memoria (the Provincial Commission for Memory - CPM) of Argentina’s province of Buenos Aires (PBA) established Jóvenes y Memoria: Recordamos para el Futuro (Youth and Memory: We Remember for the Future – JyM), an elective program for secondary school students. JyM empowers students to create and communicate narratives about the history and current state of human rights based on investigations using primary sources. The goals of CPM include fostering historical memory and preventing the return of authoritarianism. At Montclair State University, the online and outreach librarian and the assistant director of the Center for Writing Excellence paired up to create a supplemental program to support graduate students seeking to publish journal articles. A graduate assistant joined the team and created content based on Wendy Laura Belcher’s book Writing Your Journal Article in Twelve Weeks. We will discuss how we collaborated to establish this writing group and what we learned from the experience. A journal article writing group is a great addition to any graduate program, and we hope our story will inspire others.

Abstract: The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to interview school administrators in the Los Angeles area who utilized social-emotional learning programs in their individual schools. Since the worldwide pandemic, schools have emphasized the importance of social-emotional learning. This research was conducted in an effort to provide school administrators with additional strategies to support the importance of social-emotional learning. In-depth interviews were conducted to collect leadership practices. The data was collected during the Spring 2024 and Summer 2024 school calendar year. Gatekeeper, Keep Thyself: How Impairment Impacts The Integration Of Counselor Wellness Competencies, Curtis Lee Taylor

This quantitative study examined counselor educators’ beliefs regarding the importance of Counselor Wellness Competencies (CWCs) and how effectively they teach them to their counselors-in-training (CIT). This study focused on significant relationships between the importance and effective teaching, self-care, and burnout. Counselor educators who place higher importance on the CWCs reported having higher self-efficacy in teaching them. The findings suggest that counselor educators with more self-care behaviors experienced less burnout and were better able to show congruence between the importance and effective teaching of the CWCs. The conclusion of this report explores limitations and directions for future research.

The experience of stress leading to burnout is at an all-time high in the field of behavior analysis. Increasing job demands for board-certified behavior analysts (BCBA) put newly minted BCBAs at a higher risk of burnout. The problem is that BCBAs only receive technical and clinical training to become certified. Yet, their emotional intelligence (EI), which is associated with stress and burnout, had never been examined. We study mechanism design when agents hold private information about both their preferences and a common payoff-relevant state. We show that standard message-driven mechanisms cannot implement socially efficient allocations when agents have multidimensional types, even under favorable conditions. To overcome this limitation, we propose data-driven mechanisms that leverage additional post-allocation information, modeled as an estimator of the pay-off relevant state. Our data-driven mechanisms extend the classic Vickrey-Clarke-Groves class. We show that they achieve exact implementation in posterior equilibrium when the state is either fully revealed or the utility is linear in an unbiased estimator. We also show that they achieve …

This qualitative inquiry utilized semi-structured interviews with eight expert forensic evaluators to explore their lived experiences engaging in psychosexual evaluations of sex offenders with a suspected diagnosis of autism. The purpose of this study was to identify current best practices, principles, and challenges faced by forensic evaluators when assessing sex offenders with a suspected diagnosis of autism. The results provide a variety of autism-specific screening tools and assessments used by forensic evaluators in their psychosexual evaluation process. This study sought to explore the lived experiences of licensed counselors who experienced personal suicide loss and the impact of their loss on their professional lives. Of particular interest was the impact of the loss on countertransference, professional direction and choices, and self-disclosure with clients and other professionals in the field (e.g., supervisors, professors, and colleagues). Sexual minority women (SMW), transgender, and/or gender-diverse (TGD) individuals experience interpersonal traumatic stressors (e.g., childhood abuse, sexual violence) at higher rates than their cisgender, heterosexual counterparts. This population also experiences ongoing stressors related to their minoritized sexual and gender identities (e.g., stigma, discrimination). Dissociation has been positively associated with trauma exposure-related factors (e.g., trauma type, chronicity, and severity) as well as identity-related stressors (e.g., stigma, discrimination) for sexual and gender minority people. Some research suggests that experiencing dissociation in response to traumatic stressors can result in individuals responding to non-traumatic chronic stressors with dissociation. Acceptability, or the perception that an intervention is appropriate, fair, and reasonable, is a critical construct to assess when implementing interventions (Kazdin, 1981). Despite original conceptualizations of acceptability as dynamic, or changing throughout intervention implementation (Foster & Mash, 1999; Schwartz & Baer, 1991), repeated acceptability assessments have been conducted up to only 9.26% of the time in intervention research (Silva et al., 2019). Studies that have previously conducted repeated assessments did not descriptively report or analyze differences in acceptability across sessions (e.g., DuBois et al., 2016; Raggi et al., 2009). Internal communications play a major role in creating diverse and inclusive workplace cultures. This study explores the lived experiences of Black and Latina women who work in internal communications, offering unique insights into how their identities intersect with workplace culture and strategic communication. Through a qualitative approach, six intersectional women, three Black and three Latina, were interviewed to examine how gender, racial and ethnic identities influence their work experiences and contributions. What explains the variation in states using state versus nonstate actors in responding to civil unrest? Prior research on state repression has predominantly focused on the direct use of force by state authorities, often neglecting the critical role of third parties, such as organized crime groups, in executing repression. This practice, known as "outsourcing repression", enables states to maintain control while preserving plausible deniability, particularly in contexts requiring substantial coercion. There are also rights that aren’t specifically written out but are nevertheless enjoyed by people nationwide. Rights that aren’t explicitly mentioned in the Constitution, but which are fundamental to are called the unenumerated rights. Unenumerated rights are just as important and can be derived from natural law, enumerated rights, the Ninth Amendment, precedents, judicial opinions, and substantive due process.

Children born preterm are at an elevated likelihood for autism (ELA) and intellectual disabilities (ID). Event-related Potentials (ERPs), such as the P1 and the Mismatch Negativity (MMN), can be used to measure underlying neurophysiology, which may aid in the identification of these important neurodevelopmental and cognitive outcomes. Specifically, enhanced P1 and MMN discrimination, measured via the difference between two alternating sounds, is associated with autism while reduced neurophysiological habituation is associated with a lower IQ.
