This article explores the intersection of non-profit founding with elements of servant-leadership. Drawing upon current research in social entrepreneurship and non-profit founding, the article reflects on these in light of the stories of two selfless individuals, Varian Fry and Enrique Morones, whose lives of servanthood spawned the founding of two influential organizations: the Emergency Rescue Committee (ERC) and the Border Angels. While sharing the stories of these organizations, and of their founding, this article highlights issues of immigration offering a healing perspective through five themes of servant-leadership articulated by Robert K. Greenleaf revealed in the lives of these non-profit founders. …

There are studies that reference the psychological and spiritual harm that the church causes when queer individuals are not embraced. Nevertheless, a secondary goal of this article is share how the church, through servant-leadership principles can explore forgiveness seeking and an affirmative theological position of inclusion whereby queer congregants are cared for and supported.

This article utilizes servant-leadership theory to engage with the leadership predicament that theologian Parker Palmer calls “the tragic gap”—the disparity between a hopeful vision for good and the reality of humanity’s propensity for violence. Utilizing two of servant-leadership theory’s ten characteristics, this article explores how stewardship and healing might serve the servant-leader who wishes to bridge the tragic gap. Through a survey of interdisciplinary literature, this article concludes that essential actions of stewardship and healing include: honoring human dignity, care-giving, love, responsibility, and forgiveness.

In this paper, we discuss a series of constructions across various English dialects involving the word many, drawing examples from the Dictionary of American Regional English (DARE) and web searches. The constructions include both standard and colloquial forms, including formally singular and plural constructions, as well as those employing a lot of and a great many. We connect these constructions to existing linguistic analyses, particularly those proposed by Kayne (2002, 2006, 2007a,b, 2017).

Little research has been published on this construction, which is used predominantly by Southern American English speakers. My project aims to fill this gap in the literature by describing the distribution of one and examining various hypotheses for its syntactic derivation using data from Montgomery (2004) and the Yale Grammatical Diversity Project. Microplastics (MPs) and other anthropogenic particles (APs) are pervasive environmental contaminants found throughout marine and aquatic environments. We quantified APs in the edible tissue of black rockfish, lingcod, Chinook salmon, Pacific herring, Pacific lamprey, and pink shrimp, comparing AP burdens across trophic levels and between vessel-retrieved and retail-purchased individuals. Edible tissue was digested and analyzed under a microscope, and a subset of suspected APs was identified using spectroscopy (μFTIR). Anthropogenic particles were found in 180 of 182 individuals. Finfish contained 0.02–1.08 AP/g of muscle tissue. In pink shrimp (Pandalus jordani), the average AP/g was 10.68 for vessel-retrieved and …
