Aim/Purpose

Despite increasing access to technology, persistent disparities in digital competence and self-efficacy remain among marginalized pre-service teachers, often exacerbated by systemic inequities and the digital divide. This research explores the gap in knowledge of the lived experiences of marginalized pre-service teachers’ (PST) prior access to technology and their current perceptions about educational technology integration.

Canadian communities are facing a crisis of inequity, and library service providers must do more to respond to the causal conditions of anti-Black and other forms of systemic racism (Black & Mehra, 2023). Beginning in 2022, the first known Canadian MLIS course, Anti-Racism in Library and Information Science, was piloted at Western University. It aimed to allow students to engage with transformative and collaborative anti-racism frameworks relevant to the Canadian library sector and MLIS curriculum. The lack of progress in addressing climate change has led to increased interest in solar radiation modification (SRM)—a collection of large-scale interventions that cool the planet by managing the amount of solar radiation that reaches the earth. SRM complicates climate change governance because, in addition to advancing collective action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, governance needs to restrain unilateral SRM action while balancing diverging actor interests, ethical risks and scientific uncertainty. Grid-cell data are increasingly used in research due to the growing availability and accessibility of remote sensing products. However, grid-cell data often fails to represent the actual decision-making unit, leading to biased estimates in socio-economic analysis. To this end, this paper presents a comprehensive parcel-level dataset for Salt Lake County, Utah, spanning from 2008 to 2018. This dataset combines detailed spatial and temporal data on land ownership, land use, and preferential farmland tax assessments under the Greenbelt program. Mental blocks are a poorly understood but pervasive and challenging phenomenon in artistic gymnastics that are characterized by a disconnect between the mind and body and an interference with athletes’ ability to physically perform previously automatic skills. This study used interpretive phenomenological analysis to explore the lived experiences of female D-I collegiate gymnasts in the United States who have struggled with mental blocks, examining the characteristics, causes, and management strategies through semi-structured interviews. Parental communication plays a crucial role in a young person's development of financial knowledge and behaviors, such as budgeting, saving, investing, retirement preparation, consumer skills, and avoiding excessive debt. This research focuses on emerging young adults aged 18-25, who are a vulnerable group of spenders. Participants shared memorable messages they received about money and rated the messages for positive or negative affect. Then, they answered questions measuring their financial literacy, perceived financial wellbeing, attitude about the importance of money. This paper examines the impact of partisanship on public trust in the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by private and public institutions. This study utilizes data from the “Artificial Intelligence: American Attitudes and Trends” survey (Zhang & Dafoe, 2019). Survey-weighted OLS regression models are employed to examine the variations in trust levels across different private and public institutions. This study explores how immigration background influences public attitudes toward immigration policy. The study employs social identity theory and assimilation theory, which elucidate how group affiliation and generational proximity influence political attitudes. Drawing on these theories, the study hypothesizes that individuals with closer ancestor migration ties are more likely to show higher levels of support for favorable policies for immigrants compared to those who have more distant ancestor migration ties. This research paper examines the factors influencing individual preferences for vehicle emissions and inspection programs. Drawing on the Value-Belief-Norm theory and Rational Choice Theory, the study examines how environmental attitudes, concerns, and the cost of inspection programs shape an individual’s support. The study analyzed survey responses from 326 individuals at Illinois State University and found that individuals with greater environmental concern and belief in the effectiveness of emissions testing were more likely to support requiring annual vehicle emissions and inspection programs. Despite growing attention to discrimination faced by sexual and gender minority groups, perceived sexual and gender minority students face intolerance and prejudice within their schools. This study addresses the complex experiences of perceived and self-identified sexual and gender minority youth (SGMY) subjected to bias-based bullying and its effect on their school experience. This study investigated the impact of bias-based bullying on school-related outcomes, such as academic self-efficacy, absenteeism, school climate, and identity disclosure, for SGMY, while also examining Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs). Disabled graduate students often report experiences of ableist microaggressions in their training environment, as disability-affirming practices tend to be overlooked in higher education institutions (Kattari et al., 2019; Lund et al., 2020). Ableist microaggressions are verbal, nonverbal, and/or environmental messages that relay derogatory messages toward individuals with disabilities and normalize everyday forms of discrimination enacted toward them (Annamma et al., 2013; Kattari et al., 2019). The Moderating Effects Of Need-Supply And Demand-Ability Fit On The Relationship Of Vocational Interest Fit And Job Satisfaction, Munkhjin Bat-Ireedui

The current study examined the relationship between vocational interest fit and global job satisfaction and explored how demand-ability fit and need-supply fit moderated this association. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between vocational interest fit and job satisfaction. Furthermore, while demand-ability fit and need-supply fit were positively associated with job satisfaction, their moderating effects were non-significant. This study showcases the importance of different types of fit in relation to global job satisfaction. The discussion provides future research ideas, including longitudinal or time-lagged study design and development of fit scales via artificial intelligence.

Sykes and Matza’s Neutralization theory (1957) was originally developed to explain juvenile involvement in delinquency, with extensions of this theory being used to understand crime in other offending groups. Although neutralization theory has been widely applied to offenders, far less research has examined how neutralizations may be used by non-offending groups. This study applies Sykes and Matza’s framework to parents to explore whether neutralizations are being employed to justify risk taking or delinquent behavior among their adolescent children. The present research investigates whether using external reminders to support prospective memory (PM) reduces internal representation of future intentions during the retention interval. While reminders are known to improve PM performance, it remains unclear whether they actually decrease the memory trace associated with maintaining intentions. Across three experiments, we systematically manipulated reminder reliability (Exp 1-3) and task familiarity (Exp 2 & 3) to assess their effects on PM-related thoughts and PM target detection. In Experiment 1, we varied reminder reliability (0%, 50%, 100%) and found no differences in PM-related thoughts, suggesting that participants may have maintained intentions internally regardless of …

Mao Zedong led one of the most successful peasant rebellions in human history, changing the global stage of politics forever. Analysis of the 30 year war between Mao’s CCP and the Nationalist Party regime, led by Chiang Kai-shek, reveals the vital role of the Chinese peasant class as a force for revolution. Through ideological pedagogy, Mao formed a highly loyal army that in turn transformed him into a premier political figure of the 20th century, both hated and revered. His story informs the modern field of comparative politics as to how intrastate conflicts rely on sub-state actors for their success.
