This project employs a qualitative media analysis to compare two toxic leaders, Regina George from Mean Girls (2004) and President Snow from The Hunger Games series. Both characters exhibit manipulative leadership tactics to maintain control in different social contexts. Regina, the dominant queen bee of her high school, leads The Plastics through emotional manipulation and fear tactics. She employs a transactional leadership style, offering social rewards for compliance and punishing lack of agreement with exclusion. Her leadership is rooted in a need for validation, using her followers to reinforce her own status. In contrast, President Snow rules through violence and …

This project uses a qualitative media analysis to look at toxic leadership through a comparative study of two characters: Scar, villainous usurper from “The Lion King,” and Homelander, publicly revered leader of superheroes and private psychopath from “The Boys.” These characters, despite their distinct contexts, exhibit toxic leadership styles. Drawing upon Haslam et al.’s (2020) "The New Psychology of Leadership," this analysis examines the context of their rule, their manipulation of identity, and their impact on followers. Scar’s thirst for power by any means necessary demonstrates a leader who manipulates others for personal gain. Meanwhile, Homelander’s narcissism and greed for …

Mithila Art has helped illuminate various aspects of the relationship between gendered Maithil social roles and Maithil women’s narratives in connection with a feminist participatory action research project conducted primarily in 2016-2017 in and around the northern Bihari town of Madhubani. While participatory action research philosophically and methodologically attends to process as much as product, Mithila Art played a role in the process and product of making a documentary film and in our capacity to understand and communicate with varied audiences about shifting Maithil gender norms. Chagas disease, one of the 13 recognized Neglected Tropical Diseases, is traditionally transmitted by the Triatominae insect. However, in Chile, vector-borne transmission has been interrupted and vertical transmission (from mother to child) has emerged as the primary concern. This study explores the impacts of vertical transmission on the immigrant population in Arica, Chile, a city located at the borders of Bolivia and Perú, where approximately 10% of the population consists of immigrants. When faced with unfolding protests, autocrats frequently respond with anti-protest propaganda loaded with negative narratives about protesters. Although a substantial body of literature has suggested that anti-protest propaganda can effectively alter the way the public views protests, few researchers have examined the mechanism through which propaganda negatively affects public support for protests. In this article, the authors explain the role that anti-protest propaganda plays in weakening public support for protests. Using an innovative experiment involving mediation analysis, the authors administered a survey to 950 Vietnamese respondents. This study focuses on the mechanism through which industrial clusters enhance technological innovation among micro and small enterprises. Using the VanYang Micro-Enterprise Park in Zhejiang Province as a representative case, the research integrates perspectives from industrial cluster theory, innovation theory, and spatial economics to explore how clustered environments influence enterprise innovation performance through resource integration, knowledge spillovers, and organizational collaboration. Departing from traditional static comparative methods, this study adopts an event study approach to dynamically capture the impact trajectory and temporal structure of enterprise innovation performance, with "entry into the park" serving as the key event.

Low-SES college students often face contradictory demands and expectations as they navigate between their home and college environments. Grounded in prior evidence demonstrating the benefits of a paradox mindset—characterized by “both/and” thinking and a tendency to accept, value, and feel comfortable with tensions—in situations that involve contradictions, this research hypothesized that a paradox mindset promotes professional, relational, and well-being outcomes among low-SES college students. Importantly, SES-college identity integration, defined as perceived blendedness and harmony between one’s socioeconomic class identity and college student identity, was proposed as a key mediating mechanism underlying these benefits. As a critical component of economic activities, achieving zero-carbon goals in industrial parks is crucial for achieving the dual carbon objectives. This article focuses on analyzing the implementation pathways for zero-carbon parks, exploring how chemical parks can achieve zero-carbon emissions and their economic feasibility under existing policies and technologies. The effectiveness of Extension work is highly dependent on the preparedness and professional competencies of Extension practitioners. One area of training that is of importance to Extension practitioners is adult learning. According to Malcolm Knowles, andragogy is the art and science of adult learning. This study looked at the principles of adult learning necessary for effective Extension programming. Twenty Extension practitioners were trained in andragogical principles, and their perceptions of using andragogy to redesign Extension programming were examined. However, the literature on the wellness of collegiate-level student-athletes highlights a lack of diversity in gender and racial/ethnic representation, often overlooking Black student-athletes, who form the second largest group in college sports (Boyd et al., 2017; Elder et al., 2014; NCAA, 2012). Senèze has yielded two primate fossils, neither from the recent field work. A partial ulna can be identified as cf. Macaca sylvanus. A nearly complete female skull is the holotype of Dolichopithecus arvernensis Depéret, 1928, now included in Paradolichopithecus. Emended and differential diagnoses are provided for this genus and species for the first time, and the Senèze skull is described and briefly compared to those of other species of the genus. Dental and cranial measurements are provided, along with comparative data. The macaque and Paradolichopithecus are moderately to highly terrestrial, respectively, and they suggest a woodland to more open …

Background; Inclusion of persons with disabilities in financial products and services has been identified as an important step on the pathway to achieving the sustainable development goals. Evidence of how people with disabilities are included in financial products and services including strategies to improve their inclusion in low and middle-income countries is limited. We draw on qualitative data to to understand the experiences of providing and using financial products and services from the perspectives of persons with disabilities and representatives of different financial institutions in Nairobi and Migori counties of Kenya.

Methods ;Eighty-one persons with disabilities (49.4% < 35 years, 57% female) were purposively sampled to take part in 10 focus group discussions. Additionally, 26 in-depth interviews were conducted with financial institution representatives. Data were collected between July and September 2022 and analysed thematically.
