How are friendships formed, and how do we decide which people will become our friends? This study examined if friendship preferences differ based on personality traits, such as introversion, and the consequences that these preferences may have for the formation and maintenance of our social networks.

To test this idea, participants were asked to choose if their friends consisted of people who were involved in a singular/few aspects of their lives or people who were involved in many aspects of their lives. Prejudiced reactions to the growing number of transgender individuals in the United States have motivated the support and proposal of much legislation that targets and restricts these individuals. Indeed, in the first six months of 2024, already 619 such anti-transgender bills have been proposed in the U.S. (translegislation.com). Integrated threat theory offers a partial explanation for this prejudice, positing that prejudice toward a group is forecasted by a perception of that group as threatening. Though Multiracial people are the fastest growing racial group in the United States, their historic lack of representation has made the perception of Mixed-Race individuals inconsistent among the general public. Past research has drawn conflicting conclusions on how Multiracial people are categorized in terms of racial background and presumed social attributes. Many of these studies have also relied on computer-generated images that combine two Monoracial faces instead of photos of existing Mixed-Race individuals, which subsequent research has shown to be an imperfect substitute. Rodeo sports are often thought of as a relic of American culture that has endured the passage of time. Despite rodeo’s reputation as one of the most authentic forms of American sport, little is known about contemporary rodeo culture from a sociological perspective. And although gender in sport has received extensive scholarly attention in recent years, even less is known about the gendered experiences of modern rodeo athletes. Psychological assessment is based on the psychology of individual differences and dates back to the beginnings of scientific psychology. Clinical psychology began as a profession that provided psychological assessment, and through the 1950s assessment was what most clinical psychologists did most of the time. The value and propriety of psychological assessment was subsequently challenged on various grounds, and other activities gradually supplanted diagnostic testing as a preferred career role among clinical psychologists. Standard scoring methods for the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) require that all core subtests be used to compute index scores, yet it is possible to prorate certain indices using a reduced number of subtests. The purpose of this study is to explore differences in WAIS-IV Verbal Comprehension, Perceptual Reasoning, and Full Scale IQ Index scores as a result of using standard versus prorated scoring methods. Participants were 149 adults, ages 18 to 84 who were previously administered the WAIS-IV. Objective: To explore the psychometric properties of MMPI-adapted versions of the MMPI-2-RF’s RC and factor scales when applied to archival adolescent MMPI data. Method: We explored the internal consistency, temporal stability, and convergent and criterion validity of newly derived MMPI-adapted RC scales and MMPI-adapted higher-order factors (MMPI-ARC and MMPI-AF) using data from the first normative adolescent MMPI samples: 3,971 ninth graders assessed in Minneapolis public schools in 1947-1948 and 11,329 ninth graders assessed statewide in 1954. Results: Most MMPI-ARC and MMPI-AF scales showed good internal reliability, which did not vary uniformly with the proportion of available items. The MMPI-ARC scales …

Castles, Lands, And Locks: Exploring The Social Capital Of Heritage Sites, Loren Carter

This Honors thesis aims to analyze the social roles of heritage sites as modes of cultural communication and connection. Through combined ethnographic and archaeological research methods, I argue that while the museumification and industrialization of heritage does provide useful information for populations with little knowledge of cultural processes, the communities most closely related to the heritage sites lose both tangible and intangible cultural connections when their backyards turn to tourist destinations. Studies of heritage have long argued that heritage processes take place not just through tangible heritage artifacts but also through everyday intangible heritage activities (Smith 2006). Thirty years later, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) continues to confront the persistent challenges stemming from its post-conflict legacy following the 1992–1995 Bosnian war and genocide, particularly the systemic issues of corruption, weak governance, and deep ethnic divisions established by Western powers through the Dayton Peace Agreement. These factors not only hinder BiH's socio-economic development but also obstruct its aspirations for European Union (EU) integration and regional stability. This paper emphasizes the critical importance of addressing domestic justice and anti-corruption efforts as a means to achieve lasting peace and stability.
