Introduction: Rural areas have limited capacity to provide comprehensive mental health treatment and resources. This creates the need for interventions to ensure individuals with mental health concerns have access to resources to improve their mental health.

Purpose: The purpose of this mixed-methods evaluation was to assess the effectiveness and impact of Libera, a mental health program tailored for girls and women within the Appalachian region.

Methods: Quantitative surveys, including validated measures for depression, anxiety, and eating disorder symptoms, and life satisfaction, were collected pre- and post-Libera intervention for participants. Simultaneously, annual surveys were sent to Listeners in addition to qualitative …

Introduction: COVID-19 restrictions altered the structure of the school and workday for families with children and led to changes in active transportation. Continued restrictions impacted access to many community locations and led to changes in physical activity (PA) behavior.

Purpose: The objectives of the study were to describe the changes in the 1) amount of PA time per day, 2) frequency of PA, and 3) sitting time. Information about how PA changed for parents and children during the COVID-19 pandemic will have potential implications for education, public health, and recreation management.

In order to address the need for inclusivity and accessibility, gardens must adopt universal design. Individuals with special needs continuously face discrimination. While horticulture therapy has long been studied and catered to primarily neurotypical and able-bodied individuals, there is limited research on creating gardens specifically to include those with disabilities. My objects are meditations on intertwining themes of labor, rest, and interiority and their shadow sides—power, subjugation and the gaze. I couple materials that have millenia-long histories such as metals, glass, paper and clay with found objects and plat materials to illustrate narratives and exhume memories. Drawn from nature and technologies of land, plant stewardship and the domestic realm, I imagine my sculptures as life supporting vessels or magical enclosures.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of physical play, more specifically fighting and hitting, in professional hockey, exploring the impact on gameplay, team dynamics, and success. Despite the significant rule changes within the National Hockey League (NHL) which focused on minimizing fighting, the strategic use of fighting and hitting remains a highly debated aspect of the sport. The study applies a basic qualitative research approach, gathering data through interviews, questionnaires, and game observations with current and former NHL, AHL, ECHL, players, coaches, referees, and analysts. As a result, we can now produce raw statistics and compelling data-based stories regarding OER use and zero-cost/low-cost courses for campus stakeholders at all levels. In the United States, there are currently 574 federally recognized Tribal nations. Both employers and applicants face challenges in the hiring process. Tribes may face challenges finding qualified applicants with the necessary skills for specific roles. The report evaluates how Massachusetts municipalities are working toward the goals set in the MassDEP 2030 Solid Waste Master Plan, focusing on waste reduction, recycling initiatives, and especially food waste diversion. It identifies barriers, highlights successes, and makes policy recommendations, drawing on statewide and local examples. Primary methods include a literature review of articles covering the challenges municipalities face in waste reduction and some successful approaches. However, there is a literature gap regarding the impact of local staffing and implementation of waste reduction strategies. Hope After Grief And Loss: A Needs Assessment Of Peer-Led, Non-Denominational Bereavement Support Services At Laurel’S Grief Center, Julia A. Lange

This needs assessment examines the grief support services provided by Laurel’s Grief Center (LGC), a nonprofit organization in Buffalo, New York, and identifies opportunities to expand tailored services for grieving adults in Western New York. Using a convergent mixed-methods design, this study collected data through semi-structured interviews with LGC board members and surveys with clients and peer volunteers. Key findings highlight the importance of peer-led, non-denominational grief support and creative approaches, such as art therapy, while identifying barriers, such as stigma, limited awareness, and fragmented regional services.

The current study aimed to address gaps in the literature regarding pre-adolescent social media usage by examining whether gender, social media marketing, and social comparison predict U.S. pre-adolescent (ages 8-12) self-esteem and consumer identity. A paper survey was administered to participants (N=43) through on-site and flyer recruitment methods. The survey consisted of questions regarding pre-adolescent social media usage time and preferences, self-esteem, social comparison, and consumer identity. Research today insists that psychedelics assist greatly with self healing and self discovery. The “self-healing” in its extreme form is often labeled as “ego death”, which is defined as “surrendering to our self-subjected identity”. In our study, we analyzed 147 contemporary realistic fiction children’s and young adult books that feature characters with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). We compared these representations with current statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. For each book, we examined the character demographics, the main character, the author’s background, and representation prevalence. Our findings revealed a significant increase in the portrayal of characters with ASD over the past decade. There has also been a rise in the number of characters with ASD serving as the main protagonists in stories. We delved into the implications of gender, race, and …
