This study analyzes the voluntary approach to agriculture promotion programs through the lens of the Nebraska Livestock Friendly County (LFC) Program. In 2003, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) launched the LFC program to bolster the livestock sector in participating counties. The program is unique because of its voluntary nature and targeted agricultural promotion efforts. The NDA designates counties as “Livestock Friendly,” and assists them in streamlining approval processes for livestock feeding operations. Study was conducted through a qualitative interview process with seven Portlanders who have in some way been influenced by and/or who personally knew Le Guin. Using the transcripts from the interviews, I separated the information into themes and wrote out each section, synthesizing interviewee answers and using supplemental information to build my results. This research paper analyzes the language of young adult fantasy back cover copy and how the language is used within the Strong Female Character trope that is often found in fantasy fiction. The paper also looks at the influence this trope has on perpetuating gender stereotypes. This was done through the use of content analysis—word frequency, gendered word analysis, and thematic coding. Gendered word analysis provides qualitative evidence for the presence of gendered language in back cover descriptions, while word frequency and thematic coding provide additional context. Although research has shown that long-term guided meditation and mindfulness practices improve attention, memory, and processing speed, the research on the effects of short-term self-guided meditation on improving cognitive processing and memory is limited. This study examined whether a brief self-guided meditation practice improved cognitive processing speed and memory capacity. The participants engaged in a five-day program which consisted of taking an online mental speed test and memory recall test, then meditated for 15 minutes a day, for five days. 職場共融是香港企業社會責任(Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR)的重要一環。職場共融指出僱主需要尊重僱員之間的多樣性，肯定僱員對工作環境的不同貢獻，並提高員工的專業水準。多元的工作場所亦需要接納來自不同背景、膚色、種族、健康狀況、性傾向和性別認同的員工。綜觀香港商業各界，向來少有女性的高層代表。女同志和雙性戀女性更因為其性別和性傾向，在職場晉升中面臨「雙重隱形天花板」(double glass ceiling) 的阻礙。

透過嶺南大學創新及效益基金的資助，並與香港跨銀行同志論壇(The Hong Kong LGBT Interbank Forum)和Lesbians in Finance合作，鄧芝珊博士向正在香港金融和銀行業工作的女同志和雙性戀女性，進行了一項網絡問卷調查與兩次焦點小組訪談。研究旨在探討香港金融服務業當中，女同志和雙性戀女性所遇到的具體挑戰和障礙。

我們發現，只有37%的問卷調查受訪者曾經在職場「出櫃」，亦有23%向部分關係密切的同事「出櫃」。換言之，他們對於在職場「出櫃」一事仍然有重大顧慮。企業內的LGBT+員工亦面對「隱形天花板」的晉升問題，18%的調查受訪者同意、47%有點同意存在著這種限制。問及女同志和雙性戀女性是否比男同志更難在職場上「出櫃」時，32%受訪者同意、46%表示有點同意。27%的受訪者同意、39%表示有點同意「女同志和雙性戀女性難以獲得企業的晉升」。其他結果則顯示，女同志和雙性戀女性在企業環境中難被看見、缺乏指導機會、承受更大壓力和焦慮，且擔憂女同志和雙性戀女性的身份會令她們遭受質疑。相較於順性別的女性僱員，表現陽剛的員工亦明顯要面臨更嚴格的審查。故此，即使有關多元共融的討論，一直是改善香港企業工作環境的議程之一，但在提升女同志和雙性戀女性議題的意識方面，仍然存在不足之處。

This dissertation study investigated the efficacy of a multi-component intervention package delivered via an online learning tool on math fluency for prerequisite algebra skills for three 6^th-grade students. Students were referred by their math teacher due to concerns with academic performance. Target skills were individualized for each student based on screening assessments and measured continuously during both baseline and intervention. The multiple-probe across skills design demonstrated that students increased their math fluency on prerequisite skills. A staggered pattern of increases across skills for two participants indicated experimental control was achieved and student’s performance improved. The Quizlet^® intervention …

Current neuropsychological research demonstrates an association between the Apolipoprotein-E 4 allele (APOE 4) and poorer cognitive outcomes in older adults. However, there is a general lack of consensus regarding the effect the 4 allele has on executive functioning in cognitively intact older adults, and there is even less study of the effects the 4 allele has on specific executive function processes, such as response inhibition. While behavioral task performance may lack the sensitivity to detect subtle differences in cognitively intact, at-risk individuals, neural activity may better differentiate between individuals who are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Unfortunately, racial and ethnic minority students are at higher risk for depression symptoms and are less likely to seek out services to address these symptoms (Hope et al., 2018). Despite much research on leader authenticity, its antecedents remain poorly understood. We develop a self-regulatory model of leader authenticity. The model explains how both mindful self-regulated attention and political skill, as well as their interaction, are important for leaders to be authentic, and ultimately effective. Mindful self-regulated attention – a core dimension of mindfulness defined as sustained attention centered on the present moment – helps leaders stay connected to their core self amid the busyness of their (work) lives, allowing leaders to feel authentic. Using data from the Korea Labor Income Panel Study, we study the evolution of income risk and consumption insurance against transitory and permanent income shocks in South Korea over the last two decades. We find a decreasing trend in both income and consumption risks. Furthermore, we estimate that 47.6% of permanent income shocks and 9.8% of transitory income shocks pass through to consumption. We also provide evidence of substantial improvements in consumption insurance among the less educated and the older cohort nearing retirement. A common practice in dealing with the allocation of indivisible objects is to treat them as infinitely divisible and specify a fractional allocation, which is then implemented as a lottery on integer allocations that are feasible. The question we study is whether an arbitrary fractional allocation can be decomposed as a lottery on an arbitrary set of feasible integer allocations. The main result is a characterization of decomposable fractional allocations, that is obtained by transforming the decomposability problem into a maximum flow problem. We also provide a separate necessary condition for decomposability.
