This simple system is an integral and important part of this unit. It allows students to see, feel, and experience how kinetic energy can be transformed to another kind of energy. It is an effective learning tool in the unit because it is reasonably easy to make, has just a few simple and visible components, and reliably transforms enough energy to light an LED (light emitting diode). The LED provides a satisfying light output which is easy to observe.

This dissertation contributes to education equity scholarship produced by academics seeking to develop understandings of disability, Persons with Disabilities (PWD), and how both are situated amongst faculty in institutions of higher education. As such, this dissertation centers on a study of public US universities belonging to the Association of American Universities (AAU). This study looks for institutional level associations between respective rates by which college and university faculty with disabilities (FWD) are employed, certain aspects of disability policy drawn from each institution’s 2020 Affirmative Action Plans (AAP), and various other instances of empirical disability data (EDD).

The purpose of this case study was to explore eight Western teacher perceptions of Myanmar-based high school student college readiness to transition to a postsecondary educational setting in a Western country. The research question was answered using findings from individual teacher participant interviews. The purpose of this research was to examine face-to-face and online supervisee disclosure within the supervisory alliance. Just as client care pivoted to online platforms, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, so did clinical supervision, which was uncharted territory for many, including those familiar with online counseling. The methodology used was consensual qualitative research (CSR). Eight participants were recruited as a sample of convenience, and semistructured interviews were conducted via Zoom. While basic needs services are typically available on campuses, there is still a discrepancy between availability and accessibility. Ellensburg, Washington, has vulnerable food-insecure populations, including Central Washington University (CWU) students, whose access issues involve not only social, cultural, and political dimensions, but also practical considerations like transportation, distance to grocery stores, and affordability of food resources. This study was designed to explore the relationship between Internet Reciprocal Teaching (IRT) and young students’ online text evaluation skills. It built upon previous research that identified four main online reading comprehension skills: locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and communicating information that are similar yet more complex than offline reading comprehension skills. In the majority of previous research, participants were in fifth grade or above. This study aimed to observe the processes younger students go through while reading online text. This qualitative study focused on the impact of stereotype threat on the behavior of black males in the educational system. Black males currently involved in the juvenile justice system were interviewed about their lived experiences in the educational system. The literature surrounding stereotype threat focuses on academic achievement and performance. It provides spaces in the potential of stereotype threat impacting behavior.

Research demonstrates that a student’s mindset plays an important role in achievement and that mindsets are domain specific. Carol Dweck claimed that mathematics needs a mindset makeover and has shown that teachers can foster a growth mindset through their pedagogical choices. This paper shares how one university trains preservice teachers in mathematics pedagogies that are key to fostering a growth mindset. These practices include educating students on brain function, equitable access, metacognition strategies, feedback practices, the importance of productive struggle, and learning from mistakes.

Teacher preparation programs for STEM education should prepare teachers for all settings, including rural schools. Students across geographic locales show equal interest in STEM fields, but rural students often lack access to highly qualified STEM teachers. UNESCO (2014) notes that the disparity in education between rural and urban schools is a concern of many countries. In the United States, the National Center for Educational Statistics confirms that twenty percent of students are educated in rural schools and the STEM teachers in these schools are often the only STEM expert. The demographic composition of the United States (US) has transformed since the early 1990s with immigrant arrivals from Mexico and Central America. Education leaders frequently exit preparation programs without content focused on opportunities around working successfully with multilingual students. This qualitative case study explores the implementation of online learning modules focused on engaging multilingual students and their families that were embedded into advanced leadership preparation coursework. Utilizing data (e.g., classwork, fieldnotes, semi-structured interviews) collected from 10 participants, findings include recommendations for stronger preparation on multilingual learners and flexible learning experiences that encourage the application of knowledge in professional practice.

This phenomenological study investigated the lived experiences of Black women in student affairs as middle-management professionals. The study consisted of interviewing 10 participants who have served as middle management professionals for at least six-years. This study focused on understanding the experiences of the population under study and "what" and "how" they have experienced higher education, and how race, gender, and their positionality in this arena has impacted their overall experience. This article extends the metaphor at the heart of The Sum of Us - the decline of the public swimming pool in the U.S. - to discuss the political landscape of the US-Mexico border. The author argues that anti-immigrant whites residing on the border are so invested in white supremacy that they subscribe to an anti-immigrant politic that does not serve them. The article calls attention to society’s collective investment in white supremacy by highlighting the cost of this investment on migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

This essay discusses how experiencing racism over a lifetime may cause wear and tear on the body and increase risk for premature disease, disability, and death. This article investigates the way in which Cuban literature reflected on indigenous people during the early half of the nineteenth century and uses the symbol of the Amerindians to demonstrate a moral disjuncture between them and the colonizer. In this article, I call attention to the way Cuban independentists and Spanish nationalists used this figure to support their views and thus created a split in the Cuban creole imagination. This paper explores the concepts of "Border Culture" and "Borderlands" by Gloria Anzaldúa in Soy la Avon Lady and Other Stories, Homicide Survivors Picnic and Other Stories, by Lorraine López and the novel Mijito Doesn’t Live Here Anymore by Jaime Martínez. The paper argues that the Mexican American character in the southeast of the United States lives in the "Borderlands" and practices a "Border Culture" because they don't follow the traditional stereotypical role of the Mexican American character within the literary canon of both the dominant culture and Chicana/o literature.

There is limited research examining the efficacy of online delivery for experiential, field-based, interdisciplinary coursework in environmental education geared towards undergraduate students, and how connection to nature can be understood through the theory of emerging adulthood. This research employed a convergent mixed methods approach to explore the experiences of 11 undergraduate students enrolled in an online, introductory ecology course, and how their experience of connection to nature was influenced through the course, technology-mediated nature embedded within the course, and how their identities as emerging adults were impacted by their connection to nature. Sex is an integral part of human nature and identity (Sanabria & Murray, 2018), yet many clinical psychology programs may not offer adequate sexuality training. This study explored clients’ needs for support surrounding sexuality, clinical competence in human sexuality, and the availability of human sexuality training in doctoral psychology programs across the United States. In an effort to create a large sample size, I randomly chose 25 doctoral psychology programs to examine the nature of their sexuality trainings or sex education. การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อศึกษาระดับทักษะการนิเทศของผู้บริหารโรงเรียนที่ได้รับรางวัลโรงเรียนมาตรฐานสากลระดับมัธยมศึกษา 2) เพื่อศึกษาระดับการปฏิบัติงานด้านผลลัพธ์ของโรงเรียนที่ได้รับรางวัลโรงเรียนมาตรฐานสากลระดับมัธยมศึกษา 3) เพื่อศึกษาทักษะการนิเทศของผู้บริหารโรงเรียนที่ส่งผลต่อผลลัพธ์ของโรงเรียนมาตรฐานสากลระดับมัธยมศึกษา ประชากรที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ โรงเรียนที่ได้รับรางวัลคุณภาพแห่งสำนักงานคณะกรรมการการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน ระดับมัธยมศึกษา จำนวนทั้งสิ้น 280 โรงเรียน ผู้ให้ข้อมูล คือ ครูผู้ปฏิบัติหน้าที่หัวหน้างาน โรงเรียนละ 5 คน คือ งานหลักสูตร งานระดับชั้น งานบุคลากร งานนโยบายและแผน และงานบริหารการเงิน รวมผู้ให้ข้อมูลทั้งสิ้น จำนวน 810 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบสอบถาม แบบมาตราส่วนประมาณค่า 5 ระดับ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้ค่าความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน วิเคราะห์ค่าสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ และวิเคราะห์ถดถอยพหุคูณแบบปกติ ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1. ระดับทักษะการนิเทศของผู้บริหารในภาพรวมมีค่าเฉลี่ย 4.04 อยู่ในระดับมาก 2. ระดับการปฏิบัติงานด้านผลลัพธ์ของโรงเรียนมาตรฐานสากลมีค่าเฉลี่ย 4.89 อยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด 3. ทักษะการนิเทศของผู้บริหารที่ส่งผลต่อผลลัพธ์ของโรงเรียนมาตรฐานสากลระดับมัธยมศึกษา มี 2 ทักษะ คือ ทักษะด้านการบริหารงานบุคคล และทักษะด้านการประเมินผล ทักษะด้านการบริหารงานบุคคลส่งผลต่อผลลัพธ์ของโรงเรียนมาตรฐานสากลทั้งในภาพรวมและทุกด้าน และทักษะด้านการประเมินผลส่งผลต่อผลลัพธ์ของโรงเรียนมาตรฐานสากล 3 ซึ่งด้าน คือ ด้านหลักสูตรและกระบวนการ ด้านนักเรียนและผู้มีส่วนได้ส่วยเสีย และด้านบุคลากร

หนังสือและสื่อการเรียนรู้ที่ส่งเสริมความฉลาดในการรับมือกับปัญหาของผู้เรียนระดับ ป. 1 ในประเทศไทยมักอยู่ในรูปแบบที่หลากหลาย ซึ่งเป็นข้อมูลพหุรูปแบบที่มีความซับซ้อน โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสำรวจรูปแบบและลักษณะของหนังสือและสื่อการเรียนรู้ วิเคราะห์ประเภทของสื่อพหุรูปแบบ วิเคราะห์วาทกรรมในสื่อพหุรูปแบบ และพัฒนาฐานข้อมูลหนังสือและสื่อการเรียนรู้ ตัวอย่างวิจัย คือ หนังสือและสื่อการเรียนรู้ที่ผ่านเกณฑ์และได้รับการสุ่ม ครูผู้สอนและผู้ปกครองชั้น ป. 1 ที่อาสาสมัครเข้าทดลองใช้ฐานข้อมูลฯ ซึ่งดำเนินการวิจัยเพื่อศึกษารูปแบบและลักษณะของสื่อ โดยสุ่มจากหนังสือที่ผ่านเกณฑ์จำนวน 221 เล่ม และสื่อการเรียนรู้ออนไลน์ที่ผ่านเกณฑ์จำนวน 110 เรื่อง จากนั้นนำมาวิเคราะห์ประเภทของสื่อพหุรูปแบบและวิเคราะห์วาทกรรมพหุรูปแบบในสื่อ โดยประยุกต์ใช้แนวคิดของ O’Halloran, Tan & Wignell (2019) ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1. หนังสือและสื่อฯ อยู่ในรูปแบบที่หลากหลายผสมผสานกัน อันเป็นข้อมูลพหุรูปแบบ ที่มีการสอดแทรกความรู้และทักษะที่ผู้เขียน/ผู้แต่งต้องการส่งเสริมให้เกิดขึ้นกับผู้เรียนชั้น ป. 1 และมีเรื่องราวที่ใกล้เคียงกับประสบการณ์ของผู้อ่าน 2. ประเภทของสื่อพหุรูปแบบปรากฏในหนังสือและสื่อฯ สามารถจำแนกได้ 6 ประเภท คือ ข้อความ สัญลักษณ์ ภาพนิ่ง ภาพเคลื่อนไหว เสียงและการเคลื่อนไหว 3. จากการวิเคราะห์วาทกรรมพหุรูปแบบสะท้อนการผลิตหนังสือและสื่อฯ ที่สอดแทรกการส่งเสริมความฉลาดใน การรับมือกับปัญหาทั้งมิติของการควบคุม สาเหตุและความรับผิดชอบ การกระจายตัวของปัญหาและความอดทนต่อความยืดเยื้อของปัญหา โดยพบการส่งเสริมความฉลาดในการรับมือกับปัญหาในมิติของการควบคุมสูงที่สุด 4. ฐานข้อมูลหนังสือและสื่อการเรียนรู้ที่ส่งเสริมและพัฒนาความฉลาดในการรับมือกับปัญหาของผู้เรียนชั้น ป. 1 ที่พัฒนาขึ้นจากโปรแกรม AppSheet ได้รับความพึงพอใจในมาตรฐานด้านการใช้ประโยชน์ ความเหมาะสม ความถูกต้อง และความเป็นไปได้ในเชิงบวกทั้งหมดทั้งระดับเห็นด้วยอย่างยิ่งและเห็นด้วย
