This project presents the development of a sophisticated machine-learning model aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity by predicting the optimal fertilizer suited to specific crop requirements. Leveraging a diverse set of features including soil color, pH levels, rainfall, temperature, and crop type, our model offers tailored recommendations to farmers. Three powerful algorithms, Support Vector Machines (SVM), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), and XG-Boost, were implemented to facilitate the prediction process. Through comprehensive experimentation and evaluation, we assessed the performance of each algorithm in accurately predicting the best fertilizer for maximizing crop yield. As aircraft brakes are subjected to intense heat generation during landings and braking maneuvers, comprehending the temperature dynamics is essential for ensuring optimal performance, longevity, and, most importantly, the safety of flight operations. This paper dives into understanding heating and cooling in the brake systems of the Piper Aircraft PA28. In order to investigate the thermal behavior of aircraft brake components, this study evaluates a variety of general aviation braking scenarios, from light to heavy braking, including stop-and-go landings, full-stop taxi backs, and continuous braking while taxiing. An analytical model of the thermal conductivity of the porous yttrium-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) layer used in the thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) is presented. Such high-temperature resistant coatings are essential to protect the metallic components of gas turbine engines. The model calculates the conductivity based on the coating's porosity, pore size distribution, and pore morphology, including the individual pore cross-section area, aspect ratio, and orientation, which are extracted from the scanning electron microscopy images. Using gold nanoparticles of varied sizes, in this case 45 and 100 nanometers as a model nanomaterial system, we investigated how patients' blood physiology and chemistry (such as solute, protein, lipid levels) affect the biological response to bionanomaterials. Great South Metals (GSM) operates two steel slitter machines, which take large coils of flat rolled steel and cut them into smaller strips for use in customers’ applications. Setting up the working components of each machine, called the slitter head, is a precise and arduous task. This study examined a multilayer shielding strategy to protect employees from potentially harmful gamma radiation from highly radioactive sources such as 60Co. The current benchmark membrane for vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs), Nafion™, accounts for up to 40% of the cost of the battery and suffers from poor ion selectivity, leading to diminished battery performance. Consequently, alternative ionomer membranes, such as sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK), have recently garnered attention due to their lower cost and similar performance properties to Nafion. Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) is a procedure that aims to fix irreversible rotator cuff damage and degenerative glenohumeral joint diseases that hinder arm abduction. One major complication of RTSA is glenoid baseplate failure resulting from increased movement at the bone-baseplate interface. This study examined 36, 12 PCF composite Sawbones® scapulae. The specimens were split equally into 6 study groups, each having different implant configurations with varying baseplate lateralization and central screws or posts. Each specimen was subjected to cyclic shear loading and failure testing on an Instron to determine implant micromotion and load values.

Volumetric muscle loss (VML) refers to the substantial removal of tissue from skeletal muscle due to surgery or lesions. This condition disrupts the normal regenerative process of injured muscles, leading to significant loss of muscle function. This study examines the progression of VML injury, approximately 20% of the muscle mass being removed, in the tibialis anterior (TA) muscle of a mouse model over a 15-day post-injury period. The injured muscles exhibited discoloration indicative of reduced blood flow and experienced a decrease in muscle mass throughout the study duration. While perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) membranes have primarily been used in fuel cells due to their chemical, thermal, and mechanical stability, one PFSA, Nafion, boasts two unique characteristics: a broad glass transition (~55 °C to 130 °C) and a temperature-persistent electrostatic network. The combination of these two characteristics endows Nafion with exceptional shape memory properties – the ability of a material to morph and transform into pre-programmed shapes when exposed to an external stimulus – with enhanced permanent shape memorization, and a potentially near-infinite number of temporary shape memorization.
