In order to investigate the effect of the screw diameter of planted bars and ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) pouring method on the shear behavior of normal reinforced concrete (NRC) and UHPC, two groups of six push-out specimens were designed for shear behavior tests.The results show that after the failure of the concrete bonding force in the NRC-UHPC interface,the screw can maintain shear behavior so that the failure process of the specimen after the load reaches the peak shows ductile characteristics.For specimens with screw diameters of 12 mm and 16 mm,greater screw diameter indicates higher shear capacity of the specimens and …

The construction of the lower cross-beam structure of the main tower of Changtai Changjiang River Bridge has the characteristics of high construction height,large amount of concrete earth volume,and difficult control of down-warping deformation.In order to implement the pouring of the lower cross-beam of the main tower,floor-type steel pipe supports were set at the lower cross-beam,which were used to support the lower cross-beam formwork and bear the load during the concrete pouring.Through the finite element software analysis and calculation,it was found that the asymmetric deformation of the main structure of the lower cross-beam could be effectively controlled,and the overall force of …

Water pollution affects life sustainability; hence, several efforts have been exerted to overcome this problem. For ex-ample, nanofiber membrane technology is introduced to retain solutes while allowing only water molecules to pass through the system. Therefore, this study aimed to maximize the technology for water filtration using the electrospin-ning method by combining Styrofoam waste-based polymer with activated carbon from coconut shell waste (ACCS). The nanofiber diameter produced ranged from 590 nm to 610 nm with porous characteristics and without beads. The accurate prediction of thermogravimetric properties is critical for evaluating the suitability of natural materials like Dawakin Tofa clay for heat storage applications, but traditional linear models often fail to capture the complex, non-linear relationships inherent in such datasets. Plastic pollution, amounting to 12 million tons annually, necessitates sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics. Compostable thermoplastic starch (TPS) films show promise but lack strength and durability compared to traditional plastics. This study employs an adaptive design of experiments (DoE) approach to enhance TPS films by optimizing testing points. Bacteriophage, a type of virus that infects bacteria, was discovered 100 years ago, initially isolated with a plaque assay in the 1940s. A mycobacteriophage is a subtype of bacteriophage that specifically infects mycobacteria. Since the introduction of DNA technologies and efforts to identify a plethora of bacteriophages, over 10,000 bacteriophages have been identified with 1,500 sequenced. Site amplification in the Salt Lake Valley, Utah, has been a focus for both geologists and engineers due to its complex geology and seismic vulnerability. This study utilizes data from the 2020 Magna Earthquake to analyze site amplification from previously unavailable strong ground motion data. Ground motion data from the University of Utah Regional Seismic Network and the National Strong Motion Project, combined with extensive soil profiles, was analyzed using the program DEEPSOIL. Flood early warning systems are crucial for disaster risk reduction strategies, enabling communities to take timely action against threats. However, the effectiveness of these systems depends on accurate and timely hydrological data, particularly river discharge and water level measurements. A significant systems engineering challenge exists due to the lack of a comprehensive methodology that holistically addresses both the static and dynamic components of air-cooled heat exchangers. Traditional methodologies often overlook the dynamic components—such as fin blades, electrical motors, gearboxes and propellers (fans)—that are integral to the overall performance and reliability of the air-cooled heat exchangers. The focus on returns prevention in existing research overshadows management’s need to understand better the comprehensive mechanics linking the customer in-store return experience with their repurchase actions. Recognizing the need to bridge different stages of the returns management process, this research aims to explore the facilitators and barriers of in-store return activities.
