Eurasian Journal of Sport Science

Purpose: To justify the prediction by long-term training in women's judo. The article presents a functional analysis of the problem of the prospects for the development of female judoists of 17-18 years of age. The content of the presented work is fundamentally different from most generalizing works. The material of general scientific and special nature is presented, providing an individual approach to forecasting, working capacity and restoration of physical fitness of athletes. The content of the article is based on the research of female judoka in the period of the formation of sportsmanship.

Defining Intercultural Competence: How Four Pre-Service Teachers Developed A More Complex Understanding Of Icc, Elizabeth C. Barrow

This manuscript is one part of a larger exploratory collective case study of pre-service teachers who participated in a student teaching abroad program for one-month in Germany. The objective was to ascertain if and how pre-service teachers with no prior training in intercultural competence (ICC) developed both their understanding and conceptualization of ICC. Data was collected before, during, and after the experience via focus groups, individual interviews, journal entries, and program evaluations. Data was analyzed using a priori codes compiled from Bennett’s (2008) characteristics of affective, cognitive, and behavioral competencies of ICC. Instructional Design Capstones Collection

This paper describes an A2 level English class for 7th-grade students. The 10-week course focuses on vocabulary building, speaking, and reinforcing A1/A2 level grammar.

The needs analysis plan is described to provide context for the course and was used as a basis for the course design and instructional choices. The main body of the paper discusses instructional strategy and detailed course design. Key course aspects include scaffolding, relevance, and emphasis on active engagement and interaction. Class materials for Weeks 1-3 are worked out in detail and included in Appendices A and B.

Research studies in the past have linked math ability to success in economics courses. However, most of these studies have utilized a quantitative study design with limited studies testing the influence of math interventions on student’s academic ability in economics courses. This study will use a convergent mixed-methods research design to quantitatively measure the impact of a Math intervention on High School 11th and 12th grade Economics students and qualitatively observe student engagement and motivation during the intervention. Public health edicts necessitated by COVID-19 prompted a rapid pivot to remote online teaching and learning. Two major consequences followed: households became students' main learning space, and technology became the sole medium of instructional delivery. We use the ideas of "digital disconnect" and "digital divide" to examine, for students and faculty, their prior experience with, and proficiency in using, learning technology. We also explore, for students, how household lockdowns and digital capacity impacted learning. Our findings are drawn from 3806 students and 283 faculty instructors from nine higher education institutions across Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America. For instructors, we …

This study examined the potential of a residency/concurrent enrollment program to support rural students that are interested in the field of education. With 17 students in the program, the goals were to make a career in teaching more accessible to rural high school students through concurrent enrollment, to help future teachers solidify their career choice, and to establish partnerships with rural districts to continue expanding concurrent enrollment and ultimately fuel the teacher pipeline.
