Calling Rural Parents: Impact Of Information And Communication Technology On Parental Involvement, Rachel M.H. Robertson

Rural, Title I schools in West Alabama faced socioeconomic and geographic barriers that limited equitable access to education. A key factor affecting student achievement in these contexts was parental involvement, which research has shown was lower in rural areas. The purpose of this mixed-methods study was to examine the relationship between communication and parental involvement in these two schools. Guided by Epstein’s framework of overlapping spheres of influence, Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler’s parental involvement model, and Rogers and Wright’s (2008) research on the role of communication in cultivating effective school-to-home partnerships, the researcher investigated the relationship between information and communication technologies …

Exploring Rural Educator's Perceptions Of Educational Accountability Measures In Alabama, Steven Sims Ii

This qualitative study will examine rural stakeholders' perceptions of the educational accountability measures implemented by the state of Alabama, including Alabama’s adoption of mandatory retention laws, specifically the Alabama Numeracy and Literacy Act, accountability tests such as the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP), the ACT, and the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS), as well as how these initiatives impact the process of identifying and labeling schools as failing. This research explores stakeholders' perceptions of the efficacy of these policies. Alabama State Funding Models' Effect On Early College Enrollment For Rural Students, Mattie L. Hudson

Inequitable access to community college dual enrollment programs remains a national concern, particularly across geographic and socioeconomic contexts. Grounded in social capital theory and informed by Bourdieu’s theory of social reproduction, this quantitative, non-experimental study conceptualized state dual enrollment funding as a structural form of capital that may either reproduce or mitigate educational inequities. The study examined differences in dual enrollment participation by high school locale and poverty level and tested whether state funding predicted course intensity and postsecondary outcomes within the Alabama Community College System. The Journal of Law Teaching and Learning

This article contributes significantly to the discourse on legal education by arguing that embracing neurodiversity not only enhances the learning environment for all students but also cultivates a legal profession that is truly reflective of societal diversity. Ultimately, neurodiversity should be embraced as an asset. By adopting inclusive practices, legal education can nurture the promise of ND students and improve outcomes for all. This article seeks to inspire a new paradigm that celebrates neurocognitive diversity’s contributions to the legal profession.

Pursuit - The Journal of Undergraduate Research at The University of Tennessee

This study explored the feasibility and impact of faculty-led Spin classes on college students’ engagement, well-being, and connection with faculty. Offered twice weekly at 7 AM during Fall 2024, the classes aimed to promote physical activity, resilience, and faculty-student relationships. Twenty-six students attended at least one class, with a median attendance of 4.5 sessions. Post-semester surveys (88% response rate) assessed perceived exertion, interest, enjoyment, challenge, improvement, and instructor encouragement. Students reported high levels of engagement and positive challenge (RPE = 15.3; challenge = 6.4/7). Those attending 7 or more sessions reported significantly greater perceived improvement than those attending fewer sessions …

In recent years, numeracy has been recognized as a key educational priority across the curriculum in many international jurisdictions, including almost all Canadian provinces. In Alberta province, Canada, for example, the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) #3 explicitly states that all teachers are responsible for fostering literacy and numeracy skills, regardless of the specific subject areas they teach. It has been researched for decades, but the focus has often been on addressing math anxiety in students, while finding solutions to support elementary teachers experiencing math anxiety has been overlooked. Developing and optimizing platforms to study complex protein-protein interactions is important to maintain fidelity of the modeled activity. Yeast surface display has been used as a high-throughput platform to model substrate phosphorylation by tyrosine kinases, a key enzymatic process that is essential for most cell signaling pathways. However, existing characteristics of the yeast surface display platform limit the ease-of-use, reproducibility, and feasibility of screening enzymatic modification processes like tyrosine phosphorylation. This article examines the challenges of training social intervention professionals in an increasingly polarised society. Drawing on theoretical perspectives on political and affective polarisation, it explores how contemporary social divisions shape social work practice. The analysis includes findings from a five-year qualitative study on radicalisation prevention in France, highlighting tensions between security imperatives and the ethical foundations of social work. These tensions often generate mistrust and professional dilemmas for practitioners. The article argues that social work education must address polarisation directly. This report takes a comprehensive look at teacher retention and mobility in South Carolina’s public schools during a period of post-pandemic stabilization. Data show that by the 2024–25 academic year, teacher retention at the state, district, and school levels had largely returned to pre-pandemic numbers, reflecting renewed workforce stability across much of the state. At the same time, retention and mobility remain important workforce and policy considerations. Understanding where teachers move within the system—and where retention challenges persist—can help ensure instructional continuity, preserve institutional knowledge within schools, and support the long-term return on public investments in teacher preparation and professional …

The purpose of this quantitative quasi-experimental pretest-posttest study was to determine whether there is a significant difference in the growth in reading proficiency among third-grade struggling readers receiving different reading intervention programs: the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) or i-Ready curriculum-based interventions. The study is important because the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) has reported a concerning decline in literacy rates, particularly among students with dyslexia. The persistence of decline in reading proficiency stresses the urgent need for effective reading interventions. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to explore experiences of cognitive overload among engineers in manufacturing during digital training in industrial environments. Engineers in manufacturing manage substantial physical and cognitive demands in order to maintain safe and efficient industrial environments. In addition to these responsibilities, engineers are often expected to engage in digital training within active work settings, frequently without physical or cognitive separation from job-related tasks.
