(March 22, 2022) – Actor, content creator and author Josh Peck will make an appearance at East Tennessee State University’s Brooks Gymnasium (Memorial Hall) on Sunday, March 27, at 7 p.m. to host a question-and-answer session. The event comes as a result of organization efforts made by Buctainment and the Division of Student Life and Enrollment.

Teacher retention is a serious concern in our country and around the world. Current teacher shortages result from fewer students entering education programs while high numbers of teachers choose to leave the profession. Ultimately, the most significant impact of the lack of highly qualified teachers is on our students who do not have the opportunity to receive an equitable education.

Journal of Critical Scholarship on Higher Education and Student Affairs

This study explores levels of gender marginalization on college campuses in order to better understand who is at risk of being marginalized. In addition to conventional measures of sex, and gender, we explore scaled measures of how students see themselves, and how they think others see them, with respect to masculinity, femininity, and androgyny. In a survey distributed to undergraduate students, we explore experiences of gender microaggressions across the campus including experiences with pronouns, bathrooms, and interactions with staff and faculty. What we find is that marginalization based on gender is experienced by all students of all genders. Students who …

As postsecondary scholars continue to challenge deficit-based thinking that harms Students of Color and other minoritized populations, researchers have called for an increased understanding of how they mobilize anti-deficit thought in scholarship and practice. As one example of a theory that pushes against deficit perspectives, Yosso’s community cultural wealth (CCW) framework has risen in popularity. To better comprehend how scholars apply CCW in higher education literature, this content analysis investigated research that examined, broadened, and operationalized the CCW framework. In 2020, COVID-19 became a global pandemic that shifted everyday life, spatially, temporally, and affectively. As teachers who care(d) for students simultaneously navigating uncertain pandemic terrain, we found ourselves changing our practices to accommodate the varied complexities we all faced, and how those complex identities were already embedded in a socio-political landscape within a pandemic. In the midst of the dual/dueling pandemics COVID-19 and anti-Black racism, the instructors considered how best to have the course requirements for a qualitative research course meet students' personal and academic needs, while managing students' and their own exhaustion and fear. Through hybrid Zoom-based focus groups, instructors and students applied a "pedagogy of tenderness" that centered care and humanity as essential to classroom interactions and learning.

Background: Diseases of genetic origin are very often associated with oral disorders. One of them is Gardner syndrome (GS) a rare variant of familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP), whose main manifestation is colon cancer. Its most common oral cavity symptoms include osteomas, odontomas and impacted or supernumerary teeth. Material and methods: Medline (PubMed), Medline (Ebsco), Scopus and Google Scholar databases were searched oral manifestations of Gardner Syndrome.Results: Thirty-eight articles met inclusion criteria. The most frequently mentioned oral changes included osteomas, impacted teeth, supernumerary teeth and odontomas. Conclusion: This review provides evidence for associating FAP with oral disorders. The resolution of any dilemmas related to the implementation of the curriculum must take into account its objectives, generally speaking, developing the readiness of students to participate independently in health-motivated, sporting and aesthetically-motivated physical activity and to take health promoting measures. This article describes the assumptions of the original modular physical education programme for the first stage of education in the aspect of track and field. The physical education programme was designed for use in classes where the number of hours of compulsory physical education classes has been extended or for work with students with special physical abilities.

One of the most frequently damaged structures of knee is the ACL. Among risk factors for ACL injury, particular attention is paid to anatomic ones-structural, hormonal, genetic, biomechanical, neuromuscular and environmental disorders. Correctly performed diagnostics and rehabilitation after knee injury determine the effectiveness of treatment. The diagnostic methods includes: subject examination, physical examination, imaging diagnostics and arthrometry. The overarching goal after ACL injury is regain knee joint stability and return to full mobility thus surgical methods to restore passive joint stability are recommended. The aim of the study was to present the impact of whole body cryotherapy (WBCT) together with kinesiotherapy (KT) and with KT alone on functional efficiency in patients with OA. Background: The aim of this study was analyze relations between postural stability indices and selected psychological factors in athletes practicing artistic gymnastics. Material and method: The study included 20 athletes practicing artistic gymnastics. The research tool was posturograph CQ-Stab 2P. The data were analyzed based on Pearson’s linear correlation, or alternatively Spearman’s rank correlation. Background: The aim of the study was to show changes in aerobic and anaerobic capacity and body composition of the adolescent soccer players in a three-year training cycle. Material and Methods: 16 footballers aged 13 to 16 were examined. Measurements of aerobic fitness were performed with the Cooper and PWC170 tests, and anaerobic fitness with the Wingate test. Body composition measurements were made with an electronic scale.
