Implicit biases are unconscious, internally held beliefs shaped by cultural norms, societal structures, and personal experiences and are often related to societal constructs such as race, gender, age, body shape, and ability. Although evidence has demonstrated that fitness professionals possess both explicit and implicit weight biases, biases based on age, gender, skin color, and ability level have not been studied. The number of people playing pickleball has grown exponentially for several years in a row, and likewise, the absolute number of injuries due to pickleball have increased. Examining fatigue effects of playing may be a first step to determining injury prevention and game or tournament management strategies. Due to higher metabolic demands to the contracting muscles there are significant increases in cardiac output (CO) and peripheral vascular adjustments, thus resulting in an increased arterial blood pressure (BP) during exercise. In general women have higher heart rate (HR), lower stroke volume (SV) and CO compared to men even though they change in a similar fashion during exercise. In response to central hypovolemia, triggered by lower body negative pressure (LBNP), women appeared to have lower tolerance compared to men. In addition, women exhibit blunted pressor responses to exercise compared to men, while cardiac output is increased in a similar fashion. Despite extensive research of ACL reconstruction surgery (ACLR) and rehabilitation, mobility and functional issues often persist, leading to complications beyond the initial injury. This case study presents exercises employed to overcome negative consequences following ACLR. Participant (23yo, F, 163cm, 52kg) underwent ACLR in 2019 after a complete left ACL tear. After 7 months of PT following surgery, the participant was cleared to return to sport and continued consistent activity until 4 years post ACLR. Reduced exertion high intensity interval training (REHIT) is an extremely time-efficient version of sprint interval training requiring two to three 20 s “all-out” sprints within a 10 min exercise session. Findings from laboratories in the UK (Metcalfe et al. 2012) and Canada (Gillen et al. 2016) show significant increases in VO2max, glycemic control, and body composition in inactive adults completing 6 - 12 wk of cycling based REHIT. The United States (US) Army currently uses circumference measurements (with body mass index, BMI) to estimate body fat (BF) composition in soldiers. While this current system is easy to administer, it has been shown to have poor validity compared to other modern body composition assessment techniques, such as air displacement plethysmography (BodPod). Polymorphonuclear (PMN) Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), are associated with poor cancer prognosis, partly due to their immunosuppressive effects on anti-cancer immunity. Cancer cachexia, characterized by debilitating skeletal muscle wasting, further reduces patient survival. Previously, antibody-mediated (anti-Ly6G) depletion of PMN-MDSCs attenuated skeletal muscle loss in mouse model of cancer cachexia. The mechanism by which PMN-MDSCs contribute to cachexia is unclear. Given the role that PMN-MDSCs play in supporting cancer disease progression depends on inhibiting anti-cancer adaptive immunity, we tested if the beneficial effects of PMN-MDSCs depletion on cachexia depend on the presence of adaptive immune cells. Nitrate-rich beetroot juice may have more pronounced ergogenic effects on exercise that requires high-power and high-velocity muscle contraction; however, the efficacy of, and the optimal dosing for nitrate to enhance resistance exercise performance is unknown. The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) program prepares young individuals for their future as officers in the United States Air Force. This is a unique population because these cadets are college students who must maintain physical fitness through regular group exercise training. The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a training program that gives individuals the opportunity to become leaders in and outside of the classroom while they prepare for their careers as officers in the United States Air Force or Space Force. This is a unique group of college students training to become tactical operators, which involves participating in regular group physical training. Air Force ROTC cadets are college students simultaneously receiving training to serve as officers in the United States Air Force. An age-related decline in musculoskeletal health and physical function (PF) may contribute to frailty and lead to increased fall risk (FR). Traditional cardiac rehabilitation (CR) programs prioritize aerobic exercise conditioning with less emphasis on FR screening and prevention with related individualized PF training. PURPOSE: This study evaluated the prevalence of self-reported FR among patients enrolled in an early outpatient CR program.
