New equations for estimating body fat percentage are continually being developed for more accurate population-based results. PURPOSE: This study aimed to generate a novel two-compartment model equation for air displacement plethysmography to estimate body fat percentage (PBF) in a Hispanic population. METHODS: 43 adults, aged 18+, were assessed for total body composition using a four-compartment model (4C) with bone mineral content from a Lunar iDXA (GE Healthcare, Madison WI), total body water via the InBody 770 (InBody, Seoul, South Korea), and ADP from a BodPod GS-X (COSMED, Rome, Italy). Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems offer real-time glucose insights but are limited by temporal lags and variability compared to capillary blood glucose (CBG) and venous blood measurements. These limitations are particularly pronounced during fasting and oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT), where accurate glucose tracking is critical. Assessment of body composition and bone mineral density via dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is commonly used in sports medicine, orthopedic, wellness, and research settings, whereby individualized reports are generated that can be uploaded to individual patient charts or entered into datasets for the purpose of analyzing trends or differences between population groups or within groups over time as a result of monitoring or interventions (nutritional, pharmacologic, therapeutic, activity). Previously we found that walking on a non-motorized treadmill (NMT) elicited greater EMG activity from plantar flexor muscles compared to walking overground (OG) and on a motorized treadmill (MT) in adults younger than 25 years of age. Innate immune memory is the ability of innate immune cells, such as monocytes and macrophages, to develop “memory” that allows them to respond more efficiently when (re-)exposed to a second stimulus. Innate immune memory is driven by epigenetic changes, including histone methylation (H3K4me3) and acetylation (H3K27ac), which can activate gene transcription at inflammatory loci and drive enhanced activation to a second stimulus. Maximal accumulated oxygen deficit (MAOD) is the gold standard measure to evaluate anaerobic capacity. An alternative to MAOD is ‘MAOD_alt’, which is based on post-exercise measures. While MAOD requires multiple tests to evaluate anaerobic capacity, MAOD_alt requires a single exhaustive test. During severe intensity exercise, energy contribution from glycolysis leads to accumulation of intracellular H+ in the working muscles. This acidification results in decreased efficiency in the excitation-contraction coupling mechanism in the muscle cells, which decreases force production. Some studies have suggested that additional, progressive recruitment of glycolytic (type II) muscle fibers may be needed to maintain force production in constant power exercise which causes an increase in oxygen uptake over time (the VO2 slow component) after ~3 minutes. Evidence suggests compounds produced during vaping, as well as the vaporized substance itself, cause lung damage and oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can be quantified through analysis of F2-8-isoprostanes, reactive species that initiate lipid peroxidation of arachidonic acid. Advanced age remains the most important risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. Aging is also the major risk factor for hypertension and is associated with chronic inflammation and senescent cell accumulation. Cellular senescence, a state of irreversible cell cycle arrest, is characterized by cell cycle arrest and the secretion of inflammatory mediators known as the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP).
