Breakout Session #2I propose the idea of crushing your inner critic and embracing your inner mentor to live a more full and hopeful life. I will present in a workshop style with activities to open people's eyes to the critic. My goal is to help people understand how much our critics can control our lives and how sometimes we haven't met our mentor. I recently took a weekend class that presented this idea, and it provoked a lot of change in me and how I approach my life now.

Topics that will be covered include: people's rights when interacting with law enforcement (including immigration/border enforcement agencies), but we will also discuss people's rights when protesting and how to be civil advocates. The goal is to make sure students are aware of their voice and know how to use it to the greatest effect for the purpose of enacting change in their community at the local and federal level.

This disparity has caused delays in their educational development, affecting their understanding of national values and human rights, prompting the Village Innovation Program team from the University of Jambi to implement an educational program called Sekolah Pancasila. Objective: The purpose of our study was to explore the perceptions of internal authorities of public universities in The Gambia—with a focus on the University of The Gambia (UTG)—on service quality amid massification and thereby elicit their recommendations.

Method: This qualitative case study of service quality in public universities in the Gambia employed content analysis of data collected through semi-structured interviews to ascertain categories.

Results: The results showed an unfavorable view of the quality of all the factors observed—physical environment quality, core educational quality, and transformative quality. Despite efforts of the university administration to enhance the quality of education, the …

Research has indicated that many teachers and students lack the critical classroom experience where they play the roles of subjects controlling the educational process and developing knowledge together. With an emphasis on teaching instead of learning, classroom interactions are limited, and creativity and the cultivation of critical thinking skills and critical consciousness are restricted. This qualitative case study explored the instructional delivery methods in a Ghanaian university through the lens of teacher and student roles, a concept of Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy. We examined an outdoor, experiential learning approach within a science methods course for nontraditional adult learners who are often career changers or individuals transitioning into teaching later in life. Through immersive, nature-based experiences, the course connected adult learners to science via direct engagement with the natural world. We include reflections from two nontraditional learners who participated in a 6-week nature journaling process, showcasing how they embraced inquiry-based experiences in natural settings. These reflections reveal a supportive learning environment that values diverse learning styles and life experiences and encourages exploration. This interpretive phenomenological study explores faculty and academic advisors’ experiences in supporting students with mental health challenges. Guided by the Theory of Planned Behavior, which suggests that personal beliefs, prior experiences, and familiarity with symptoms influence behavior, the study examines participant narratives to identify key factors that shape their approaches to supporting students. Findings indicate that personal beliefs about mental health, prior experiences with individuals facing mental health challenges, and campus-based mental health training opportunities all significantly enhance mental health support mechanisms for students outside traditional counseling settings. Knowledge loss is a common challenge within IHEs—highly educated and skilled individuals leave—often taking the knowledge to do their job well with them. Turnover in IHEs is currently at an all-time high. There is a strong correlation between knowledge management practices and organizational performance. This paper (in progress) explores this phenomenon using collaborative institutional ethnography, enabling a critical analysis of how power dynamics and uncertainty shape both individual experiences and broader workplace social structures. This qualitative study explored the lived experiences of seven educators, program leaders, and other direct service providers who support the learning and development of human trafficking survivors in trauma-informed agencies in Kentucky. Using narrative inquiry methods (Clandinin & Connelly, 1990), this study identified the trauma-informed models and strategies currently employed in Kentucky agencies that serve trafficking survivors, participants’ experiences with successful strategies, and the barriers they have experienced. This study addressed research gaps between the effects of trauma on learning, trauma-informed educational models, the unique needs of trafficking survivors, and trauma-informed care for trafficking survivors in non-educational settings. The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine how geopolitical location, socio-economics of the household, parental education, role of the child, age of the child, and gender of the child predict the educational status of children in Nigeria. While there have been studies on Asian American (AA) parents' experiences with the U.S. special education (SPED) system, there have been no studies on Filipino American (FA) parents' experiences with the SPED system. As FAs are the third largest Asian group in the United States., there is a need for special education research to be conducted with this population. Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) interviews were conducted over Zoom with FA parents of children receiving SPED services.
