The Kaiser Family Foundation reports 121,800 uninsured persons in Nebraska in 2023, with 26% of residents below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. The Student Health Alliance Reaching Indigent Needy Groups (SHARING) clinic is a pro bono clinic run by student volunteers at UNMC. The SHARING Clinic provides primary health care to uninsured and underserved individuals in the Omaha, NE area. As of January 2025, occupational therapy students and faculty have joined medical, physician associate, pharmacy, laboratory, nursing, psychiatry, physical therapy, and medical nutrition as care partners for the community. Objective: Previous tracheostomy education programs have focused on many healthcare personnel populations including non-surgical residents and senior level medical students. However, the impact of tracheostomy educations programs on pre-clinical medical students has not been investigated. This pilot QI study aims to demonstrate that a concise hands-on tracheostomy education course can provide pre-clinical medical students adequate instruction and improve confidence in providing care for tracheostomy patients.

Objective: To teach and prepare obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) trainees for rare, vascular emergencies that can occur during robotic surgery before they encounter such a stressful intraoperative event. We sought to create, evaluate, and implement two inexpensive vascular bleeding models for robotic gynecologic surgery simulation.

Design: Using readily available materials such as plastic tubing, twisting balloons, foam, a suction container, and a small water pump, we created two vascular bleeding models. Introduction: Graduate Medical Education (GME) leadership can be a rewarding and valuable career path. Strong, skilled leadership is critical to the success of any training program. Despite this, there are few requirements and minimal guidance to prepare for GME leadership roles.

Aims: Identify pathways into Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (NPM) GME leadership roles and describe the needs of incoming program leaders.

Methods: The Organization of Neonatal-Perinatal Training Program Directors (ONTPD) distributed an annual anonymous survey to all NPM programs in September 2024. The team at McGoogan Health Sciences Library at the University of Nebraska Medical Center utilized Design Thinking methodology to improve instructional training of library faculty. The Education & Research Services team developed a 5-step peer consultation process to standardize how feedback on instruction is solicited and given. Introduction: Nursing educators face challenges in helping registered nurses prepare to be psychiatric nurse practitioners. Nursing educators must consider the variation of students’ skill sets, experience levels, and the shortage of preceptors. Simulations can help overcome limited clinical sites and standardize skill acquisition. High-fidelity simulations can be helpful but are labor-intensive and expensive. Low-fidelity simulations are adaptable to fit the learning needs of psychiatric nurse practitioner students but little research has evaluated these simulations.

Objective: This paper evaluates a series of low-fidelity interventions used to help students learn diagnostic criteria, treatment decisions, and documentation.

Introduction/Purpose: This study examines the preparedness, awareness, and empathy of senior dental hygiene students during an operating room simulation at UNMC’s iEXCEL. A lack of confidence and limited hands-on learning opportunities in the operating room rotation contribute to anxiety, restricting students’ ability to develop essential clinical competencies. To address this issue, a convergent mixed methods approach was used to evaluate the impact of simulation-based learning of a dental surgical case on students' readiness for real-world scenarios while fostering empathy for special needs patients requiring treatment under general anesthesia.

The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the effects of outdoor STEM education on creative problem-solving competencies, and 2) to study the best practices in outdoor STEM education to develop creative problem-solving competencies. The sample consisted of 9th-grade students. The research approach used for this study is action research. Data was gathered from various sources, including the teacher’s and students’ reflective journals, student tasks, and a creative problem-solving skills test, which demonstrated an internal consistency reliability of 0.82. The purposes of this quantitative research were to analyze the second order confirmatory factors of organizational engagement among government university instructor groups. The research participants employed 820 university instructors by using multistage random sampling from 16 universities in Thailand. The data collection tool was a questionnaire that consisted of 3 factors: 18 items on a 5-rating-scale, with discrimination ranging from 0.582-0.797, and a reliability of 0.986. The data was analyzed by using descriptive analysis and second-order confirmatory factor analysis (2nd CFA) by using the Mplus program. The purpose of this phenomenological qualitative study was to explore how we can best support our teachers in matching our ever-changing educational landscape, specifically our neurodivergent learners. When educating neurodivergent students (students with autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), we must understand how to teach these creative, sometimes misunderstood individuals and unleash their full potential. This study investigates how first-generation college (FGC) students utilize social capital to navigate the challenging transition from college to career, addressing a critical gap in the literature given the increasing emphasis on post-graduation employment and the unique obstacles these students face. FGC students often lack the same access to professional networks and career resources as their peers, highlighting the need for targeted support programs.
