Non-Adherence To Colchicine Treatment Is A Common Misevaluation In Familialmediterranean Fever, Emre Tekgöz, Seda Çolak, Fatma İlknur Çinar, Sedat Yilmaz, Muhammet Çinar

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is a hereditary autoinflammatory disease that requires lifelong colchicine treatment. Colchicine is the mainstay of the treatment, which decreases the frequency and the severity of recurrent FMF attacks and prevents the development of amyloidosis. This study aimed to investigate the rates of colchicine treatment adherence in patients with FMF and the factors related to treatment non-adherence. Materials and methods: This observational study was conducted with 179 patients with FMF between November 2018 and April 2019 in a tertiary rheumatology outpatient clinic. The sociodemographic and clinical data were recorded. Compliance Questionnaire on Rheumatology (CQR) was used …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) mainly encompass two entities called ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD), both of which are chronic, progressive and, inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. Various indicators and noninvasive markers have been sought and used in IBD patients to help assessing disease activity and treatment effectiveness although none of them are proven to yield definite results in full correlation with the clinical, endoscopic, and histopathological examinations. The aim of the current study was to investigate the relationship of serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), and symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) levels with disease type and …

Oxygen Reserve Index Guided Oxygen Titration In One Lung Ventilation With Low Freshgas Flow, Ayten Saraçoğlu, Esra Yamansavci Şi̇rzai̇, Bedretti̇n Yildizeli̇, Mustafa Yüksel, Zeynep Zuhal Aykaç

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Continuous oxygen reserve index (ORI) measurement with multiple wave pulse co-oximetry is a noninvasive measurement. The decrease in the ORI trend provides a prediction for the development of hypoxemia and provides information on hyperoxia. Our aim is to determine the effect of ORI-guided oxygen titration on hyperoxemia-mediated morbidity. Materials and methods: Consecutive 120 ASA I-III patients, 18-70 years of age, without severe obstruction or restriction, undergoing one lung ventilation (OLV), were included in the study. Patients were divided into 4 groups. Oxygen titration without ORI monitoring with low-flow anesthesia (1 L/min, Group 1, n = 25) and high-flow anesthesia …
