Friends Recommendation In Dynamic Social Networks Using Breadth-First Search Algorithm, Rigon Pira, Jeta Domi, Besnik Qehaja, Edmond Hajrizi
UBT International Conference
Social networks are constantly evolving, and recommending new con- nections is essential for improving user engagement. This paper proposes a friend recommendation system using the Breadth-First Search (BFS) algorithm on dy- namic graphs, offering a simple, scalable, and efficient solution. The network is modeled as an undirected graph, where users are vertices and friendships are edges. BFS explores the graph level by level, identifying potential friends through mutual connections while excluding existing friends. An adjacency list representation ensures memory efficiency and supports real-time updates. Can- didate friends are ranked by the number of shared mutual connections, with higher counts indicating …

Audio Signal Compression Using Wavelet Transform: A Matlab Implementation, Rigon Pira, Argjend Azizi, Gentrit Halimi, Zhilbert Tafa
UBT International Conference
In modern signal processing, the need to efficiently analyze and store non- stationary signals has become increasingly important, particularly for audio applications where both time and frequency localization are essential. Traditional Fourier-based methods provide global frequency information but fail to indicate when these frequencies occur, making them suboptimal for real-world, time-var- ying signals. This paper investigates the use of wavelet transforms, specifically the Daubechies wavelet for audio signal compression. A practical implementa- tion is developed in MATLAB, where the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is applied to decompose audio signals into approximation and detail coefficients. Thresholding techniques are employed to remove …

Review Of Soa Transition To Microservices And Beyond, Arbnesha Berisha Qerimaj, Merita Kasa Halili, Festim Halili
UBT International Conference
Oriented Architectures ( SOA ) emerged as a paradigm for distributed com-putting, e-business processing and enterprise integration. The benefits of SOA are multifaceted. It provides dynamism, as new in-stances of the same service can be launched to split the load on the system. Although microservices can be seen as an evolution of SOA, they are inherently different regarding sharing and reuse. SOA is built on the idea of fostering reuse: “a share as much as possible” architecture style, whereas microservice architectures seconds the idea of a “share as little as possible” architecture style: the goal became how to build systems …

Faculty Publications
Real-time hybrid simulation (RTHS) is an experimental testing methodology that divides a structural system into an analyticaland an experimental substructure. The analytical substructure is modeled numerically, and the experimental substructure ismodeled physically in the laboratory. The two substructures are kinematically linked together at their interface degrees of freedom, and the coupled equations of motion are solved in real-time to obtain the response of the complete system. A key challenge inapplying RTHS to large or complex structures is the limited availability of physical devices, which makes it difficult to representall required experimental components simultaneously. The present study addresses this challenge by introducing …

Objective The North China Plate serves as a pivotal region for deciphering the mechanisms underlying the links of volcanism and paleoenvironmental-climatic upheavals around the Permian-Triassic Boundary (PTB). The dramatic environmental perturbations during this period are closely linked to large-scale volcanic eruptions of the Siberian Traps Large Igneous Province (STLIP). These eruptions triggered global warming, extreme chemical weathering events, and mass extinctions, marking a significant turning point in the evolution of the Earth system. Methods This study investigated the Sunjiagou and Liujiagou formations in the WY-U-01H borehole in the Qinshui Basin, North China Plate. Using the chemical index of alteration (CIA), …
