Electrical and Computer Engineering
Speech instructors are important to help students speak accurately and clearly.
However, the most important part of learning is practice. Students can currently only practice while with their speech instructor.
This tool would allow students to practice while away from their instructor. This would help them learn more quickly and effectively.
Instructors would also be able to use this tool to monitor student progress.

The Walkmatic is a baby push toy with automated steering to keep babies from pushing the toy into walls or down the stairs. Parents who are anxious to watch their child learn how to walk will often buy push toys to help their child stand up while they learn to walk. Unfortunately, parents must constantly guide the push toy to prevent the baby from pushing it into obstacles. This can take a toll on parents’ backs and knees. With the Walkmatic, parents can relax while they watch their baby play with their fun new toy.
When the Walkmatic is first …

Parking Problems And Policies In Bangkok: Issues, Causes, And Implications, Chakaphan Chullabodhi
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Parking policies are integral to promoting sustainable urban mobility and enhancing a city's livability as they can shift people's movement toward more sustainable modes. However, Bangkok still lacks a concrete parking policy. The existing one consists primarily of regulations and standards that help reduce traffic congestion, albeit without well-defined policy objectives. This study examines the current problems of on-street and off-street parking policies, investigates the root causes of parking issues, and establishes a parking policy that supports the city's development of sustainable mobility. We used a modified conceptual framework comprising the Iceberg Model of analysis and the Political Economics Analysis …

An Sdn-Coordinated Multipath Transmission Steering Framework, Kiattikun Kawila
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Data transfer is a primary mechanism that can directly affect the overall performance of Big Data analytic systems. This is because most data are generated from several locations. It has been challenging to collect and transfer data among multiple storage regions. Using the traditional single-path transfer approaches is not efficient to serve several requirements of Big Data applications. In this dissertation, we propose an SDN-coordinated multipath transmission steering framework for Big Data transfer application. Multipath TCP protocol (MPTCP) and SDN architecture are mainly considered to design and develop our multipath transmission framework. To provide a practical routing solution, we propose …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Plastics are one of the derived products from petroleum material, which have been used in many applications worldwide, because of their various properties. However, plastic wastes create toxic environmental pollutions and problems because of their toxic constituents and non-biodegradability. Accordingly, nature materials have been proposed as a substitute for petroleum materials for bioplastic production. Natural rubber (NR) is a product from natural, which is well-known for its high elasticity. However, there are some drawbacks such as low tensile strength and low abrasion resistance. Moreover, its applications are also limited because of its poor resistance to oil and solvents. Therefore, the …

Techno-Economic Analysis Of Monoglyceride And Diglyceride Production From Waste Cooking Oil, Napat Olarachin
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Monoglycerides (MGs) and their derivatives are widely used and considered the most important group of emulsifiers. These emulsifiers can be produced from waste cooking oils (WCOs) via two-step transesterification-glycerolysis or hydrolysis-glycerolysis processes. The transesterification-glycerolysis process has the advantages in terms of a high reaction rate and a high process yield. For hydrolysis, triglycerides are converted to free fatty acids (FFA) at higher reaction temperature, but water is used as a reactant. Therefore, the separation process is not complicated. This study simulated the techno-economic comparison of four different scenarios of MG and DG production using ASPEN Plus V11 simulation software. In …

Influences Of Biofriendly Amino Acids On Methane Hydrate Formation For Natural Gas Storage And Transportation Application, Chuvich Chaovarin
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Solidified natural gas (SNG) is an appealing option for storing natural gas in the form of clathrate hydrates. However, it has some limitations, particularly the slow rate of hydrate formation and the requirement for severe operating conditions. To overcome these constraints, one approach is to introduce promoters into the system to enhance the hydrate formation rate. Amino acids have been reported as kinetic promoters with the potential to improve methane hydrate formation. In this work, the effect of three different side-chain amino acids (L-methionine, L-leucine, and L-valine) on methane hydrate formation and dissociation was investigated in terms of kinetics and …

Electrochemical Synthesis Of Methoxide For Transesterification Of Palm Oil, Apiruedee Juntuma
Electrochemical Synthesis Of Methoxide For Transesterification Of Palm Oil, Apiruedee Juntuma
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Sodium methoxide (NaOCH3) is commonly used as an alkaline homogeneous catalyst in transesterification to produce fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) and glycerol as a by-product. However, this conventional process requires a few steps to remove the homogeneous catalyst from the products by neutralization and washing, creating waste salts to be treated with additional cost. This study investigates the electrochemical synthesis of methoxide. Amberlite IRA402 anion exchange resin is used to adsorb the generated methoxide and subsequently as a heterogeneous catalyst for transesterification to observe its catalytic activity. Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Nowadays, global warming is a significant environmental problem causing various impacts across the globe. Dry reforming of methane (DRM) is one of the reactions that can utilize CO2 effectively. However, the major problem of DRM process is the deactivation of catalysts caused by coke formation over the catalyst particle which mainly occurs from CH4 decomposition reaction. Coke formation leads to a decrease in catalytic performance by blocking the pores and active sites. In this study, the spatial catalyst deactivation caused by coke formation over a spherical alumina-supported nickel catalyst (Ni/Al2O3) particle in dry reforming of methane (DRM) was investigated using …
