Distribution Characteristics And Paleo-Climatic Significance Of Continental Climate-Sensitive Sediments In The Late Cretaceous In China, Bin Xu, Fang Xiang, Shuxia Li
Coal Geology & Exploration
The Cretaceous is a typical period for studying the greenhouse climate and the earth system interactions, and the world's most extensive terrestrial strata are mainly in East Asia, especially in China. Continental sediments can effectively reflect the paleo-climate change, but the previous studies of the Late Cretaceous paleo-climate, based on the combined characteristics of continental climate-sensitive sediments, were barely found in China. To obtain the Late Cretaceous paleo-climate characteristics of China, the distribution characteristics of different continental climate-sensitive sediment types in the early, middle and Late Cretaceous in China were studied in detail. According to the distribution and combination characteristics …

Blending Interference Noise Separation Method Of Simultaneous Source Seismic Data Based On Multi-T-X Domain Combination, Yu Dai, Huang Dezhi, Sun Yuan, Yang Wenping
Coal Geology & Exploration
With the increasing application of simultaneous source seismic data acquisition method in seismic oil and gas exploration, many scholars have studied the key technology of simultaneous source seismic data blending interference noise separation. So far, research on methods with higher fidelity is still needed. This article is based on the following assumptions: Normal Moveout Correction(NMO) in simultaneous source seismic data can enhance the linear distribution degree of reflection(especially in Common Middle Point(CMP) gather), and expand the distribution difference of reflection and blending interference noise; single domain separation of blending interference noise only aims at a certain distribution characteristic difference of …

Research On Three-Component Response Of Ground-Airborne Tem Considering Emission Current Waveform, Hou Yanwei, Guo Jianlei, Si Yinnyu, Jiang Tao
Coal Geology & Exploration
The ground-airborne TEM has received more and more attention in coal goaf exploration and other fields. In order to provide a theoretical basis for the processing and interpretation of ground-airborne transient electromagnetic data, it is necessary to study the influence of the transmitted current waveform parameter on the three-component response characteristics of ground-airborne TEM. Taking trapezoidal waves as an example, this article firstly studies the frequency distribution of different emission current waveform, and then investigates the effects of the rising edge time, pulse width and turn-off time of the transmitted waveform on the three-component magnetic field response of ground-air transient …

Research On The Integrated Electric Exploration System For Coal Mines And Its Application, Liu Baobao, Guo Chun, Yang Haitao
Coal Geology & Exploration
In order to overcome the shortcomings of the existing electrical prospecting technology in coal mines, such as multiple construction of electrical sounding, electrical profile and electrical penetration and a scarcity of data collected, an integrated electrical prospecting system is successfully designed, absorbing the idea of parallel electrical data acquisition, and applying the "rectangular wave" electrode layout mode combined with the "multi device data extraction" technology. The experimental results show that the system can complete the original data acquisition of electrical sounding, electrical profile, electrical perspective and other electrical construction methods with one-time wiring and one-round power supply, and extract the …
Improvement And Test Of Radar Imaging Logging Tool For Oil And Gas Wells, Zhao Yonggang
Improvement And Test Of Radar Imaging Logging Tool For Oil And Gas Wells, Zhao Yonggang
Coal Geology & Exploration
The detection depth of traditional logging tools is basically less than 3 m, and without azimuth resolution, the formation structure in larger area around wells cannot be imaged. Therefore the problems arising in the detection of subtle structure and oil and gas reservoirs can not be solved. In response to such problems, radar imaging logging tool is developed by applying ground penetrating radar imaging technology to logging. In order to improve the detection depth, azimuth resolution and downhole depth of the tool, a nanosecond pulse source and directional receiving antennae are used to detect and image the formation around the …

Research And Application Of Horizontal Wire-Line Directional Deviation Correction While Drilling, Wu Jinsheng, Huang Xiaolin, Jiang Bing, Zhang Chi, Wu Wanjiong
Coal Geology & Exploration
In wire-line core drilling of horizontal holes, the rotation axis of the drilling tool is not in a straight line with its own gravity direction; with the ground hole pressurized, the drilling trajectory will be deviated due to the soft and hard formation or the occurrence of the rock formation. At present, there is no effective way to achieve directional deviation correction while drilling. This paper studies the pushing, fixing and fishing technologies of small-diameter horizontal wire-line directional instruments while drilling. A set of horizontal rope directional drilling tools and directional technology are developed and applied in directional deviation correction …

Design And Application Of Pdc Bit For Large Diameter Directional Drilling Of Coal Seam Roof With Double Stage And Double Speed, Gao Xiaoliang, Ju Pei, Zhao Jianguo
Coal Geology & Exploration
The development of large diameter directional drilling technology has provided technical support for the extraction of gas in the upper corner of the goaf by "replacing roadway with borehole". At present, conventional large-diameter drilling mainly adopts the step-by-step hole-forming method, which solves the problem of insufficient power of large-diameter drilling equipment in underground coal mines. However, step-by-step reaming requires multiple times of lifting and lowering, long auxiliary time and intensive labor of the workers. In order to improve the drilling efficiency of large-diameter holes in the coal roof, a double stage drilling process with two speeds was developed. The process …

Prevalence Of Pretransition Disordering In The Rutile-To-Cacl2 Phase Transition Of Geo2, G. Alexander Smith, Daniel Schacher, Jasmine K. Hinton, Daniel Sneed, Changyong Park, Sylvain Petitgirard, Keith V. Lawler, Ashkan Salamat
Physics & Astronomy Faculty Research
The ability to tailor a material's electronic properties using density driven disordering has emerged as a powerful route to materials design. The observation of anomalous structural and electronic behavior in the rutile to CaCl2 phase transition in SnO2 led to the prediction that such behavior is inherent to all oxides experiencing such a phase transition sequence [Smith et al., J. Phys. Chem. Lett. 10, 5351 (2019)1948-718510.1021/acs.jpclett.9b01633]. Here, the ultrawide band gap semiconductor GeO2 is confirmed to exhibit anomalous behavior during the rutile to CaCl2 phase transition. A phase pure rutile GeO2 sample synthesized under high-pressure, high-temperature conditions is probed using …
Computer Simulation For Continuous Centrifugation Of High-Density Cell Cultures, Hironori Tomizawa
Computer Simulation For Continuous Centrifugation Of High-Density Cell Cultures, Hironori Tomizawa
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Perfusion bioreactors are used for cell production for cell therapies. The system uses cell separation devices such as centrifuge to facilitate cell growth by separating cells and spent media and allows constant media replacement. However, current cell separation technologies can increase shear stress, are generally not continuous processes, and are not as efficient as desired. These limit the amount of media replaced per unit time. Therefore, there is a need for a new system or a method that operates continuously to minimize cell damage, yield high cell concentration, and exchange media effectively. A set of research questions was formulated: (1) …

An Application Of An Unequal-Area Facilities Layout Problem With Fixed-Shape Facilities, Alan Mckendall, Artak Hakobyan
Faculty & Staff Scholarship
The unequal-area facility layout problem (UA-FLP) is the problem of locating rectangular facilities on a rectangular floor space such that facilities do not overlap while optimizing some objective. The objective considered in this paper is minimizing the total distance materials travel between facilities. The UA-FLP considered in this paper considers facilities with fixed dimension and was motivated by the investigation of layout options for a production area at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia (TMMWV) plant in Buffalo, WV, USA. This paper presents a mathematical model and a genetic algorithm for locating facilities on a continuous plant floor. More specifically, …

Soft Elastomeric Capacitor For Angular Rotation Sensing In Steel Components, Han Liu, Simon Laflamme, Jian Li, Caroline Bennett, William N. Collins, Austin Downey, Paul Ziehl, Hongki Jo
Faculty Publications
The authors have previously proposed corrugated soft elastomeric capacitors (cSEC) to create ultra compliant scalable strain gauges. The cSEC technology has been successfully demonstrated in engineering and biomechanical applications for in-plane strain measurements. This study extends work on the cSEC to evaluate its performance at measuring angular rotation when installed folded at the junction of two plates. The objective is to characterize the sensor’s electromechanical behavior anticipating applications to the monitoring of welded connections in steel components. To do so, an electromechanical model that maps the cSEC signal to bending strain induced by angular rotation is derived and adjusted using …
