Oil and gas have been found in the Triassic strata of Wyoming. Although the Triassic has not as yet proven to be a large producing horizon it is very probable that additional oil will be found in Triassic strata in the future, and it is one of the goals at which oil well drillers aim their tools.

The use of foraminifera in the determination of geologic age, and in the correlation of strata, is one of the most important techniques in oil field stratigraphic studies. The petroleum industry in many regions relies on these microscopic life forms to determine the positions of oil-bearing horizons and to determine the tops of beds. In northern Montana the Colorado group of strata, a series of about 2,000 feet of dense, dark similar shales, is known to contain foraminifers.

The spectrograph which has been calibrated is a Pearson modification of the Eagle mounting. It was originally built for industry but was never set up in a working condition nor was the dispersion of its grating ever calibrated. The ultimate purpose of this thesis was to fulfill the requirements, and to set up the conditions so that the spectrograph could be used for quantitative purposes. This included the measurement of the dispersion of lines performed by the grating, and the recognition of lines of the iron spectrum in order that a quantitative constant could be made.

After approximately 25 years of using open drains in the Lewiston Area, Utah, the water table has not changed appreciably from what it was in 1921 when Hart and Adams (4) conducted their drainage investigations. It is still only about three feet below the ground surface. This is not effective drainage, meeting neither of the two primary drainage requirements of an arid or semi-arid agricultural region, namely; preventing an accumulation of excessive water within the depth of soil required for optimum growth of plant root systems, and maintaining the water table at a depth below the ground surface greater than …

To find the beginning of the use of audio-visual aids in the teaching of industrial arts is difficult, if not impossible. The very nature of the work makes the use of audio-visual teaching methods absolutely indispensable. Long before the term "audio-visual aids" had been coined and before any attention had been given to the teaching method, as such, teachers of industrial arts were making use of the demonstration, the model, the exhibit, and many other teaching devices since included in the scope of the meaning of audio-visual teaching aids.

Earth Materials Laboratory Report No. EM-170 covers the laboratory tests made on one type of soil from Logan, Utah, for the purpose of using the soil in soil-cement canal lining experiments. The intention was that two types of soil would be used for experimental linings at Logan, Utah; a fine sandy soil, poorly graded with little or no silt (Classification Symbol SP) and a fine sandy soil with excess silt (Classification Symbol SF-silty). Investigation Of Field And Laboratory Methods For Evaluating Subgrade Support In The Design Of Highway Flexible Pavements, Robert F. Baker, William B. Drake
Kentucky Transportation Center Research Report
Four different methods of evaluating subgrade support under flexible pavements were studied: (1) Field CBR; (2) North Dakota Cone; (3) Bearing Plates; and (4) Laboratory CBR.
Approximately 435 miles of flexible pavements in Kentucky were represented. The roads were selected so as to give a wide range in conditions of traffic, soil areas, and design. A total of 185 locations were investigated, and 338 cone tests, 291 field CBR's, and 117 series of plate tests were conducted. There were 178 subgrade samples for which the laboratory CBR test was conducted. Undisturbed samples for future triaxial tests were obtained at 21 …
