"The purpose of this investigation was to prepare pigmented and non-pigmented organic protective coatings and to irradiate them with gamma rays. The coatings received a constant radiation dose of eight million rads. Seven tests were performed on the various coatings. The data from the tests were tabulated so that a direct comparison could be made as to the effect of the radiation on the coatings. The data from the tests also enabled comparisons to be made to determine if the various pigments had imparted any specific properties that would be desirable in coatings being exposed to radiations"--Introduction, page 2.

If a periodic force acts on the structure whose frequency is equal to that of the natural frequency of the structure, a vibration is set up whose amplitude would approach infinity if it were not for the presence of damping. "The cooling of a gas-vapor mixture or a mixture of several vapors, in the general case, results in condensation (phase-change) of one or more of the vapors when their respective dew-points are reached. This results in a mass transfer of the vapor to the cooling surface accompanied by energy transfer as the vapor gives up its latent heat of vaporization to the surface and becomes a liquid. The liquid accumulation adds a resistance to the further transfer of mass and energy unless some means is provided for its removal from the surface, such as gravity action.

The ore reserve in each mine is not very large. The method of development had to be planned accordingly such as not to exceed the depreciative capacity of the deposit.

The equipment was instrumented to automatically control the distillation, but an operator is needed to select fractions and insure the proper functioning of the controls.

"The problem of dividing a reservoir into distinct permeability zones, in order to predict fluid flow and thereby the production history of the field, has long troubled the petroleum engineer. As a solution to this problem a new statistical method for zoning a reservoir was developed, using a modification of the analysis of variance technique. The application of the statistical zonation procedure to permeability data obtained from eight closely spaced wells substantiated the validity and effectiveness of the new method in determining distinct permeability zones"--Abstract, page iii.

This report and any related files are made available to the online through the Lester F. Larsen Tractor Test and Power Museum as resources allow. Established in 1998, this museum is located on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus. It is and appropriately housed within the walls of the historic 1920 Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory, where the first tractor test was started on March 31st, 1920.
