Unveiling The Hidden Threat: How Wireless Networks Fuel Serious Cyber Attacks, Ibtesam Jomaa Hawi Dec 2024

Unveiling The Hidden Threat: How Wireless Networks Fuel Serious Cyber Attacks, Ibtesam Jomaa Hawi

Al-Esraa University College Journal for Engineering Sciences

The spread of wireless networks has led to an increase in serious cyber attacks due to their weak architecture. This article focuses on reevaluating cybersecurity in wireless network technology by integrating statistical information detection methods and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. To construct a wireless networking scenario that accurately reflects real-life conditions, we created a data fabrication that included four pre-existing anomalies as well as four newly introduced anomalies. The synthetic dataset created from these generation processes contains 20 thousand distinguishable values, which are later divided into training and validation sets. Using the strategy described before, we began to analyze the …

A Comparison Of Polymers By Layer Deposition And Open Molding Additive Processes Through Fused Granulate Fabrication, Alexander Ray Gibson Dec 2024

A Comparison Of Polymers By Layer Deposition And Open Molding Additive Processes Through Fused Granulate Fabrication, Alexander Ray Gibson

Theses and Dissertations

Additive manufacturing (AM) continues to offer new possibilities in both production and economics. Various industries have quickly adopted AM to rapidly produce parts that would be difficult or cost prohibitive otherwise. Despite ongoing innovations that expand the technology's capabilities, significant limitations persist. Most AM processes are restricted by materials available, an inability to produce large parts, or by not achieving material deposition speeds and volumes to allow for certain products feasible. In addition, tight tolerances for features and surfaces cannot be produced without substantial post processing. Some of the post-processing techniques can even affect the material properties of the finished …

Rates of plagiarism, especially in academic and scientific publications, have risen with the advent of the Internet, reaching alarming levels, such as 60% in student projects. This study examines the proposed model that includes computation of similarity using cosine coefficients, …

Intersection Braking Guidance For Trams Based On Lineside Signs, Wencong Tong, Jing Teng, Junxian Li, Xing Yao, Zhongjie Zhang Dec 2024

Intersection Braking Guidance For Trams Based On Lineside Signs, Wencong Tong, Jing Teng, Junxian Li, Xing Yao, Zhongjie Zhang

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Trams need to brake frequently due to signal control and safety speed limits at intersections. Due to the inaccuracy of distance judgment, tram drivers tend to reserve extra braking distance at intersections, resulting in lower braking coefficients and a decrease in speed. An intersection braking guidance method using lineside signs is proposed for trams to reduce braking distance redundancy and improve running speed. Drivers are guided to brake with the shortest possible distance by marking the initial braking position and speed of trams with fixed lineside signs. A tram driving simulation system was developed based on a vehicle dynamics …

A Systematic Approach To Vehicle Suspension Modeling: Integrating Experimental Testing And Simulation-Based Validation, Naoufel Ghannami Dec 2024

A Systematic Approach To Vehicle Suspension Modeling: Integrating Experimental Testing And Simulation-Based Validation, Naoufel Ghannami

Honors Theses

This thesis explores the dynamic behavior of suspension systems using a radio-controlled (RC) vehicle as the study unit. By combining experimental drop testing and the Mississippi State Autonomous Vehicle Simulator (MAVS), the research focuses on determining key suspension parameters, including the spring constant and damping coefficient, which define the stiffness and energy dissipation characteristics of the system. The RC vehicle's suspension system provided a controlled platform for studying these dynamics under both real-world and simulated conditions. Experimental drop testing involved capturing the vehicle's response to impact using an accelerometer, while MAVS simulations modeled a controlled compression and release of the …

Mechanical Engineering Design Project Class

WashU Racing needs a device that will help them transport their Formula SAE car to and from their garage/paddock during events and testing when the car is unable to move under its own power. Pushing the car is very exhausting and requires at least 2 pairs of people, rotating in and out, to push the car. An electronically assisted push bar would only require two people to push the car and wouldn't experience exhaustion due to pushing the car. This device will function similarly to a shopping cart tug while also functioning as a rear jack for the vehicle that …

Hidden Markov Model For Identifying Local Variants In Human Genomes Using Simulated Data, Scott Mccallum Dec 2024

Hidden Markov Model For Identifying Local Variants In Human Genomes Using Simulated Data, Scott Mccallum

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Identifying adaptive mutations in genetic data is challenging due to the low frequency of occurrence of such events, and because signatures of selection are intertwined with the footprints of various other evolutionary forces that shape our genomes. Even when a larger region appears to be under selection, genomic sites that are linked to adaptive mutations have similar statistical signals, and thus can obfuscate the identification of the actual adaptive mutation. The new method described here uses a Hidden Markov Model that allows for classification of neutral, linked, and sweep (adaptive mutation) genomic sites. This model is general and can be …

Fail-Safe Logic Design Strategies Within Modern Fpga Architectures, Priya A. Bhakta Dec 2024

Fail-Safe Logic Design Strategies Within Modern Fpga Architectures, Priya A. Bhakta

Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs

Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are vulnerable to radiation-induced single event upsets (SEUs) and fault injection attacks, requiring the use of redundancy techniques such as fail-safe computing. Fail-safe computing refers to computing systems that revert to a non-operational safe state when a fault occurs. This work investigates circuit-level techniques and implements fail-safe computing processes as mitigation for SEUs and fault injection attacks on FPGAs. The analysis reveals vulnerabilities that exist in FPGAs over those in application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC); thus, requiring a more elaborate network of redundant circuits and checking logic. The reconfiguration capability of FPGAs adds complexity to fail-safe …

Real-Time Control (Rtc)-Based Urban Flood Risk Assessment Framework For Arid And Semi-Arid Regions, Sulaiman Altami

Dissertations - ALL

Global climate change has recently increased Flood Risk (FR) disasters in arid and semi-arid regions, particularly in Gulf countries, such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Arid regions generally face low rain on average during a year, but flash floods occur during rainfall of longer return periods due to urbanization and climate change. Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) outcomes enable municipalities (planners and decision-makers) in arid urban areas to develop flood management strategies and mitigate the issues of drainage systems, which may otherwise affect the quality of life. FRA is an effective tool for not only identifying high-risk areas but …

Modeling And Algorithms To Simplify Complex Multi-Clock/Edge Timing Constraints In High Performance Synchronous Digital Circuits, Nagbhushan Veerapaneni Dec 2024

Modeling And Algorithms To Simplify Complex Multi-Clock/Edge Timing Constraints In High Performance Synchronous Digital Circuits, Nagbhushan Veerapaneni

Dissertations - ALL

Complex timing constraints that refer to multiple clocks and/or edges are often used in the design of modern high-performance processors. Such constraints complicate downstream algorithms such as logic synthesis and lead to inefficiencies. The complexity of the overall CAD system can be reduced considerably if we can optimally transform the timing constraints so that they refer only to a single clock and edge. In this dissertation, we show how to model these multi clock/edge timing constraints and describe algorithms to reduce the number of reference clocks/edges. We first introduce the concept of timing specification transformation and define optimality. We formulate …
