The Vortex project from Georgia Institute of Technology was created to provide an open-source hardware and software GPGPU research platform based on RISC-V. Skybox was introduced as an extension to Vortex to provide dedicated support for 3D graphics rendering acceleration as a complete GPU platform. This work presents contributions to the render output unit of Skybox, including the development of a blend unit, cache bypassing mechanisms, and performance monitoring metrics. With these, Skybox has succeeded in its goal of accelerating graphics rendering on RISC-V platforms. Water pollution, particularly from industrial sources, poses severe environmental and health risks, necessitating cost-effective and sustainable solutions. This study investigates the preparation and application of magnesium-doped coffee waste biochar (Mg-CW) for the removal of methylene blue (MB) and lead ions (Pb2+) from water. Mg-CW, synthesized via one-step pyrolysis at 300°C, demonstrated remarkable adsorption capacities of 1024.88 mg/g for MB and 349.59 mg/g for Pb2+. Adsorption efficiencies were optimal at pH 12 for MB and pH 5 for Pb2+, attributed to enhanced electrostatic interactions and complexation mechanisms. Regeneration studies revealed that Mg-CW retains over 95% adsorption efficiency after multiple cycles, highlighting …

Spanwise heterogeneity in surface roughness generates secondary mean flows in a rough-wall turbulent boundary layer. This study investigates the influence of roughness spanwise wavelength on the arrangement of these secondary flows using direct numerical simulation (DNS). We systematically vary the spanwise wavelength, δS/δ⁠, from ππ/16 to π2π⁠, while maintaining constant roughness height and surface coverage density. Here, S represents the roughness spanwise wavelength, and δδ denotes the outer length scale, which in this case is the half-channel height. Secondary flows are observed in all DNS cases, but their configurations depend on the spanwise wavelength. Specifically, small wavelengths result in low-momentum …

Dendrimers, first introduced by Fritz Vögtle in 1978, have emerged as promising nanocarriers for drug delivery due to their unique branched architecture, large internal cavities, and numerous surface amine groups. These dendrimers efficiently load various drugs through electrostatic interactions, covalent bonding, or encapsulation, owing to their high density of terminal amine groups. However, the inherent cationic nature of PAMAM dendrimers can lead to cytotoxicity and limited systemic circulation due to interactions with negatively charged biomolecules. An inability to accurately control the rate and extent of solidification of cementitious suspensions is a major impediment to creating geometrically complex structural shapes via 3D printing. In this work, we have developed a thermoresponsive rapid stiffening system that will stiffen suspensions of minerals such as quartz, limestone, portlandite, and Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) over a wide pH range. Multi-metal compositionally complex (CC) AlB2-type diboride solid solutions (SS) containing IV-V-VI group elements are garnering a steadily growing research interest. The present work explores the composition dependence of oxidation resistance on nominally equiatomic (Hf,Me,Ta,Ti,Zr)B2 SS, Me = Nb or Cr, exposed to a dissociated air plasma (total pressure of about 1 kPa): specimens were exposed for 5 min at some selected set points between 1800 K and 2500 K using a solar furnace.
